Was in town for a short visit and glad I was recommended this spot by some locals. I went with the Ed and it was fantastic. I couldn't finish it all it was a good size sandwich. The seasoned fries will make your blood pressure rise and cause water retention with the amount of salt. Service was prompt, despite a lime...it moved quickly. I would write a review for this place - but we intentionally didn't get served by the staff. The reason given: "They've been really slow this day and they're closing early". We arrived at 7:05p. The door states they're open until 8p. When we walked in and started to look at the menu, everything seemed normal and the staff answered one question we had. We then ordered various entrees and an order of smoked wings. They even asked what kind of sauce we wanted etc. Then, on a dime, the head person tells us "Our stuff will be in to-go containers". We're further told we couldn't eat inside since they're closing early. It's extremely extremely rare that (I) ever walk out of a place. But tonight, it seemed fitting to walk out. My suggestion to you: Do not ever think of darkening the door of this place. My last visits here had the food being barely ok to lousy. So disappointed! We have been going here for years! This time was definitely my last for awhile! We always get the burnt end salad, they were literally bite size portions this time, cut one burnt end into tiny pieces to look like it covered the salad. We were really excited to try this place. The pictures on Yelp looked really good and the building just looks like an old barbecue smokehouse that you knew was probably the best in town. It had that kind of vibe to it. Unfortunately, it didn't quite meet our expectations, but it wasn't too bad. I got the four meat platter, so I was able to try the brisket, turkey, sausage, and ham. I will say, the sausage was phenomenal. That was my favorite thing out of everything I tried. I would absolutely go back to get that. The ham was also pretty good, which I did not expect honestly. I would probably get that again as well. The horseradish slaw and pit beans were great. I would definitely get those again. The brisket and turkey were incredibly dry and flavorless. They're sliced really thin, which I thought I would like, but they were just so dry. I would not get those again. Mac & Cheese looked great, but tasted like macaroni noodles that were dropped into a random generic packet/jar of cheese sauce, warmed up, then topped with shredded cheese and baked, so that it looks like a good baked mac & cheese, but that's not at all what it was. Very disappointed with the mac & cheese. The horseradish sauce that they give you with your meal was fantastic. I never would've guessed that horseradish would've been so delicious with the barbecue food and barbecue sauce. And speaking of the BBQ sauces, both of those were good- the spicy and the regular/mild. The lady working as the cashier was very nice. We really enjoyed the vibe of the whole place. I just wish the barbecued meats were more juicy and flavorful. Also, the women's restroom could use a good scrubbing and dusting. Would we come again? Quality of many of the bbq meats is way below par. Additional proof that something is fishy about so many reviews being posted. This is a solid 2/5 bbq joint. Tired recipes and a disservice to the meats that had potential, but were stripped of their possibilities. My friend recommended it to me, and I have to say for $17 this place is amazing. Coming from Texas I eat a lot of barbecue. *This place definitely delivered on their burnt ends, they were moist with a nice chard crust it was warm and fresh when ordered and it was cooked to a medium/medium rare! Perfect! The pulled pork was perfectly cooked too. Their sauces were spicy or mild. Just traditional but delicious. My only complaint was the green beans were basic nothing to get. How this place has as many stars as it does is a mystery. Our first visit was terrible, but we decided that maybe we had just hit a bad day, so we gave it another try. After sitting in the drive thru for nearly 30 minutes, despite being the only car there at around 6:30 that evening. The place is run by a group of surly teenagers that desperately need some supervision. Our second order was for a chicken sandwich and a burnt end salad. The chicken breast on the sandwich must have been nuked in the microwave because it was literally so rubbery and chewy, our dog had trouble chewing it. The burnt end salad was basically a huge bowl of lettuce with three or four small burnt ends on top. Definitely better options for bbq in Springfield. read more

This place was an excellent way to finish the day off after walking through Bass Pro Shop. The environment is unlike most restaurants that you place an order with the cashier. When you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and the cook asks what you'd like to eat right at the window. We discovered this place a few years ago when we walked out of Bass Pro-Shop and smelled the smoke, we followed our noses and fell in love with this place. We stop here every time we are passing through on our way from Iowa to Branson. This year we got the 3 meat combo dinner, regular brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich (last one we didn't get a picture of).
