Food and service were horrible. We had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. It comes out with fries. I tell the waiter he says put the fries on the saucer. It takes awhile and he comes back with the saucer of 3 small onion rings. We had half the food so we got one and half onion rings. We was of course still hungry after my husband keeps trying to make eye contact to our waiter several times he finally comes over we ordered the seafood nachos, what a huge mistake, they come out with huge mushy chunks of imitation crab meat, and small pieces of shrimp and whatever kinda sauce they put on it was tasteless. We picked the fake crab meat off cause it was just plain nasty. We had 2 margaritas a piece served in beautiful glassware but not a good drink at all. The server was going to the bathroom washing his face after eating I seen him do this 2 times. We gave him a 10% tip and he looked pissed or shock. It was a beautiful view but nothing would ever make us go there again. We have been to Cozumel 13 times always wanted to try it. This place is an overpriced nasty food trap for tourists. We are here for a month and would have eaten here a few times if it was any good. After reading the other review about the fake crab meat we are thankful we didn't eat it and get food poisoning too. The servers here are friendly and it's a great location on the melgar, but I was so sick after eating the seafood nachos last night I thought I may have to go to the hospital. I know it was the nachos because my husband and I ate the same things yesterday with the exception of the imitation crab on the nachos. When they sat them down and I saw it was imitation crab I was disappointed but it was late and I was hungry. My husband ate maybe a few bites and he picked the imitation crab off. He said the nachos tasted disgusting to him. We went back to our room, and about 3 hours later I woke up and immediately started projectile vomiting. I spent most of the night in the bathroom feeling like I was going to die. I thought the imitation crab tasted a little off, but just chalked it up to being different than what I'm used to in the states. Big MISTAKE. I've managed to slow down in the vomiting and trips to the bathroom but I still feel awful. Nauseated, headache (probably from dehydration), stomach pain and back pain....I assume that's from how hard I was retching. We will never go back. Food poisoning is not something I give any additional chances for. If you've had it, you understand. read more

We visited several places in Cozumel and this was my favorite. Right across from the water, mostly outdoor seating, live music starting at 8, very nice staff and prompt service. The food was delicious and lots of options on the menu. I asked the bartender to make me a frozen Amaretto Colada with not to much alcohol and he made it exactly how I like it and it was huge! They have great staff who want to make you happy with outdoor and indoor seating. We sat at a corner table outside, with a view of the water. It's on a busy street, so I wouldn't recommend it for small children (sit indoors instead). I had a margarita, which I first thought was expensive but it ended up being very strong. Then, my husband and I shared the fajitas, getting the steak and shrimp combo. Ngl, the portion size was small for the price, but they were tasty. The Thirsty Cougar was quite a pleasant surprise. I intended to go to another restaurant, but it was at the far end of the island and the cab fare was $80 round trip. I walked along downtown and carefully assessed each restaurant, discounting the usuals... Carlos and Charlies, Senior Frogs, Hooters, etc. Several restaurants looked promising, but they were not busy. The Thirsty Cougar was very busy, so I sat at the bar and ordered lunch. I ordered the blackened fish platter, and it was exquisite. The fish was cooked to perfection and the spices were not too strong. The vegetables tasted as if they were picked this morning, and the rice was perfect as well. The accompanying sauce complimented each item. It was somewhat fruit based I supposed but went well with everything. At $14 USD, this was better than specialty dining on the ship. read more

Hands down my favorite nacho place in Mexico! Was on a cruise and did some searching specifically for nachos as we were just in the area for 8 hours off the boat. Location was just 2.5 miles from the port (we took a taxi both ways due to the outside temperature). After getting out of the vehicle, first thing we noticed was how well the restaurant was built. It had both a surfer vibe, but was incredibly manicured compared to most of the restaurants near the beach. Once we sat down we were greeted by a very friendly server who spoke English perfectly, followed by noticing (we sat outside) that the view was absolutely gorgeous (across a two way road is the water). The menu was easy to read, with just enough options for everyone to pick what they wanted, with a fantastic assortment of drinks (which looked beautiful but we decided to opt for a non alcoholic drink as we just wanted Mexican coke). My wife got the tacos which were cooked well, and had the right amount of toppings to be the perfect Mexican tacos. I opted (of course) for the nachos. It was difficult to pick for all of thirty seconds, but, I never see on a menu blackened chicken nachos, so I had to opt for this. It came with an incredibly perfect mango sauce, and I noticed right away that the cheese sauce they made was definitely homemade. Between everything on our plate and the vibes we got, it was a perfect lunch, that we won't soon forget, and a place I recommend anyone who visits Cozumel to have as their lunch or dinner spot as a must have! read more

Stopped here to try their famous mountain top margaritas, stayed for the awesome vibes. This place was what I was hoping to expect. Cool music and cool interior. Our waiter, Ronaldo, was amazing! Excellent service and excellent attitude. After a few conversations with him, you would think you're talking to family, or your best friend. Really made us feel comfortable right when walking up to the restaurant. My first time visiting Cozumel, I didn't expect it to be so humid and hot. It's been rough enjoying anything outside, so why not sip on an ice cold frozen margarita that's as big as Mount Everest. Those margs are worth every penny. Ordered the two most popular drinks. Halfway finished, I was feeling pretty chilly, but overall, refreshed! Food was outstanding! I ordered Nachos with Blackened Chicken and Chicken wings. Both meals came with a mango-chipotle sauce.... OMG... one of the tastiest sauces I've ever had. A sweet sauce with a little kick. Who knew something so simple could be so good. I smothered that sauce all over the nachos and wings. Just a short walk from the pier and away from the very touristy mall place. I was meeting my sister here for a quick last-minute meet-up on a short layover and really was not sure what to expect. I mean really... Let's just meet at the "Cougar Bar" did not leave me with high hopes for more than beer and questionable tequila. What Infound was a bright fresh atmosphere, and a nice-sized menu with a good range of choices at a reasonable price. I highly recommend the coconut shrimp!!! We ate here 3 different times and were served by Ronaldo Diaz. He will accommodate your nutrition needs and is always attentive. There wasn't a second we were ever needing anything. While I did not try their mexican style food - watching other tables, there food appears to be in line with the main drag - catering mostly to cruise ship passengers who may not have a true appreciation for the complexity of authentic mexican food and are more comfortable with tex mex style / more American style.... If you want a true experience with the locals, see my other review for El Sazon Del Camaron about a 15-20 minute walk away from the ocean. Tip: Homemade Tequila shots for 60 pesos are great, and if you are there over the Holidays, the Noche Buena Bock is a delicious beer. I've seen so many reviews on the Thirsty Cougar, but never wanted to try during the day when the cruise boast tourist were crowding the place. It was on the later side so and there was an open table so we grabbed it. There was a live band playing which was fun. Service was good. We ordered Beers and Mezcal, Chicken fingers, Chicken, Shrimp and a Beef Quesadilla. The food was descent, I think the people watching was better though.
