The receptionist was sick, sneezing and coughing into her arm and not wearing a mask. Ironically, there were signs posted about wearing a mask if you are sick. She seemed irritated at having to do her job. She booked me a follow-up appointment and never gave me an appointment card for it, so I don't actually know when it is, despite asking. She rudely waved me away to 'help' the next person, and I never got the information clearly communicated to me. She waved me off and was engaged with the next person already. Because it was frustrating, chaotic and full of airborne germs in the office, I figured it would be better to call and find out. My mistake. Whenever I have tried calling to ask when my appointment is, the phone just rings and puts you on hold forever. No one picks up. The doctor was efficient and said my lungs and heart were strong and clear. Yet they required me to schedule a follow-up visit, for some reason. Anything else could have clearly been done in one appointment, especially since I was given such a good diagnosis of health. I think they're splitting one visit into two in order to bill double. I also think that might qualify for insurance fraud. I am planning on canceling my upcoming appointment, if the office will ever answer their phone.

My lovely spouse was referred to Richard Shusterman, MD, of The Institute for Respiratory and Sleep…read moreMedicine, due to a chronic cough and the fact that she had not had much medical care through her life as an immigrant from China. There just wasn't much medical information on her and some basic examination was required. Her appointment was with Dr. Shusterman, a Board Certified physician in Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Disorders & Internal Medicine. After the expected wait in the anteroom filing out papers, she was seen by him, an intern and nurse in a reasonable period of time. He was very pleasant and certainly knew his stuff; asking the right questions, listening to her lungs, immediately undertaking breathing tests and ordering chest x-rays. His staff was equally competent and pleasant. It is sometimes difficult to give English directions to a non-native speaker, and this was the case with her. The lab tech was very patient, and repeated the tests several times until she understood what he wanted her to do. Kudos to him. Turns out the diagnosis's was a simple case of post nasal drip onto her larynx causing irritation and resultant coughs. Prescription for an inhaler mist to reduce the drip should do the trick. She was very pleased with how she was treated and the results of all the attention. Turned out that she is really quite healthy. Always good to know.
