Their customer service is awful. Whenever you call you are on hold for at least ten minutes, and then half the time the call gets disconnected. They charge you a retnal fee for a modem and there are only a couple very expensive modems you are allowed to provide on your own. They brag about being a local company but at least AT&T doesn't charge you to rent their modem (buckeye charges $18 a month for a modem that you can buy at best buy for $100). They don't honor their promos. I received a post card for a $200 gift card and when I called six months later was told I had to submit a competitors bill online and I asked for the website and I was told it had to be done within the first 30 days of service with buckeye. I have the postcard and there were no instructions given on it or by the rep who took the order. When I was on hold to wait for a rep to order new service for fifteen minutes, that should have tipped me off as to how bad their service i And the fees they charge busienss customers are beyond absurd. We have them for our telesystem at my company and if you wanted a printed bill it's $10 a month. Even though we opted out of the printed bill and get the bills online, they charge a $12 a month invoicing/convenience fee. For what????? the convenenience of providing an invoice for their awful service that we have to restrieve online They also charge an expensive fee to pay via credit card. I have a home based business and security cameras in my home, no wifi is a big issue. So, I called the Tuesday morning and was told they couldn't get anyone over to fix it until Saturday. I called again the next day and was told they could expedite someone to my home on Thursday at 9. I waited until 11, no one showed. I called and I talked to a representative named Stephanie, she told me she couldn't find where they told me they were sending someone on Thursday. She put me on hold for almost 40 minutes and kept coming back claiming she was working on things and it wouldn't be much longer. She finally came back and told me she would have to call me back in 30 minutes, which was a lie. She did not call me back. Stephanie needs more training and knowledge on customer service. Earlier in March I had called buckeye broadband and spoke to a representative to ask if I could have a reconnection established to the internet at my at home. The representative I spoke to was a foreign woman. She told me she was looking at the notes, and the notes stated that in order for me to reconnect my service, they did not want me to return the equipment I had gotten from them. They just wanted me to pay whatever money I had owed which is roughly about a little over $800. I told this woman that the company will take off the money owed for equipment if it is return again. She spoke to me and says she was looking at the notes and they said they did not want the equipment back. They just wanted the money owed for the 2 months I was behind and the money for the equipment. So I said to the woman what I will do then is pay the two months that I owe and I am not paying for the equipment. I will send it back through UPS. So the representative had repeated to me that (so you're only going to pay half of the bill?) I told the representative no you are not listening to me. I will pay the two months that I owe for for the 2 months but I am not paying for the equipment. After that she still insisted that was not a good idea and they only wanted the money I said. Okay, I tell you what I just will call back and speak to another representative and get this fixed the American way here in America people want back what they own which is property. They cannot get their property back. They want the next best thing which is money this representative tried lying to me to sucker me out of $800, not returning their equipment and giving false information in order to gain money from me. I simply hung up called back the next day. Spoke to a different representative and that person had no problem getting my service turned backed on with the same equipment that I still had from them. If you get a foreign representative who says all you have to do is pay a little bit of money in order to get your service or your requests fixed do not listen to them. Hang up, call again and wait until you get a proper representative. Who's not trying to sucker you out of cash? Buckeye e-mail has been down since about 3am Wednesday morning. This is inexcusable. If your 3rd party vendors are so incompetent, then what does that say about you? This on the same day I learn my new monthly rate will now be $352 - approaching car payment territory. We have the standard Internet that comes with our "VIP" bundle, no premium services such as HBO, Showtime, etc. and we do not buy any on demand movies. We do pay $30/month for unlimited data because we got real tired of having to constantly monitor our data usage and getting dinged an extra $15 each time we exceeded our "allotted" 250GB. And we pay extra for the Smart Net option with the Eero devices. And why do we do that you might ask? Because the Wi-Fi put out by the cheap, crappy modems Buckeye uses is so damned unreliable. Really too bad they have the monopoly in this area. Remember that when you vote people. Buckeye's monopoly exists because the morons you elect locally allow it. Sadly, in my area of town, the only other option is AT&T and their Internet maximum here is 45mbps via DSL. That doesn't cut it. What I will be doing is dumping Buckeye's cable TV portion and going with a streaming service. In summer of 2024 Buckeye told me I had to upgrade to fiber or lose service. Unfortunately when they put fiber in my neighborhood last summer they cut my dish cable, left a 3' deep hole in my backyard for 5 weeks, left an unburied cable for 3 weeks then as they were burying it found out the installer of the house box had it too low so they had to move it up which meant the cable was too short so they had to string new cable, then another 3 weeks to bury it but the imbecile they sent to bury it buried up to flower beds then stretched it across then began burying it again, so they had to send another crew out to run new cable which sat for another 3 weeks before they finally got it right. Now, they have a third party certificate verifier who verifys that Outlook certificates are up to date and they haven't paid the bill so the 3rd party hasn't provide service for the last 7 months. This means if you are running anything newer than Outlook 2010, it WON'T WORK. these chumps are the worst Internet service provider ever. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! They are constantly promoting new package option which take advantage of the ignorant. I needed 10mbps upload speed from their usual 5mbps, and it was like asking them to pull one of their teeth. I had to speak with a manager who questioned why I was requesting a higher upload speed. She then told me a different manager would call me back. The man called me back and said that wouldn't be a problem. I've now been on hold with them since 8pm, I've needed to call back multiple times because they continue to end the call before the estimated wait time. They charge me $129.99 a month for 200mbps download and 5mbps upload (laughable). For 129.99 Frontier offers 5000mbps. That's not a typo. 5000mbps or 5 gigs. And here buckeye is not only screwing over their existing customers offering seasonal contract deals which you may or may not be lucky enough to get, but they continue to offer poor Internet speeds at a high cost. It's extremely frustrating having to deal with a poorly ran monopoly as everyone in this area does. I'd consider buckeye broadband to be niggardly. My family has been a buckeye customer for years despite me advocating for a switch of provider. Buckeyes service is terrible. We pay for the absolute best that they offer and yet we have constant service interruptions. The WiFi connection is horrible. I had to purchase a splitter and about 100 feet worth of Ethernet cables to rig my office and gaming set up completely avoidant of wifi. Yet even on direct connection even simple tasks such as streaming off of YouTube, Netflix, or Spotify are too much and continuously lag or crash all together. Do not get me started on if you are a gamer. I play on ps5 and repeatedly "ping out" of games. I am 100% confident that the only reason buckeye is still in business is because of the older population in the locale that don't use modern day technology that requires the most bare minimum internet usage. Yet being charged significantly more for a "great plan" and all of the add ons just to get mediocre download and upload speeds. If we are going to be paying just shy of $200 a month for what we are receiving, (JUST FOR INTERNET NO CABLE OR PHONES) the least buckeye can do is finally offer fiberoptic internet in our neighborhood. This is a terrible cable and internet service provider. To begin with, for monthly wifi without unlimited data it cost us on average $115. We were forced into this arrangement because the apartment complex I was living in only had hookups for Buckeye (a monopoly in itself) and then after we cancelled our service (moving) we were not told when/where to return our equipment. We were then charge $195 for the equipment. After calling and being told all of our money would be refunded if we just returned the equipment we went in store and had a terrible interaction with an employee who was extremely combative to begin with and extremely rude. He said that we needed to pay for the few days in SEPTEMBER that we didn't even have because we disconnected at the end of August. We left, called their main office and spoke to a woman who appologized for the inconvenience said she'd credit us back and add an extra $10 for the trouble. Fast forward to NOW they have us on a debt collecting list for $40 that we didn't know was on the account, were told we had a clear balance, and have no way of getting on to an account because we are not current customers. This is one of the worst companies I've ever had the displeasure of working with. They try to cheat you out of your money, claim you've done the wrong things, the internet goes out 99% of the time and you get extra tacked on for going over data limits, just save yourself the trouble and don't do it. The most unreliable internet service. Outages on a weekly basis. Constantly resetting modem, often in the middle of a movie. For the price you're paying, it almost feels like a scam. Customer service line always reports no outages. The problem is always the outdated modem, which they provide you with. You can replace the modem, upgrade your router, but still have the same issue. I have had NOTHING ELSE pulling WiFi other than 1 tv and have monitored the signal. esp during peak times. The signal strength goes up and way down.
