They bought or merged with Tournou whom I have been a customer for 35+ years. I went in to now called Bucherer to look and get a new watch battery. A very very snobby young Asian man seemed annoyed to serve those of us customers in the service area, basically said the watch runs so don't need a battery. Anyone who knows battery watches they slow down and loose time when the battery is nearly complete. Here I am a few weeks since this and my watch is dead. I'd rather go to my local jeweler and pay for the battery than ever go back to this place. Don't need the negative customer service. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Bucherer Timemachine. From the moment I walked in, I didn't feel welcomed. I asked about a Rolex Submariner or any Datejust--watches I'm very familiar with, as we already own several Rolexes. Instead of trying to build any kind of relationship or even having a basic conversation, the associate dismissed me almost immediately. He didn't check the inventory, didn't offer to look into upcoming availability, and didn't even bother to ask for my contact information in case something became available later. Just a flat, "No, we don't have any in stock," and that was it. For a store representing such a prestigious brand, the lack of effort and customer care was honestly shocking. I waited over 20 minutes for a sales representative to show me some watches on the lower showroom floor before leaving the store. The agent never appeared. Pretty disappointed in my experience a the TimeMachine. My spouse and I came to town to attend both WindUp and WatchTime, but visiting the TimeMachine was also on our list (to really make a full horological experience for the weekend). We were ignored from the moment we arrived. We walked all three levels of the store, and not once did any sales associate even make eye contact, let alone talk to us. After about a half an hour of waiting, we left disappointed and frustrated. Now - we aren't the types to wear designer clothes or put on a full face of makeup to go shopping, but we weren't disheveled either. I've never had an issue at any other AD with how we present ourselves. And (not that it should matter but..) we both had on luxury watches, so if anyone had taken the time to chat with us, they would have realized we are their target clientele. What we had thought was going to be the highlight of our trip turned out to be the biggest disappointment. Thankfully, the staff at Audamars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Grand Seiko, and Watches of Switzerland were all much friendlier and helpful. The Rolex section is the worst. My wife and I came in to replace a bracelet that we lost and had a great experience with Donna, but when we went to see some of the new Rolexes we were asked not to sit down because there was a wait to speak to a sales person. Absolutely ridiculous experience with this Rolex AD. The first time I visited, it was acceptable. The sales associate took my information and sent me a couple of regular updates on the watch I was interested in. However, it all went downhill after that. The follows ups stopped. After I followed up on my own, he was clearly clueless since he kept asking for my contact information, even though he already had it. After more than a year, they suddenly followed up asking me if I was still interested in the watch, but it was too late since I got the same watch from another Rolex AD in less than 3 months and with much better customer service. They stopped contacting me after that, even though I have expressed interest in other watches. Clearly, they punish customers who have multiple options and who will not put up with unreasonable wait times for watches that are clearly accessible. I have no doubt whatsoever that they are 100% arbitrary in how they allocate watches and that they randomly forget about customers. I decided to stop in one more time for a follow up. This experience was absolutely painful. The sales associates are arrogant, dismissive, and have no interest whatsoever in having a conversation with customers who are already Rolex collectors and own multiple watches. Since I perceived a dismissive attitude immediately, with no interest whatsoever in what watches I would like to purchase, and no interest whatsoever in keeping me as a customer, I politely thanked the sales associated and walked out of the store immediately. read more

3.5 stars. This is a nice place to visit for the museum quality vintage pieces, some which are not for sale, and some which you can actually try on and buy. The selection of new watches is excellent and they stock many popular brands on multiple floors. The pre owned selection is also excellent. The service is great and in terms of attentiveness. The downside is they really lack expertise regarding the watches they sells and their prices are really inflated compared to what you could find at other reputable vintage dealers and pre owned. They really don't know how to price the watches the knowledge is just not there. At least at tourneau I've been able to find some decent deals, and prices what you'd expect. read more

On a visit to NY going to this flagship location was at the top of my list as a watch lover and collector. I have worked with many ADs for years and am very familiar with how these stores work. The experience here was the worst one I have encountered. If I was a Rolex undercover QC persons they would have failed everything, including cleanliness checks. We walked in and a man said hello to us. With wide eyes I replied hello we are very excited to be here. Showing no interest in my tone they replied. What are you here for. I said we would love to try some things on and see what's available. I didn't not any specific brands and no we were not looking for a Rolex. The man then turned his back to us and walked away. We began walking around looking at the watches in cases. No staff came up to us asking if we wanted to see anything. Asked if we wanted a water or drink. Asked us anything they just ignored us. They were not busy. Staff was sitting at the bar playing on their cell phones. other staff was chatting with one another. I dont expect someone helping a customer to stop and come talk to us. However, I do expect someone who's not helping anyone to come up and ask me if I need assistance with something. My partner and I had on very nice watches and didn't look destitute. Fed up after walking around for 25 minutes we left. There are lots of great ADs out there. This is by far the worst I have been too. And next time I am in town I won't waste my time. For those who did not know, this was an old location where a torneau was located. Looks like they went into partnership with bucherer. The location is absolutely gorgeous and the staff was very friendly. They sat me down while they looked for some Rolex sports models but obviously those are very hard to come by. I was comfortable and drank some great champagne in their custom bar. Everything in the shop was made to order, one-of-a-kind, with a focus on customers, hospitality, and their love of timepieces. They didn't simply want to create a beautiful store; they wanted to revolutionize the way we do business. read more

I was in NYC for a meeting and stopped in to Bucherer on 57th, knowing the chances would be slim of buying the Rolex I have been trying purchase in my home state. I waited for about 30 minutes and then met the sales associate, Mike. After showing him a photo of the watch, explaining that I have been on a waitlist with Finks in Raleigh NC for seven months, and that I just had my 50th birthday last week, he said he would see what they have available. Not only did they have the watch available, but they treated me like royalty. Stephanie, the Rolex Manager for this store, soon appeared and gave me a box of Rolex Chocolates (and a hug) and said these chocolates were more rare than the watches themselves! It was such a kind gesture. I purchased the watch, took a picture with Mike and Stephanie in front of the big green Rolex wall, and walked out feeling great. This is what the experience should be, very different than the feeling my husband and I have had for the past several months in our home state where we felt we were not a priority to our local jewelry store. Regarding the trend that we all hear that the Authorized Dealers want for you to build a relationship with them and therefor as a "non-local" will have little luck purchasing a Rolex in NYC, this was not my experience. In the hour that I was in Bucherer, Mike and Stephanie went out of their way to know me and build a relationship. I have their card in my wallet. Great selection. Buying watches has never been a problem for me and this place has any kind of watch you can imagine. After the purchase if you have any questions issues etc - anything that requires follow up or a call back - forget about it! You'll never hear a word from anyone no matter how many voicemails or messages you leave. Horrendous lack of anything resembling customer service once you've made the purchase. I've left no fewer than 6 voicemails re: missing warranty card , issue with their credit card and NOT ONE CALL BACK. I began dating my now husband 7 years ago and over those years I have been in many rolex stores, where he would go in, admire the black submariner day and tell me how he'll know he's "made it" in life when he has one. We were getting married in two months and I wanted to surprise him the day before out wedding with his dream watch. So I went several rolex shops in the city andddd, no such luck. Told many times that what I wanted to do was impossible. My husband was right about it taking years. I went to one particular Rolex store in meatpacking and became friends with the bartender there. He said, you should go to Bucherer 1888, I heard they got a black submariner day in today. My heart rate increased but again, I didn't want to get my hopes up. So I walked in and got to the counter and met Rami Riman. I began telling him my story and as I approached the end he walked away into the back. In my head, I'm like wow my request is so ridiculous he didn't even wait for the end. He came back with a green box and opened it... and a black submariner day was staring back at me. He said "I knew I wanted to make someone really happy today." I said in disbelief, "Is that someone me??!" And he said "Yes." I then proceeded to pay for this watch on three different credit cards and bank transfer. I KNEW this would be the most special purchase I made of my life. I got it sized while he was out of town on his bachelor party and I gave it to my husband the day before our wedding. His reaction was even better than I had ever hoped, he buried his head in his hands and muttered how? with tears streaming down his face. Excellent watch selection and extraordinary customer service. Last week I made my 3rd purchase here and each time was fortunate to be assisted by Rami, who makes every watch purchase experience second to none. When my watch arrived for pickup, since it comes in several variations, I wanted to run a few questions by Rami over the phone before coming to purchase it. So I contacted him and not surprisingly he was perfectly helpful with my inquiries. But what is so impressive is that at the tail end of our conversation it came up that he was not even at the boutique that day. In fact, he was out of the country! But is so professional and attentive to clients that he made himself available. I came to this store to exchange a Cartier watch that I purchased on the website. The salesperson that assisted me treated me like I had stolen the watch that I purchased online. At one point when she called me up to pay the difference, she waved her hand and said "sit back down" after I paid. Maybe she was having a bad day but people don't deserve to be treated like that and I left there feeling ashamed I had even done a transaction at this store. TL;DR Bad Experience/Unprofessional I've been collecting watches for years and worked with many AD/Boutiques and I've never publicly left any negative review. However, I feel like I need to this time. On 8/26/2021, I left AP and walked by the newly opened Bucherer TimeMachine store on 57th. I've never really had a positive experience with Tourneau but thought since Bucherer acquired them, things might have changed since Bucherer in Europe are well known for being very professional and their exceptional customer service. First I walked in and stood there for 5 minutes and nobody seemed to care to come greet or help out. Finally someone came talking to me after I looked at her in the eyes for 20 seconds. After a brief chat she asked another sales to take down my information. While I was putting down my info, the sales looked at my watch and said "is that an IWC"? (I was wearing an AP quantieme perpetual and holding an AP bag on my hand). I raised my hand so he could have a closer look, he stared at the dial and said "it's not an IWC?". I said "no". He then asked "what is it?". I then told him it is an Audemars Piguet and he looked very confused. Clearly he had no idea what the brand was. I am not offended by someone mistaking an AP for an IWC at all, but it did feel like he was not properly trained and knew nothing about watches. Very unprofessional. He then asked what I was looking for. I told him I'm kinda interested in the Rolex OP41 with turquoise dial. He immediately said "I can tell you it is impossible" even before I finished my sentence. After that, he said nothing else, didn't felt like he wanted to engage more so I left. I definitely understand it is not an easy watch to get at the moment and wasn't really expecting to get it from them at all, especially given that I don't have any purchase history with them. However, his attitude still shocked me, clearly they are making too much money and didn't felt like they need to develop new clients. Friends, if you are looking for an AD, there are plenty in the city. Please shop around and hope you get the timepiece you are looking for. read more

Absolute waste of time. I made arrangements several months in advance to have a tour of the new store with plans to purchase a watch for a very special family occasion. The day before I arrived I called to confirm my reservation only to be told by the person I had been corresponding for weeks, 'I'm off the next two days' despite confirming appointment date and time. When I arrived at the store, the sales team were so incredibly rude and arrogant. They literally told me, we have no mens watches, despite purporting to be the second largest watch store in the country (I understand that they were referring to Rolex watches, but they clearly did not want us to be there). I nonetheless looked at their collection. I asked to see one of the watches and the person who handled the watches had large suspicious looking pustules on their hands and arms -- the whole experience was so disturbing, you can't even make up this nightmare scenario. Walking into a Bucherer store is like taking a time machine back to 1985, which was pretty much the last time conspicuous consumption was cool. But these folks are trying really hard to make it seem like that's still the case and it is exemplified by their unnecessary arrogance and general condescension. I think they call it over- compensating. Never mind global warming or social justice, just buy yourself a Rolex and consume as much as you can, that's what's important in life. Anyway, it's been 40 years since I to patronized stores like this. A lot has changed in me and in the world in the past forty years. I realized that when I walked into the store to have one of my watches cleaned before I sold it. I haven't been to NY in quite a while and didn't realize Torneau had been acquired by Bucherer. The store has been completely remodeled and is a now a much more comfortable environment. The culture there has also changed for the better in my opinion. I'm not a high-end customer by watch standards, but the staff could not have been friendlier or shown better hospitality. I worked with Monique G. and Eman, who treated me with respect, gave me a fair deal on the watch I wanted and followed-up on some questions I had after the sale. I've been collecting watches since 2013 and I've never had such a great experience at an AD then my recent visit to the Bucherer Time Machine In midtown Manhattan. I recently stopped by the new Bucherer (formally Tourneau) Time Machine in midtown Manhattan to service an existing watch. Upon entering the store, I was immediately impressed by the new look and feel of the store's redesign. The new layout is a complete upgrade from the former Tourneau store and feels ultra-luxurious. After dropping off my watch downstairs to be serviced I decided to stay a bit longer and look around try on some of the new watches including my "grail" watch. I was really fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Rami and Liz. They helped me to purchase my "dream" watch and I'm really grateful to them both. Thank you, Rami and Liz, for adding to my list of highlights and smiles for this year. I'd also like to say that I found the entire staff Bucherer to be some of the nicest people I've encountered at luxury store. They're very engaging, approachable and work effortlessly to create the full luxury experience during your visit.
