After living about 45 min away for 15 years and being a craft brew enjoyer, I can not believe I've never stopped in. I don't get out this way often, but it's been a week since my visit, and I've thought several times about my eventual return.... I really enjoyed this place. It was a sunny Sunday (Father's Day" and I had an hour or two to kill on my way back from someplace and I thought I'd try a new place. It was conveniently located off of I-70 and I had never been in the town of Buckeye Lake before, so I was a bit curious. I was quite pleased when I drove up to see a roadside patio and an open air indoors (large windows that open up) for nice days such as these. Parking was easy to find in back. There's a casual restaurant attached where you can sit in and drink your beer while eating their food, or vice versa: Sit in the brewery and go pick up your food when it's ready. The bartenders were great. There's a water station and clean bathrooms just beside the bar. Ordering my flight was easy, the menu was easy to read and the bartenders were knowledgeable and bonus: seemed happy to be there. The playlist sounded like it was taken from my Spotify playlists! It was like perfect for me. I told a friend afterward about several songs they played, and they were like, did they have access to your data somehow? Like, how did they know to play your favorite songs? So kudoos to whomever curated the playlist on the evening of Father's Day, 2026. It was perfect. I love the feel of the place. Lots of boaters stopping in from the dock across the street after a day at sea and some people just hanging out, chilling. It felt like I was in a resort town in the summertime (maybe I was?). It also appeared family-friendly, which is a selling point to me, but at the same time a comfortable place for adults to do adult things. I look forward to visiting again sometime soon, preferably while the weather is still nice. read more

I just had a small glass of the Buckeye Lake Blonde beer they had on tap, and it was very good! I believe it was an 8 ounce glass, but they also have 16 ounces (a pint), 20 ounces, 32 ounces, 64 ounces and 128 ounces. One bummer is that I had to pay cash for my lil' drink, because it was under a certain amount (I can't remember what that was). Otherwise, they do take credit card. I sat at the bar and sipped my beer, but they do have tables. They also have seating outdoors on the patio. There is also another section of the building where they serve food, but I didn't check that out this time. read more

What a Hidden Gem! I'm not usually one to leave Yelp reviews, but after such a great experience tonight, I felt it was well-deserved! My husband and I brought my mother-in-law here after a terrible experience at the Boatyard just up the street--and The Chef Shack completely turned our Mother's Day around. The bartender with the pink highlights was absolutely incredible! She went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and special, and it truly meant a lot. We had no idea this amazing spot was just around the corner from my mother-in-law's house, but we're so glad we found it. So good! We were warmly welcomed on the All Ages side immediately by the woman at the counter. She could tell it was our first time in and didn't make it awkward, but explained everything to us right away. It was lovely. We ordered pretzel bites, grilled cheese, cheeseburger, and a fish and chips for my husband and I to share. We ordered 2 IPA's from the brewery side and settled in. The food was absolutely delicious. Our sons (11 and 7) loved their food and said the pretzel bites were the best they've had. Beers were tasty! We highly recommend! read more

So my friends and I wanted to stop by this brewery since we were in the area-ish. Honestly, we thought since it was named Buckeye Lake Brewery that it'd be lakeside. We were wrong. However, that did not make the experience any less enjoyable. I mean if it were lakeside, it's be even greater but it was still a nice brewery with a good selection of beers. They're in the process of moving their brewery so the selection wasn't even their full lineup when we were there. Anyway, we sat outside and were welcomed by very friendly staff. They explained to us their covid precautions and the food/drink separation. It is next to a "major" street in this area though so that's something to keep in mind ambiance wise, but its such an unpopulated area that it wasn't a big deal. Though, my friend noted that people kept staring at us and a couple cars honked. Why this happened is beyond us but again, not on the brewery at all. Onto the actual beers, we each got a flight and of course they had special fall beers. I LOVED the apple pie blonde, idk how they made it taste like an apple pie but they did and I was all for it. The pumpkin mocha was also delicious and a great fall stout. They had some guest beers as well and I think the pineapple one I got was a guest beer but also great. There's something to be said about the service you get when you go to a bar/brewery outside of the city. You get treated like a real person and not just number. It's refreshing. I came in early and probably during the time of the year when boating season is winding down. That did not effect the great tasting beer they had. I've had the beer before but it was my first time here. Fantastic selection of in-house and seasonal beers. The place was much bigger than expected with a large front patio area off of the street. The winter shady was delicious and the sugar rimmed glass added a nice addition to the beer. I also enjoyed the freaky tree. I stopped by here this past Sunday afternoon with my wife for some drinks. We were looking for a brewery with a fun name or nice design to buy a pint glass from and decided Buckeye Lake Brewing was that place. Whenever we arrived here we were sort of confused about where we could and couldn't park since the Chef Shack and it share a building. We ultimately ended up parking behind the building and walked past a nice outdoor space to get inside. Once we did we were immediately greeted by the friendly bartender. Upon hearing that we had never been there before he explained that you could order food from the Chef Shack and eat it anywhere and order beer and drinks from him. There actually aren't any doors in between the Brewery and the Chef Shack and while I didn't see it, it sounded like they compliment each other perfectly. The inside of the brewery has both booths and tables (low and high top), an 8 person bar with white subway tile on the back and tile under the bar stools. They there were wood floors through the rest and near the bathroom a double shelf of growlers (~30 growlers per shelf) from all over. Last but not least their beer list was on the wall and was displayed on what looked like the back of t shirts but may have been pieces of cloth as well. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I went with a flight here. At Buckeye Lake Brewery I was given the option of a 4 beer flight or an 8 beer flight and chose the 4 which only ended up costing $5! The beers that I chose were the Blueberry Pie Blonder, Brown Porter, Bang and Go Back Black IPA, and Legend Valley IPA. I started out with the Blueberry Pie Blonde which was a nice and smooth beer that finishes with a nice taste of blueberries. Up next was the Brown Porter which started off with some of the brown toffee/caramel notes before finishing with a bit of smokiness. Third was the Bang and Go Back Black IPA and the hops hit right in the middle of this one and went through to the finish along with a bit of citrus which was odd for the dark color. Last but not least was the Legend Valley IPA which was a bright and somewhat sweet beer that had a hint of hops on the finish. Out of the bunch I think I liked the brown Porter the best closely followed by the Black IPA. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Actually I may need too as I never did get that pint glass as they had an event the prior week which left them without any for sale. In any case I did enjoy the beers here and would be interested in trying some of the food from the Chef Shack if I was hungry also. read more

Buckeye Lake Brewery is a great bar. It has a simple beer menu. There isn't much food but you can get a pizza. It's located in a small resort town with lots of other choices. There isn't a lack of bars but if you're looking for something with better quality, come here. I had the idea this place wouldn't be good. It doesn't look like much. The outside of the building looks like a small town dive bar, and a closed one at that. It took me several tries to see it. The building is that nondescript. Inside it was much better. The best one was the Buckeye Lake Light. It's about $3 for a draft. The pale ale is not my preference but it was not as hoppy as some other IPAs. If you want something to eat they offer free popcorn, but if you want a real meal you have to go somewhere else or have a pizza delivered to the brewery. The brewery is partnered with Pizza Cottage, and they will bring it right to you. I like what I had at Buckeye Lake Brewery. It's way better than you think a small town brewery would be. The IPA is the best and get some free popcorn. read more

Beer is ok. I've had better and worse. Did like that they have a cider option now because when we had come here in the past, there wasn't a cider. Liked the beer with the bobber added better for sure. Not family friendly compared to other breweries we are used to on the east side of Columbus. We were told "minors are not allowed to walk around freely" after we let our 7 year old take a menu back to the food side of the building and he stopped to watch the sporting event on the TV on that side of the building. We are used to breweries & restaurants on this side of Columbus being open to families, with freedom for parents and kids alike to enjoy themselves... but don't expect that here. read more

This brewery has some nice beers. It's set up to look sort of like a beach shack. We were in on a Friday, and it was crowded, but we were still able to get a table right away. There is a good deal of outdoor seating, as well. The view is eh, but that's not what you are here for. There is a restaurant attached that is not part of the brewery that is pretty good. They have their own bears, a limited wine selection, and a bourbon selection. I had their experimental ipa first, which was great. It was citrusy and vivacious. Was in town for a festival and this place was recommended by a friend. We came around 6 and it was fairly busy. Sat ourselves in the booth and ordered everything off the menu. We were both starved! I also ordered a beer flight as I couldn't make up my mind! The server, wish I caught her name, was fantastic and very knowledgeable on the beers on tap. The food was absolutely wonderful. Loved this little brewery and they make some excellent beer! Tried a few different ones and each was unique and enjoyable. The staff were WONDERFUL! And kept up with orders like I've never seen. Stopped here based on a recommendation from another local brewery (Homestead). So glad we listened - this place is definitely worth checking out! Beer - we ordered the flight which was 8 4oz beers on tap for $9. Cream ale, Irish red, amber ale and 2 porters were all 2 thumbs up from me. I'm not as big a fan of IPAs, but people we were with said they were great as well. The vanilla porter is worth mentioning - I expected it to taste artificial (as many do), but it was a pleasant surprise. My favorite was the amber - easy drinking, pretty color, just plain yummy. Note - they also serve bourbon. No mixers. Yummy! Root beer that they brew is served as well. Most days, there are food trucks available to fill your belly and soak up that booze! Bartender - her name escapes me which is too bad because she was fabulous! Very knowledgeable of the beer and the area. Friendly, made us out-of-towners feel welcome. Inside was clean and inviting. Great old repurposed bar. Industrial feel for decor. There is also a nice outside seating area, but we opted to stay at the bar because we were really enjoying our chat with the bartender! Bathrooms clean as well. A really unique feature of this brewery is a manual canning machine. They have 32 oz cans that they will fill from the tap and seal in front of you. Very cool idea and perfect for travelers like us for whom growlers are not practical while on the road. We got a couple cans to take home with us - can't wait to crack them open! Cans are $6 with the exception of one or two of the higher ABV beers, I think they're a dollar more. All in all, I wish we had more time to spend here. I plan to come back! read more

I'm going to keep the 5 star momentum going here. Very nice beer brewed here. It's going to be a lot to drink but I highly recommend getting a flight of ALL the beer they brew. I'm not a huge fan of dark and red, but enjoyed tasting them. I'll sometimes have to choke stouts down but not this time. They also have a few other places represented on tap and also feature bourbon. Beer and bourbon bar. Nice. They do growlers and even "fresh fill" cans. They have a machine that will seal the can in front of you. Pretty neat and nerdy. They also have different sizes of glasses of beer you can try. I believe the smallest was 3 oz. No outside food. Cottage Pizza will deliver and food trucks will stop by on occasion. Drink local! read more

My wife and I stopped here on the way home from picking up an item from Facebook marketplace. There are some parking spots out front, but we parked in a lot across the street. My wife has the Somerset Wheat and I had the Legend Valley IPA. She didn't like her beer and mine was a typical IPA. We sat in Adirondack chairs and the mosquitoes were swarming around us.
