This is definitely one of the coolest micro breweries that I've been to. It's in an old warehouse that apparently used to make glass molds. I only know this because there was an older gentleman at the bar who said his dad used to work there. The space is super basic with just enough decor to make it really cozy as well. It's situated on the river, so if you're sitting at the end of the bar you can look out the window and see the water. They've kept the place pretty much intact from it's original use, which I think adds to the charm. The bar tender was super welcoming and friendly, and so was everyone around the small bar. I only had their West Coast IPA, and it was on point. When I'm back in Zanesville I will definitely return. read more

Stopped tonight for dinner with family. The pizza was delicious. We tried several different ones for the table. We also tried the nachos, meat and cheese, and breadsticks. The beer they have on tap was also good. Service was fast and good. The inside was a fun taproom or distillery vibe. read more

Great little gem hidden next to the river. The mango wheat my wife had was tasty and I enjoyed the cider. Pizzas were both good as well. Went with the Jenny pizza and not disappointed. It was my 4th or 5th time here last night (03/08/24) and it's always been great! The pizzas are fresh and delicious, the beer is consistently good, and the service and ambiance is inviting and friendly. The live music on the weekends is always a plus. We had a great seat on the patio overlooking the river and had a very good BBQ Chicken Pizza. Very laid back with a good percentage of regulars to give it that homey feel. read more

If you're going through Zanesville go to Weasel Boy. It's worth a little trip off the interstate. Probably the best beer in this area of Ohio. Located in a cool old building. There's a nice view of the river from the patio seats. I had the Brown Stoat Stout. It's one of the medium beers. This isn't light but it's not too hoppy. It's pretty easy to drink. They let you have free samples. It's about $5 a pint at happy hour, which is Tuesday to Friday until 7. A lot of seasonal beers are constantly being rotated. There's a large variety of taste. It has lighter ales and lagers like the Ornery Otter. There's also something heavy like the Sour Cherry Stout. It also has some food. Stuff that goes good with a beer like bread and pizza. Location is fun. Maybe not fun to get to. This is on a twisted road by the river along a cliff in one of the more rustic parts of town. read more

I'll probably need to give this place another try sometime. But first impressions mean a lot. They didn't do anything wrong, I just didn't find much to come back for. It's in a strange location off the beaten path. I get it though. It's a cool building on the river. I enjoyed the indoor space. Great decor and he bar area was cool. The bartender was nice enough. I had a flight so I could taste several of their beers. The ones I remembered were Dancing Ferret IPA, Brown Stoat Stout, and Romping Weasel, the last of which was my favorite. But nothing that I wanted more of enough to get a pint. As I said, I'd give it another shot, but I guess I'll need more of a reason to stop in again. read more

I've been coming here for good craft brews for about 8 years now, long before local breweries became a big deal and they started popping up left and right. I can honestly say this place has become a home away from home! The owners Jay and Lori are passionate, fun people who take business seriously but know how to enjoy themselves throughout the process of running a phenomenal business. Over the years they've grown from biz owners to great friends. The atmosphere is amazing and there's a lot of opportunity to catch some good live music while you're there. If there isn't a band scheduled that night, don't worry! There's always amazing art on the walls. It's somewhat of a gallery and that can leave you entertained for a good while. NOW - the beer! The beer here is amazing and I love how it rotates throughout the year allowing for great seasonal brews to be showcased. Their IPA is freakin' awesome and their Anastasia Russian Imperial Stout is to die for! They've won many awards for their brews and once you have one, you'll easily see why. They also regularly have fun events to attend. If you ever get a chance to come by for Halloween, you won't regret it! They have a great costume contest and its always a fun time. If you're looking for a good place to get a beer, maybe some pizza, and enjoy some live music and good company, Weasel Boy is an awesome choice. You won't be disappointed! read more

First time here! It's so close to the highway and hotels it should be a destination! The pizza was flavorful, on a wheat crust, and not greasy! The otter ale was delicious! I loved the various sitting areas-comfy chairs near the bar, an outdoor view of the river, a tiki room open during certain hours, art gallery, and the musicians perform right on stage with the brewing vats! Ample parking in a lot right across the street. Nice owners! We drove over 90 miles to hear Davey O. from Buffalo perform. It was a wonderful getaway! A random Wednesday night. Wife & I thought pizza & beer sounded good. Hadn't been here in awhile. Found the Weasel Boy on a wednesday evening in February, so didn't get to enjoy the outside, but inside was first class, casual but friendly. My review here is mixed...pizza - stone oven grilled, absolutely OUTSTANDING! No lumpy wimpy! The large size was MORE then enough for 2 people! Beer - first, you gotta know...I'm NOT a beer expert. Only know what my brother taught me. My first beer was very flat, The Ornery Otter. Bartender, Ben, was very nice & replaced it with a Mango Wheat. That was pretty good...but not fabulous. The Plaid Ferret Scottish Ale was tasty & had potential...I'm wondering if the lines need cleaned.(?) The staff here are outstanding, very friendly & accommodating. The location is super nice. This is a Brewery with FANTASTIC potential! They do have an outdoor patio where we were allowed to have our dog, & gave us a water bowl! Outstanding! The view is very nice, a teensy bit of tree trimming could probably get get somebody a couple free beers! it's peaceful here & I would say one helluva place to unwind! There were some flies - they could put out those little fly guns & have tournaments! Ha ha! If I had the bucks I'd buy this place in a New York minute because I think some fabulous food, beer, music could happen! Don't miss this joint, even if you're a beer snob. I'm a Weasel Boy... and I'm proud of it. It's my favorite bar on the East side of Ohio. Any time I am able to find myself at a bar stool with some time on my hands I'll make sure I'm sitting at Weasel Boy. I tell you, there is something different about this place. Something that feels like home. the relaxing vibe, the good people, and the outstanding service. I personally like to hang out in the couch area while live bands play on the back stage. The brews, honestly, are my favorite that I have ever had out of Ohio. There I said it. Beer, pizza and pretzels, put it on my tab and lets stay a while. Not to mention the owners are extremely cool. I'm a video production student, and they allowed us to shoot a scene for independent film my team was working on over the summer and they let us in with no problems. Great people. We love Weasel Boy. We stopped Thursday while camping nearby and it was great. We got a flight of everything they have for 8 bucks. We then order a pizza and out beverage of choice. I got the Anastasia which was a limited Christmas is July celebration. It was awesome. All the brews are well done. The pizza had mi ex reviews on here so I was a little concerned but it ended up being very good. They have open mic night on Thursday which is fun to watch. It is small but a great brewery. We will return. Highly recommend and service is great. read more

We have gone to this Brew Pub twice now and have enjoyed both the beer and pizza each time. We had quite the interesting experience to say the least with other patrons in the restaurant. But more on that craziness later. Their menu is limited but they definitely deliver! They use local ingredients for many of their pizza toppings as well as their own brew added to the pizza crust. I ordered their specialty pizza "The Jenny" and was not disappointed. Very delicious! Service of overall so-so. The servers are somewhat impatient with their patrons. For example, we asked to keep a beer menu on the table and the waitress told us to just look at the barely legible chalk board across the room for the beer selection. We also observed her rolling her eyes over something minor. Little things like that can easily be improved for a better experience. The "interesting" part of the story is as follows: The night we went was a Comic Book/Super Hero night. There was a contest for people to dress up as such. There was a man walking around the room where patrons were eating and he was dressed in a Jason Voorhees costume. He intentionally was walking very slowly and stopping to stare at people eating in order to freak them out. I understand it's a night to dress up and have fun, but don't harass people not involved in the party trying to get a rise out of them. None of the staff asked this man to cease this behavior. His pizza finally came out and he took off the mask. Harmless, yes.... inappropriate.... I'd say so. Weasel Boy serves some of the best beer I've ever had. I'm surprised saying this considering it's located in zanesville, usa--home of fast food restaurants and used car lots. The vibe is fantastic with a great view of the river. There is a porch area out back with some chairs; provides a great view and chill environment. The staff is also laid back and more than happy to answer your questions about one of their beers. (They serve about a dozen or so at any one time.) Not only does Weasel Boy sh- - on the rest of the bars in zanesville, I would happily go here if it were located in NYC, SF, etc. (May seem like an awkward comment, but if you live in zanesville you would understand. A wonderful brewery, a great find, and yet another reason to stop into Zanesville, even if you're only on your way through on I-74. The beer was fantastic. I especially liked the IPA and the stout. But even beer styles that I don't usually like were done particularly well at Weasel Boy. (For example, I usually shy away from fruit beers. But at Weasel Boy, the Mango Wheat and the Pawpaw Ale had only a hint of fruit -- enhancing the flavor of the beer but not masking it.) Oh yeah, and who doesn't appreciate a place that makes beer out of the pawpaw, Ohio's native fruit! I would give them five stars, but the music -- although good -- was just way too loud. read more

And of course, the Y-bridge and the giant vase Stonehenge. Well then, add another footnote. This one about Weasel Boy brewery. Write, "Have dinner at Muddy Misers and walk next door to Weasel Boy." OK, I'm done. Well, almost. I recommend the walleye ruben or crab cakes at Misers, and the Mad Ferret Scottish Ale at Weasel Boy. Or the Bitter Sable Black IPA. It's a hoot. Or whatever sound a sable makes. Do they actually make any sounds? If they do, or could, I'm sure they'd say, "I'm proud to be a part of Weasel Boy." Even if weasels aren't their zoological pals. Ripped flesh or otherwise. Sorry. Don't ask. By the way, they have a vintage audio setup in the bar area that reminds me of why I became so enchanted with musical exploration over 40 years ago. Beer is their claim to fame, and they do not disappoint. Seasonal brews and specialties are all delicious, and you can find them in a few local restaurants as well, including Muddy Miser's next door (I reviewed Muddy's a while back). The pizza at Weasel's though is not one of my favorites. The crust is an interesting recipe and not all that good. It has the tendency to be raw in the middle, and just doesn't work in flavor, texture, and the ability to hold up the toppings, in my opinion. read more

We came to Weasel Boy on a Friday afternoon. It was a bit confusing coming in for the first time - there are two separate rooms and not a whole lot of direction, but a super nice girl figured we were unfamiliar and helped us out! You seat yourself and they serve food - I saw a lot of soups and pizzas. We were only there for the beer... there was a good selection of beers, with a slight tendency towards hoppier beers (like most microbreweries right now i feel like). I had the mango wheat and the feisty fisher amber ale. I really liked both! I'm partial to the amber ale. The bartender warned me before he poured it that it was a bit hoppy, which was considerate of him, but I didn't really think it was really! My date had the Dancing Ferret and the Hoppy Weasel - the Hoppy Weasel being the favorite. They had some free pretzels to snack on but I think you have to ask for them? I thought the staff was very friendly (we talked about my car so that's an automatic good time to me) but the bartenders did not like filling growlers - I think this is somewhat of a trend I've been observing but not understanding at microbreweries. It is a bit of a local place - to be expected in a smaller town like Zanesville, I'd think. The bartenders definitely preferred serving and recognized many of the more regular patrons. I think there's some sort of program where you can get a mug and possibly get a discount on each beer you get? I'm not sure - I didn't ask but I was trying to snoop around (unsuccessfully). I think we'll be back when we come back to Zanesville and I'm thinking I'll want to try the flight, which is all 10 beers they currently have on tap, and it's only $8.50 during happy hour (M-F 4-7PM). For a fun drinking game while you're visiting Weasel Boy, drink for everytime I said some version of the word "hoppy". But honestly my number one question was why was Weasel Boy not named Weazel with a Z for Zanesville!! read more
