I'm thinking that the main hoppers they send you are all used equipment. After 2 years on a 3 yr contract, I had to self install the "new" hopper even though they charge me $10 a month for that service. Of course I lost everything I had downloaded onto the DVR only to have the same screen freezing happening midway through a downloaded show just like before. Dish Network was sub par, but this Direct TV is even worse. Seems like they don't care enough to get the two networks to mesh correctly for their customers. I was so happy to get direct tv and AT&T. The cost at $90 a month including TV and internet. Fantastic...sadly only for the first year not 2 as i thought (goes up to $150). love the free movie list, yay free movies, oops only if you subscribe to the channel! Um then it isn't free is it. Im glad direct tv had DVR however know that selecting "record first aired only" means nothing because it will record every season of the show and if you delete a recording it will record it again. The sound is all over the place, i have to turn up and down durning shows. Argh so annoying. i am glad i got the dish planted in the ground instead of on my roof i feel it helps with weather interaction. The one thing i was worried about was it going out in bad weather. Well that issues doesn't exist the one time it went out was during a severe storm and it only lasted 10 mins. Update on that...its summertime apparently clouds are an issue, 80 degrees and no signal! Also one channel has been off for a month now all my true crime :( Also you can restart shows and movies thats awesome, however the show will jump about the quality is only good when you record the show. Another issue is you can set your DVR to record a show that you don't actually get so you can look forward to a movie or show only to find out it didn't record. Would give a zero star if I could Went to cancel my account today that I had for years under no contract because I got an email yesterday that my bill that's due on 7/27 went up $40... talked to 1 guy he barely understood me then waited for another almost an hour to be told that my billing cycle started back on 7/20 and they don't prorate so I cannot cancel until 8/19 (Mind u I got the email of the bill increase on 7/24) super shady company nothing but issues this whole year!! App didn't work I called multiple times and was told I'll get a call back they have to look into and it still don't work!!! After getting beat to death by Comcast and their inferior equipment, service, and attitude I switched to Directv. And for 14 months I've been very happy. However, I wanted to add a mini receiver to my package because we wanted to add a television set in another room. This is where everything turned south. Besides the $99 lease payment for the box, and the $6 per month added fee, they demanded a tech come out to install the mini box in a room that already has the digital coax cable run to it. That was a $49 charge. Plus, they demanded a new 2 year service be signed. Or, they would be kind enough to waive the 2 year agreement for a mere $100 more. Looks like I'll be switching back and forth between Comcast and Directv every two years now. Be nice if they valued their customers once they have them. read more

The worst thing AT&T did was put there name next to DirecTV.. I was happy with AT&T but now DirecSuck.. I never should have switched from ATT cable to DirecSuc the service is EXTREMELY expensive they charge you for stuff you never signed up for look closely to your bill. They charge you 300$ to move... when they don't move shit.. they just leave your old dish at your old house or apt. For you to take down. I called to switch service between two houses already with equipment set up as done before. This time they would not do it on phone. They required a service technician who took 5 hours to unnecessarily replace all perfectly working equipment because telephone people could not switch addresses with a phone call like they did before. And after he had hooked it up, the DirecTv office had the account wrong. What a waste of ATT $. I am totally disgusted with DirecTv now. read more

I have had our service for three weeks now. When they installed my cable they cut my Ethernet cord. They were suppose to be here between 8-10 this morning they still have not arrived and it's 9:50. Than last week they had to send a new cable box because the chip in the box was bad. I will never recommend this service to anyone. If I could give NO STAR I would. Home sick with Crohn's Disease and I've been on the phone over an hour trying to get my refund for services I wasn't able to get do to my heavily treed neighborhood. I called 8002882020 and was put in an endless loop of transfers from Direct Tv to AT&T to San Diego to combined billing to unknown area to Direct TV to customer Service to international customer service to waiting on the next area to pick up. FRUSTRATED and feeling worse!!!! The level of frustrating customer service between these two (At&t/Direct TV) companies beats Comcast and that's DAMN HARD to do. There's no respect of time. On the phone 1 hour 7 min and 45 seconds and I still didn't getiou a solid commotment from any of those 8 areas to refund the upfront fees they charged me. The representative (who sold me this service said if it didn't work out, when I expressed my concerns, I would get my money back. UPDATE!!! The Rep who signed me up in the Madison Heights, Michigan Sam's Club called me back(after 2 calls and a text) to inform me that I should have called a different number to get my refund, since they're a independent contractor. The worst company out there. I called to inquire pricing for 1 box and they sold me on a package that doesn't exist. The manager tells me that they are sorry that their employee told me something wrong and that there was nothing they can do. We have been loyal Direct TV customers for over 3 years. However, we have had their technician come out on multiple occasions due to service issues and equipment failures. We have their service in four rooms in our home. A few weeks ago, the remote in our living room stopped working. We called them and were advised that there are issues with their remotes and their engineering team is aware and once the issues were fixed we would be emailed updates. They were able to walked us through switching our remote to different setting and it worked for a day or so. We ended up having to call back a few days later because the remote was barely working and we were told that we owned the remotes and would have the pay $25 each to have the remotes replaced. This was not what we were told when we originally called to report the issue. After a very frustrating phone call with Direct TV, we informed them we would just cancel our service and get a different provider as we were not paying them for remotes that they already acknowledged they were having issues with. We contacted Xfinity and were scheduled for installation a few days later. A supervisor from Direct TV called the next day and said they would now send someone out free of charge to replace the remotes. This should have been done to begin with instead of telling us we would have to purchase new remotes and pay a fee for the technician to come out. Since we were still frustrated with their service, we declined the offer and told them we already had Xfinity scheduled to install their service on Friday. Each day, we were getting calls from Direct TV account managers asking what the issues were and why we wanted to cancel our service. We have explained the situation to multiple account managers at Direct TV over the last six days. We were finally advised that they would ship us a box to return the equipment in and they would give us a $300 Visa gift card. We requested again to speak to a supervisor and arrangements were made that they would ship the box, send an email with instructions on where to return the equipment and waive the cancellation fee (instead of the $300 visa gift card). Needless to say, we haven't received the email with instructions, nor have we received a box to return their equipment but we have received no less than 8 more calls from account managers. Today, at our wits end (after receiving another call from an account manager), we called Direct TV back at 800-531-5000. The first representative we spoke to couldn't locate our account (even though their account managers have had no issues dialing our phone number) so again we requested to speak to a supervisor. We were was connected to someone named "Chris" (after holding for 15 minutes). We tried to explained the situation to him and that we want the cancellation fee waived as promised, an email showing we owed a balance less than $170 (which was our last bill) and the box shipped to send their equipment back. Chris proceeded to tell us that our bill stands with the cancellation fee and is over $500. He said that they would not honor the $300 Visa gift card because that was only available to customer who were going to reconnect their service. When we asked to speak to a manager above him, he tried to tell us that he was the highest supervisor there. Give us a break...he isn't the president of Direct TV (so there is obviously someone above him). I worked in customer service for over 8 years and this is no way to treat your customers. If you representatives and supervisor promise something, you need to honor that agreement. The calls are recorded so if you didn't have all of the facts, you should have asked to look into it, review the calls and call us back. The supervisor named "Chris" decided he was going to put us on mute and not respond.... we told them they should consider our account paid if full since he didn't have the common courtesy to respond and then the call was disconnected. We will never used Direct TV as their representatives never tell the same story twice, they do not honor agreements with their customers and they lie!! read more

The system hasnt worked right since it was installed 6 months ago the sound keeps going out on hblo recordings dont fully record and then they have an automated phone system that takes forever to get through to speak to an actual human it tells me that it understands complete sentences but it doesnt it hasnt understood anything i have called about so far how annoying it is so that by the time i speak to an actual person i am not in a good mood anymore great picture horrible company and i dont recommend direct tv to anyone read more

In our 2 year contract they raised the rate $10 after a few months and beginning our 2nd year of our contract they said we have to get a qualified service through AT&T or our monthly rate is going up $55 more a month. WOW! Talk about Bait and Switch. Tech came out and after two hours left because although Direct TV required that my house be wireless they "forgot" to tell me that there is an "additional" $99 installation fee.. I said I don't need/want wireless however the technician said there wasn't an option. I called their sales dept while the technician was still there and the Supervisor managed to CANCEL the order completely. I spent the next two hours on the phone trying to get the order back and got disconnected TWICE. If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is! I had a new house built and wasn't able to get cable. So I opted to get DirecTV. After a month, my cat was playing with the cords and the unit fell and broke. I sent it back for replacement. The replacement didn't work and needed another replacement. By the time I got to installing it, I called service and they said my account was closed. They intentionally, without consent, to withdrawal from my bank account the money owed for a few months, plus they took out hardware costs. Now, the total was roughly $600. This money owed is all early termination fees. I didn't close the account they did. So I owe them money for what? You closing my account early? F@CK YOU. I had to call attorneys to get my money back for an unauthorized withdrawal of my bank account. FRAUD. I never closed my account and never gave them authorization to take my money out of my bank account. Very sketchy company. I'd watch out for them. I now pay them $2.50 a month to until the $600 invoice is paid so it doesn't go on my credit. What a sh1tty company to do that to someone. Hopefully others see the type of company this is. read more

we had these guys 3-4 years ago and had nothing but issues with the nil ticket. Constantly on the phone with them to get it back on. Bill was paid and everything just something lacking their end anyways, we ended up saying f this and cancelled. Got a flyer in the mail a week or so ago, the come back to whatever company, i figured it was a waste of time since it always is, i left them for a reason.. Anyways i figured why not!? So, i call them. After being on the phone with them for 35mins easily, repeating my info 4-5 times (lady said computer issues), telling her which package i want and finding out that the packages didnt include the HD reciever and such i was pissed. She repeated herself several times im guessing it made her think she sounded more convincing but, after saying no thanks 3-4 times i thought shed take a hint! NOT! I questioned her a few times "thats not what this says, thats not what i read" etc and again repeating herself. So i said nope im going to have to pass, i repeated this 2-3 times. It shouldnt have taken 35min to go through this process first off. Now, im getting an 866 number calling me which is DTV several times a day! When I go to cancel (because service is always loading) I was told there will be a $200 fee. I agree. Absolutely that's what I agreed to from the beginning. Final bill says $420 to cancel. Apparently signing that the installation was completed in also signed a bogus contract that I was not told about nor did I agree too. I have never in my life posted anything negative about a company, until now. Please save yourself an enormous amount of time, energy, and stress by NEVER doing business with ATT/DirectTV. I have had the worst customer experience in my life. Ironically we tried to add service to our existing account. By doing so my husband & I have spent nearly 11 hours on the phone with technical support, spoke with 26 support technicians, and will now be without service for a total of 12 days due to a company error. We also were told we have to pay $99.00 for a technician to come out to "fix" what the company broke. We will most certainly be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I normally keep to myself and not share good or bad reviews however Direct tv needs to take a ton of hits for the awful service they have provided me. We set up Direct tv last Sept. 2016. By november 2016 my direct tv box caught fire and fried my tv, DVD and dresser. Upsetting my family tremendously. The installer never grounded the wire and added an extra power pack to my box that was not needed. They came out and fixed the wire and gave us a new box. Told me to call the claims dept. I have called them so many times I lost track. Finally after 3 claims departments and multiple phone calls, I am finally getting a check from the Installers insurance agency for not even close to the amount of what it cost to replace the items ruined. Now I was paying my direct tv bill every month faithfully until April. I said since they are not replacing the things they burned then IM not giving them anymore money. Now still after multiple phone calls of trying to get the early term fee waived and my bill taken care of they have only offered my $20 off my bill and told me if I cancel they will apply the ET fee. Also they have put me into collections. I am so fed up with this company I could scream. I urge you all to NEVER go with Direct tv. I know damn sure I will never have their services in my home for as long as I live. read more

DIRECT TV: Call me naive but I had no idea that the dish removal was the home owners responsibility as per the contract. So in essence YOU REMOVE IT OR IT JUST SITS UP THERE AS FREE ADVERSTISMENT. I called and they said they would "look into the matter" and have the supervisor call me back. They again NEVER returned my call. I called back again and was hung up by automated machine twice, called back again and they said the order was cancelled because the technician didn't finish his previous job. I signed up for Direct TV because my AT&T U verse just went way up in pricing. I was scheduled for installation yesterday morning. They didn't show up. I called to find out why and the response was that I was taken off the route for some unknown reason. I told them that was their problem, not mine. I was scheduled for service and they needed to honor it. They called back and attempted to reschedule. I said no. They needed to honor the scheduled commitment that was arranged a week prior or I don't want their service. Needless to say, their competitors were more than willing to accommodate me. My entire experience with DirectTV has been the worse that I've EVER experienced. Day 1 install the technican was ill prepared. Left assuring us that our third genie would arrive by mail(never did) but we were still billed. Became a new customer based on a 90 day Free Premium Channel deal but our channels NEVER worked. Canceled the channels but they were never removed(more charges)Repair technicians failed to show up on three occasions. Our account was setup as some sort of Business therefore it became hit or miss when contacting customer service. Customer service calls always last at least an hour because either our account couldn't be located and we spent 20 minutes at a time being transferred to various departments. We've never had access to anything aside of basic tv and Internet however our bills are atleast 250.00 a month. Today I was unable to receive account information because our service wasn't properly working. Buffing, No picture or no connection u name it!!! read more

Was a direct TV customer and will never make that mistake again. Closed the account out and they were going to send me a box to ship the equipment back to them and the box never came. Called after they charged me for the equipment and I explained they never sent the return box. I asked them where they shipped the return box too and the address was not correct at all. The credited my account and agreed to send another box and still never got it. This month I got hit with the charge again. They have quite the scam going, my guess is they never send any boxes out and they hope most people won't notice the last charge. Finally I worked with my bank and blocked the auto pay. read more

Customer Service Help!! I was transferred to numerous call centers yesterday and need to figure out if I can get a direct contact person at AT&T's corporate office to reach someone who can actually assist me. I was on the phone for an hour and a half with biling, Direct and then Sales Support who then wanted to transfer me back to Billing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My elderly mother thought she was getting cable service when a tech showed up it was for a dish which she didn't want and can't even have in her complex. She sent them away and then started getting billed and 62.38. And now they have sent it to Diversified Consultants. There is no reason she should be billed for something she didn't want and didn't receive. When I called the call center they couldn't even find the charge anywhere but yet we keep getting billed for it. I need contact information in the Billing Dept (not a call center) that can assist in calling off the goons at Diversified because everyone I spoke to AT&T and Direct (thought it was all the same company but apparently not) said she didn't owe anything. I am frustrated and will continue to pursue this on Social Media and other review sites until I can get it resolved, I tried to do it the conventional way by making a phone call but that has not worked. read more
