Placed an order at 7am for an 11am pickup. Notified via text ready would be ready for pickup at 11:10Am. Order was not ready until 11:37 and was shorted 1 of 7 salads for a corporate lunch meeting. Manager indicated they don't manage door dash orders priority. I'm placed my order directly on Bucharest website however it automatically goes thru Door Dash even for pickup's. I love Bucharest, and this location is no exception. It's delicious and affordable; the best shawarma in Detroit. I've recently become vegan which makes it very difficult to try new places or even go to my old favorite places, but Bucharest has me covered with their falafel. Bucharest Grill, I love you! Now I know what the rave is all about. Those gigantic shawarmas are big enough to feed two. This wrap doesn't lack flavor at all. The meat is nicely seasoned and the garlic sauce is amazing! The lettuce and tomatoes give a great boost of nutrition. The curly fries are a must as well. This place was packed when I came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. It's definitely worth the wait. The only bone I have to pick is that they don't offer catering size fries. Why not? And ease up on the sauce. It's really good but a bit too much. I definitely want to come back and I recommend you to come here as well. I hear really great things about the dessert. While in town for business, the local staff indicated that Detroit has excellent Middle Eastern food, and that Bucharest Grill has some of the best shawarma in the 313 area code. So do what the locals do and order a chicken shawarma with a side of the house made hummus with fresh pita bread. The meat on the chicken shawarma is flavor bomb with intense notes of garlic, cumin, paprika, tumeric, and cinnamon. The hummus is not too smooth and unlike store bought versions, you can really taste the fresh tahini and lemon juice. Like other reviewers have noted, this is mostly a take-out joint, but there are tables for dine-in service - just don't expect a lot of ambiance. But that's fine, since for about $15, Bucharest Grill is definitely a great bargain dining spot when visiting Downtown Detroit. read more

I've loved Bucharest Grill since they opened in fact I would say they were one of my favorite restaurants. whenever there was talk about shawarma's, I would always recommend Bucharest Grill as the place to go in Detroit. However, my opinion has since changed. Last week Monday I went into the Detroit location on Jefferson and I ordered a shawarma with extra garlic sauce and a salad. I took the salad to work for lunch on Tuesday, and Wednesday I took the shawarma. When I bit into the shawarma the extra garlic sauce was actually mayonnaise to my surprise. When I call the Jefferson location to express my concerns I spoke with the manager Luis (pronounced Louise). He said he was the manager. I explained my concerns and I asked him if they use mayonnaise? He responded "Yes, that's one of the active ingredients in their garlic sauce (really since when is mayo used in garlic sauce). Luis said to me, " I'm sure they gave you extra garlic sauce". Yes, they did because I asked for some, but what I didn't ask for was a glob of mayo. He totally ignored the fact that my shawarma wasn't prepared as specified nor was he willing to correct their error. This is not the kind of customer service that I'm accustomed to. I have patronized their establishment for years without any complaints but if this is how they resolve issues I'm done with Bucharest Grill. read more

This is probably my favorite chicken and hummus plate combo that I've come by. The chicken is seriously packed with serious spices that create such an experience combined with the hummus, it's insane. It's creamy and tangy but also slightly spicy and savory. The shawarma wrap is also delicious, but you better be prepared to have MANY mints afterwards. This is the strongest garlic spread Itve ever had in my life. This restaurant is decent. I had heard a lot of great things about here They are located inside of a strip mall with a huge private parking lot. I was teetering between 3 and 4 stars but opted to go with the 4. This place is huge and is co located with a small bakery. Due to COVID, they do not have any dine-in seating, not even one table. It is all carry out and delivery. The restaurant is very clean and has a high flow of traffic during its peak times. Ordering here is pretty simple. They have a wide range of menu items including burgers, wraps, steak, salads, pitas and quesadillas. I got the lamb shawarma with curly fries. You get a ton of food and at a very reasonable price. I could not eat it all. I will admit, the food has a lot of seasoning (almost walking the line of too much), but I am one that likes that type of food. Had the steak salad, the steak was freshly grilled and hot, a great medium (done to order), nicely spiced, I always add salt and I didn't need to, with super fresh salad greens. Relatively plain, lightly dressed, great taste. In the future, I might add feta. Falafel wrap was also very good, fresh. Both were very large portions. The cake was awesome, obviously freshly made, I got lemon, so hard to stop eating it. Would def go back to try other things. I haven't been since before I moved to FL 6 years ago and a certain Lady who didn't make the trip hinted that I roll by here before I hit I-75 South. The restaurant had a horrible sewer odor There was water, towels and buckets on the floor throughout the restaurant I asked about the smell and was told the "ice in the pop machine was melting but how does melting ice drip from the ceiling The lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber were wet The lettuce was old and turning brown The chicken seemed to be boiled and then grilled You do get your money's worth if you like that much protein but not enough lettuce on the salad for the excessive amount of protein on the salad I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager but after being on hold for 10 minutes I hung up I called back and finally spoke to Hussain. He would not refund my money for the 2 salads. He said he was told he could only remake 1 salad but I would have to return to the restaurant and give him the original order. I informed Hussain that I was back at work and could not return to the restaurant. He still refused to give me a refund. Always love going to Bucharest when we are in the area. The sandwiches are hot and fresh. I got the vegetarian shawarma and it had fresh veggies with a really delicious sauce and fries in the middle. I also like to dip it in the garlic sauce. The curly fries were also delicious and had good flavor. I have been a pretty loyal and tolerant customer of both the Piquette and Corktown locations because of the food. I really enjoy the salads and shwarmas and am addicted to the garlic sauce. But alas! They have pissed me off one last time! Every single order I have placed (20-25 times) has been wrong (mostly Piquette). Either its completely wrong or its missing items. Every time I ask to correct it, I get attitude. During Covid, I've used Door Dash and am just sh*t out of luck when they get it wrong, because they don't ever resolve the issue. Tonight, they forgot to deliver the one item I ordered for myself and so I called to ask that they please send it. I f*cking got hung up on!! WTF!?! Im so done with Bucharest and will find another dealer for my garlic sauce addiction! If you people actually read your reviews, you'll find that there is a lot of complaining about your service staff, and that it by far negates the flavor & quality of the food. I'd heard people rave about their chicken shawarma sandwich. That a line goes out the door in downtown Detroit location. So I tried the new location in grosse Pointe Woods. The food was very bland. All of it. Tried the lamb and hommous. Very little hommous in a container with lamb on top. The lamb was very grisslely and had an odd taste. The lamb shawarma sand had the same grisslely lamb. The or grape leaves were a generous size, but again bland. The chicken shawarma sandwich was not bad tasting but very bland. Now this is one of seven locations and I can't see a business expanding to that many locations if the food is all like this. So maybe I caught them on a bad day, or this location is not as good as the rest. But for people to tell me they made the best chicken shawarma sandwich around I was quite disappointed. Enough that I won't go back to this location. I will however try the downtown location, if only to compare. That's why I put "maybe" for recommending it. Cheap. Good. Fast. Fairly nutritious. Everything you really need from a fast casual setup. Why only three stars? Service isn't particularly friendly and the system to listen when a staff member calls your order number (over the din of conversations, kitchen activity, and loud music) is stressful. I've had food come up so fast that I had just finished paying and was heading over to fill a fountain drink, which is nice in some ways, but not when the staff member acts irritated that I wasn't immediately ready. (Order a chicken shawarma wrap or salad for fastest service- they're basically just continuously making them.) Also the consistency just isn't there on wraps - some are very veggie-heavy with a good balance of meat, and others are mostly just meat and sauce, with little rhyme or reason to which you'll get. And there's no real flatware if you're dining in, which means you're eating a salad with a flimsy plastic fork. They don't deliver anymore, unless it's a really large order. Will I be back? We stopped here after a show at the Fox, it was lunchtime and I guessed that since this was bigger than the Corktown location, it would be easier to get in and get some luscious shawarmas. Definitely more parking, but the lot is kind of an adventure with people rushing in and out of narrow rows. It's interesting inside, with the cake place right in the lobby. It's somewhat less chaotic in the lines, but only slightly. I'm not sure why it's so hard to figure out one line going to multiple checkouts, but people just don't pay attention with their phones in front of their faces. If you're eating there, you wait a good amount of time for your food, but it's worth the wait. It's as good as the "original" location, at the same great prices. The Bucharest shawarma is still the best, and they're a little heavier on the garlic sauce here (which is a plus in my book). It's Bucharest, it's great, just stop here! read more

So I waited until my second visit before I reviewed this place. My first visit was tainted by the service, I ordered 2 sliders (grilled chicken and beef), curly fries, and a chicken stick. I waited for over 40 minutes, my fries were cold, and my order was wrong. I was heated because it wasn't as busy and I expected at the least hot food since I waited so long. One of the girls I spoke to took it upon herself to refund me for the sliders since they weren't prepared correctly and also for the cold fries. I was visited the area and decided to try them again the next day because the food options in walking distance were limited and the chicken stick was actually delicious. The place was soooo packed around lunch time so I was skeptical. I ordered the chicken stick again and curly fries. I skipped the sliders...they didn't impress me. The curly fries were not only hot, but they give you so many for $3!! The chicken stick was just as good if not better and for only $4 this thing is a steal! That crunchy pickle is the perfect addition inside the grilled flour tortilla. The chicken is marinated and grilled up right in front of you while you wait.
