I just wanted to share with you all about the most wonderful little dress shop in Saginaw, MI. It…read moreis called Lola's Bridal on Gratiot in Saginaw. I called a few days prior to see if they were open on the 5th and they called me back and let me know that they would be open, so I made an appointment. I showed up with my mom, sister, niece and sis-in-law and spent the whole day trying on gowns. Shannon the manager was helping me and I gave her full reign on picking out what she thought would look good on me. She picked out a bunch of dresses and I started going to town. Kelly the owner was also there at the store and she was pulling dresses too, so I had both of these ladies helping me out. These ladies have taste! They both selected such beautiful gowns, and at first I was thinking that I would never find anything because all of the dresses were so pretty...but then I narrowed to down to two. My family and i took a break for lunch and while we were goneShannon pulled a few more for me. When I got back I tried on the other gowns, and even though they were nice...I went back to the first two. Shannon and Kelly were very helpful, but I totally felt no pressure regarding what they thought was better, nor did I feel pressure to purchase. I actually went in not thinking that I would be purchasing, but I loved their service so much that there was no way that I was going to purchase this gown from anyone else! From bridal gowns and accessories, to bridesmaid dresses, they are a full service salon. I would highly recommend them...tell them Carrie Sue sent you! It is not necessary to make an appointment but I think that it is helpful. There were a few other brides in the salon while I was trying on dresses (but I was there for 6 hours:) Since I was in no hurry I kept telling Shannon and Kelly that it was okay to go help other clients. I wanted to savor the experience so I was totally not bothered by the slight interruptions. Let me start by saying, I did find my dress here and I am very happy with my dress. The selection…read morewas decent and it was the first place we went. I am not the kind of person to try on 100 dresses before I choose one so the number of dresses they had worked well for me. Kelly, the owner, was very nice during the process of me trying to find a dress. She helped me in about out of the dresses and gave opinions. My biggest concern was, although I'm from mid Michigan originally, I currently live in Chicago. I work retail hours so I don't have a lot of time to go back and forth between Saginaw and Chicago before the wedding for fittings and alterations etc. Kelly said multiple times that she would do whatever it takes and work with my schedule to make sure that this dress would be able to work for me. After we put more than half of the money down on the dress (we were waiting for it to come in to pay the rest) her demeanor changed. She called repeatedly to get the remaining balance from my mother. She also left me multiple voicemails saying how she was getting worried I wouldn't be able to get fitted for it in time since my date was rapidly approaching. As a side note the dress fits perfectly, and all it needed was to have some layers removed so it wasn't so puffy. I called her and stated that I just started a new job but would have a weekend off to come get the dress hemmed. This is when she told me that the seamstress does not work weekends. Seems like that might be important info to share with an out of town bride before she makes her purchase... I explained to her that I don't have days available to come mid week and her response to me was "I don't know what to tell ya kiddo". As if patronizing me would be a good way to solve this problem. I made an appointment for Monday at 10am which she told me a few times was her doing me a favor since the seamstress wasn't in at that time. Except it wasn't a favor because it was not convenient to me in the slightest. I showed up at my 10am appointment time and took my dress to be hemmed elsewhere. She had said it would be about 200 dollars to hem it and I got it hemmed and bustled at a salon in Flint for an eighth of the price by a woman who was kind and understanding. Do yourself a favor, buy a dress from someone who will be nice to you after the sale. That's the true way to determine someone's customer service standards.
