This place is a treat and a perfect spot for a celebration or nice meal. We were able to call in for a reservation. The views are incredible both from the outside and inside dining areas. Our service was great. Food takes a bit to come out (entrees mainly) but it's so fresh and delicious. I love that they have a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu that's inventive and has a variety of local and international offerings. The Parmesan bread rolls were dangerously good. So light and pillowy. We tried the Buffalo cauliflower and mushroom appetizers and both were great. Serving sizes were generous. I got the risotto with corn and asparagus and it was delightful. I had made a Wednesday 7:00 dinner reservation inside because we wanted AC, though they also had a beautiful patio seated area too. When we arrived we were greeted and seating at a table by the window with a view. Our server, Julio was excellent, friendly and attentive, he made our experience very enjoyable. We ordered cocktails. To note: they make great Slightly Dirty Martini and a Lychee Martinis. We were served complementary bread which was so good. We made reservation for 6:30 pm on a Thursday night, and when we walked onto the terrace, the lady told us our table is the most inside one beside the wall, and i saw one open table beside the railing, so i asked. The staff was so accommodating and got us a great little booster chair for her to sit in. The menu was phenomenal which made it very difficult to order! I had the special which was a Mahi mahi - one of my all time favorite meals ever! Hubs had the seafood skewer and loved every single bite. We each had a couple cocktails but my favorite (must try) was the toasted coconut martini and espresso martini post dinner. Come here if you're on the island. It's 1000% worth every penny (or peso). What an absolute find. And literally it is a little hard to find because it is not on a main Street. We stayed at the Westin on Cozumel. This restaurants probably a quarter mile away but hidden a bit. Absolutely gorgeous building made of Stone. Right on the water. Outside tables give you a view and all of the sounds. Inside some interesting art noise from the kitchen because it's open, and just a lovely ambiance. The prices are really not bad considering the quality and the quantity of the food. I went with my traveling companions. The only downside for me is that they don't have an actual wine / beer menu. I did end up getting a white sangria that was incredibly delicious. At $10 it was money that I did not mind spending. Interesting assortment of appetizers. Myself and two other people actually opted for two appetizers as opposed to entrees. The guy in our party got a filet mignon which was pretty pricey but he absolutely loved it and it was the best meal he had while we were in Cozumel. In fact he and his wife went back the next evening. The desserts oh my! They're not foofy Little things they are full size interesting combinations and if you did nothing else go for the dessert. I honestly had to opt out because I ate enough and couldn't really do dessert but I would go back and have every single thing on their menu and would be happy to pay the fair prices for the full size large plate desserts. So by the way, during the day this place is a beach club. The cost is $400 pesos ($20 US) for the entry fee. However, the $20 goes towards the cost of food and beverages so as long as you purchase something you'll get your money's worth. And it's a spectacular beach pool area. The next time I go to Cancun I'm going to take a ferry over from playa del Carmen and spend the day at the beach club and then have dinner at night spend the night at the Westin and then go back across. read more

We visited here last night for a special dinner to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The restaurant is out of town and home to a beautiful beachside view. We watched the sunset during our meal. We started with toasted coconut martinis that were delicious. We had the special 3 shot appetizer which had octopus, shrimp, and lobster grilled and each in a different sauce. I'm a huge octopus fan and it was perfectly grilled and in a smoky sauce. All three were delicious. For dinner I had the catch of the day which was mahi-mahi and it was seared in an achiote season and atop a tasty heap of smashed Parmesan potatoes. It was accompanied by a tasty salsa of pecans and jicama, with a fresh chimichurri. My husband had the pasta special. Homemade squid ink black fettuccine with a garlic lemon sauce and filled with seafood. It has octopus, shrimp, fresh fish, and mussels. Both entrees were delicious. This was an easy 5-star rating for me. This restaurant could easily compete with the best restaurants in Boston. I wanted to try one of the nicest restaurants on the island of Cozumel, and it didn't disappoint! I was first impressed by the ambiance and physical building. It is very nicely cared for, meticulously clean, and the design is fresh and beautiful. Someone clearly put a lot of money and care into this building! They have an indoor and outdoor seating area, with a beautiful open kitchen. The staff is incredibly professional and well dressed. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and polite. They also seem to all be bilingual, which is helpful for a gringo like me. Now to the food: It was seriously all so good, such high quality, and clearly so well planned. You can tell that the chef has a lot of experience, and is given much of the control in planning the menu. There is a lot of pride in the food, even the drinks and dessert are creative, fresh and delicious! The house bread alone is worth going to this restaurant for. Look for the large torch and the knockout setting by the Gulf of Mexico, facing from the island back toward mainland Mexico. This place is definitely a romantic setting. Get here early enough to catch the sunset. This was a fantastic find, on a recent trip to celebrate my birthday, just prior to New Years in Mexico City. After a day of incredible diving in the crystal clear waters around Cozumel, you can settle in here to eat the cousins of the kaleidoscope of sea creatures and plants that you just saw underwater that afternoon. Anything with lobster was amazing. The seafood was all VERY fresh. One of the owners is from Spain, so Spanish seafood paella is particularly good. The setting could just not be more serene or beautiful. There's a large terrace facing the water, and the interior is a gorgeous mix of old and new. The service here was the best of Mexican hospitality. For a very touristy island, the staff was remarkably friendly and willing to talk at length. It genuinely felt like a local family (although one with an amazing large ocean terrace) had invited us to their home to eat. It's easy to find, just take an Uber or a taxi. If you're feeling adventurous you can bike there too. Mosquitoes are a small problem, as in many places in Cozumel. The property was bug spray off to the side of the building where you can freely apply. read more

Some guests at the hotel we stayed at said it is walkable but honestly walking down barely lit long street at night wasn't something I was willing to risk with children. So took an overpriced taxi with variable pricing to the restaurant. The food here is largely portioned with fair prices. The mixed cocktails were really good. The service was great (Eduardo) and we were super excited that there was an inside with air-conditioning and we could still see the sunset. This season the menu had a lot of fish or ocean-based options, the food was healthy, clean, and enjoyable. We would love to do it during the daytime but really abhor all the cruise ship people, but I will tell you for sunset in the air conditioning with good food this is a hard place to beat. Once they sat us they brought a glass of sparkling to celebrate our anniversary, and then from there out the service was fantastic. We had the lobster nachos and the grilled romaine salad with shrimp. Both very different and the flavors were just spot on. I enjoy the Blue Taco truck, and everything in between. $450 for 5 people here vs $200 at Guidos, and we had a significantly better meal (multiple times) at Guidos. No view at Guidos, so there's that - but at Buccanos we felt like a commodity. At Guidos, Azul Madeira, El Moro, etc we "felt" kinda like family and got great value. Your mileage may vary. read more

We were shocked when we got the final bill - about 50% less than what we pay at home. I was excited to try out the Buccanos, and overall it wasn't bad. We decided to walk from the Westin, which isn't recommended at night as there is no light walking down the road, and once in the building weren't exactly sure where to go as it lacked signage. Once on the porch, the ambiance was great other than the extreme amount of mosquitos. The best part of the meal was the drinks and the free bread that came out before the meal. The bread was absolutely outstanding. We got the lobster which was subpar, and the ravioli, which was outstanding. We finished with deserts which honestly were very underwhelming and definitely wouldn't call the cheesecake...cheesecake! The staff was friendly, but it was very confusing as to who was waiting on who as there were 6-7 people constantly stopping at our table, and we weren't sure who to ask for drinks or to order our food. It seemed a bit chaotic. Overall a good time but not what we were hoping for on our last night on the island. read more
