Came here after a tasting at noble cut distillery (next door). Heart State makes great craft beer. They had 10 different types on draft so lots to choose from. We had no problem tasting a lot of it. We not only wanted to drink but wanted to order food and was happy to learn they now have a small kitchen. Our bartender recommended their pizzas. So, we ordered the Italian and loved it. It was kind of like if a hoagie married an pizza and had a baby.... Poof, the Heart State Italian pizza! By the way, they are on the Columbus Ale Trail. Check that out at http://www.cbusaletrail.com/. The tap room is huge. Lots of seating. Good for groups. Big game room with pinball, billiards, darts etc.... The menu is limited but the pizza we had was surprising good and crust and cheese pull were excellent. They had subs, wraps and quesadillas. The manager, Kim, said they are adding boneless wings and some other items soon. If you are looking for a casual, fun way to spend some time, check out Heart State.

I've been here twice on weeknights since I don't work far from here. Both times, the bartender has been chatty in a good way: very friendly and welcoming and is glad to tel me about the product. And both times I've found beer here I enjoy. I have several reasons to stop in when I'm in the area. No outdoor seating (that I'm aware of) but plenty of space inside, either at the bar, or one of many tables. Good, friendly, crowd. A place I feel comfortable hanging by myself, or chatting with the bartender or other people sitting a the bar. I feel like they have their regulars, but the staff and the regulars seem to welcome newbies like myself! There are people that seem to love this place and it's clear why. I'm hoping I can make it back with friends sometime, because it would be a cool "hidden gem" to show people.

Had to leave a new review because I checked out the "new" space. While it's in a warehouse area it's very large and inviting inside. Cool to have a game room attached, though I didn't play any. Service is great, there are even some snacks, and the beer is delicious. They switch it up pretty frequently, and tons of selection to build your own six pack.

I was on my way to another brewery and saw this new brewery pop up in my periphery. I parked my car and went to the front door and saw that they were closed. A wonderfully kind man came out and said that they didn't open till three but he would absolutely let me come in and have a beer. What a wonderful experience! We choose a beer and I had one of the best stouts I've ever had! My bartender was amazing too! Very happy to serve me with a smile! The decor of this place is amazing, and the variety of beer on tap is great! Haven't tried it out yet? You've got to put this gem on your "to do" list! I'll be back, for sure!

Same brews. The barrel wall is a nice touch.

Haven't been here in a while and wanted to stop in. I followed the directions like my navigation told me. I thought it took me to the distribution center or a location where they brew the beer, I noticed the "open" neon sign in the window, Walked in and recognized the bartender. It's their new location. Not too far from their old one off Morrison Rd. Much bigger space inside. I like it. Same great beers and staff. Dog friendly.

I visited for the soft opening of their new location in Gahanna. The building offers more room for gathering, including TVs, pool tables, and patios in front of the building and in the back. I can see this being really fun in the warmer months. There is a wide variety of beers on tap and in can from the brewery and a couple guest brews. You can also order cocktails if that's more of your style. I've enjoyed their Amber Ale and Shandy on draft so far. They offer bags of chips but no food, so either order from a food truck or bring something in.

We stumbled across this place as it was on the Columbus Ale Trail and we were beyond impressed with the location and the tastiness of the beers.

I got the Korean BBQ smash burger topped with Korean BBQ aioli, Cleveland Kraut Kimchi, gochugaru (korean chili flake) and scallion. I don't understand the smash burger craze since I like my burgers medium rare, but if I have to eat a smash burger to enjoy these toppings, I'm in! The heat, texture and combination of flavors were epic. The fries are well done too! They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and this was even after 30 minutes. Nothing fancy but done amazingly well and very quickly. My burger was out in a few minutes. I will say that the pizzas I saw coming out of the kitchen will have me coming back to try one of them. The beer was good, although I'll admit that the heat from the burger affected my pallet to truly enjoy the beers since I got a tasting flight. I was here on a Friday night between 5:45 and 7 and it was filling up until I was ready to head out. They do have happy hour on Friday from 2-5pm for $1 off pints.

I appreciate when walking into someplace I'm unfamiliar with, I am welcomed in graciiously, even though they don't know me at all. I ordered a flight of beer so I could try a few different beers. I also ordered a pint afterward of one of the IPAs I enjoyed. My server recommended some flavors to try while I was there and he was spot on. (I interacted with two different servers, one male, one female, both equally helpful and friendly). I would return, only in part for good beer, moreso it's the inviting feel I get from this place. This staff realizes that we have options around town and they made me feel like they wanted me there.

The focus on the beer was mostly on lagers, which I love. Only negative: the man pouring the taps there one of the nights has no clue what he was talking about. I asked him the difference between two of the bocks they had on tap (a helles bock and a maibock...debately the same style, if not very similar) and he said "how strong the Belgian yeasts are" in a very confident tone. I told him I had never heard of bocks being made with Belgian yeasts, and he said it's "a Cincinatti thing". I got a taste of the beer, and there were no phenolics (for non beer nerds: it had no Belgian flavors) so I ordered one and didn't argue.

We hit up several breweries on a recent trip to Columbus, and Hoster was my favorite beer of the trip. It was just well made, good tasting beer - nothing crazy. To top it off, there's bottomless self-serve popcorn and a vintage jukebox topped with a bowl of free quarters to play your favorite selctions from the decades. The collections of artifacts from Hoster's storied histories, make the walk to the bathroom like a visit to a mini-museum. I loved the homey decor and selection of tables, barstools, and comfy chairs. This place was somewhat family friendly, but it's not a huge space, so it's not great for tots that like to run around. I believe there might have been soooome seasonal outdoor seating, but nothing crazy. Lots of parking and easily accessible. The bartender was super welcoming, friendly, and generous! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy - that was welcomed! Hoster is worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Their brews rival the big names in the area.
