If the staff happen to read this, please know I genuinely appreciate how nice and professional you all are. The site we choose has full hookups and we've never had an issue. The campground has cable and WiFi if that's something important to you. They also do a really fun campground trick or treat during the Halloween season (call for dates) where all dress up, decorate their spots and hand out candy to the kids. The campground has plenty of shade which is nice. They also have a dog park with poop bags at the ready. They do have a store, but it is limited. Overall great experience and we will return.

Fowler's Campground was actually our first choice for our stay in the Shasta area because of the…read moreproximity to the McCloud River and Falls, but unfortunately all of their reservable and walk in sites were taken, so we drove about 6 miles away to test our luck at Cattle Camp instead. Luckily, we snagged the last remaining first-come-first-serve site (#27). Similar to other campgrounds, you pay at the front by putting your cash in the little envelopes. It's $15/ night here. The site has a picnic bench and a bear box as well as a fire pit. The site was pretty spacious and fairly clean. I also like that the sites aren't super close together so you feel like you have some breathing space from your neighbors. The potable water faucet was also a short walk away (next to the toilets). My only gripe is that the vault toilets weren't cleaned out daily. We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights and they weren't cleaned out at all. I'm assuming they probably empty them and replenish the toilet paper about once a week. Overall, not my favorite campsite of all time, but this is a good alternative if you can't find anything at Fowler's Campground. 3.75

I get policies and cancellation fees. but come on.. the reservation was more than a month away and canceled (attempted) the same day as noted on email. Horrible customer service. Once at the campground loop E sites #23 to #60 the road is a different story. Very narrow and there's 1 pretty hard corner, it's not impossible to make even in our 40 foot motorhome. But it's not for novice driver. We watched many rigs slow to a crawl and inch their way around it. PS - Bears do visit this campground!!!

The host was aware of rain for the evening and offered us a site that was a little more enclosed and protected from the storm. It also happened to be about 3 times larger than our original two sites (which was really nice for us). The water is definitely not great for kayaking but seems to be really nice for boating and such. There is a path that goes around the campground and through the campground next door. You can see views of the reservoir and lots of beautiful pine trees, etc. If you walk far enough you will end up at Maidu Beach which has a boat launch and a nice place to enter the water. Note: Once you book your site there will be instructions on how to get to Red Feather. Print the instructions and follow them. Do Not try to find the campground via your smart phone app, etc. you will get lost! The smart phone will tell you to turn right on Silver Tip Springs Road, INCORRECT. Other people traveling to the campground got lost this way too.

Unfortunately, the bugs were so bad that you had to swat away from the parking area all the way to the cabin - so we did not get to enjoy the river that afternoon. Then when we got unpacked, the place was not very clean in the areas you would expect: The base of the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while; they tried to staple down the vinyl flooring laid up against the bath cabinet; there was black all around the sink stopper; no blinds where there should have been for privacy; bottom 6-7 slats missing in the living area; no lamps for lighting to read in the living room; dishes and eating utensils did not look very clean; and some funky towel/curtain at the toilet which faces out towards the walkway for the other two cabins. And there was only one plugin heater so we were having to move it around from room to room when the temp dropped. They need at least two. I would not rent any cabin from this site after this experience. I give it only 2 stars because of the location. The owner needs to get their act together if they're going to be in the hospitality business

She loved it and learned all the fundamentals of horseback riding. The staff were exceptionally helpful and patient. The Gold Mountain trails are not for the skiddish riders tho! But soooo beautiful. I recommend the Graeagle rides for any newbies...you won't regret it! And the prices are very reasonable compared to the Bay Area.

The grounds are lush and well tended, the pool and hot tub sparkling with comfortable lounging. Rooms are comfortable and clean with individual patios. Ours led out to the pool area. They provide a free continental breakfast with the standard fare. There is also small gift/snack shop at registration. Owners are friendly and accommodating. We happened to book on Johnny Appleseed festival weekend which was just a short walk away. This an amazing town that has the spirit to literally rise from the ashes. Paradise Ridge Rising!

The owners keep the rooms and the grounds in immaculate condition. They are friendly, accommodating, and have created a little oasis up in Paradise. We lived up in Paradise, California for 21 years and had many times when we were holding events and had lots of relatives coming into town for a visit and needing a comfortable bed for the night. We heard nothing but rave reviews from all of them about the Ponderosa Gardens Motel. We needed a room one night and called up to book it. The front desk were very kind and the room rates reasonable. We loved the pool! It is clean and refreshing. The entire motel is appealing to the eye and you can tell that the owners have worked very hard to create such a meticulous motel. The fire up in Paradise, California in 2018 necessarily closed them down, but they worked very hard and made the motel even nice than it was before! Hard to believe they could outdo themselves, but they did and they are open for business again. Yippee! I'm going to be calling their reservation desk to make time this summer to get back up there and relax for a few days. It is quiet up in Paradise and it is such a lovely motel I've just got to get up there and check it out again. One more thing - Paradise is in the foothills above Chico, California, so if you're looking for a place to stay for an event in Chico, keep Ponderosa Gardens Motel in mind. It takes about 15 minutes to get from Paradise down to Chico, 20 minutes from Paradise to the Chico Butte College campus and 10-15 minutes to get to the main campus, 30 minutes to get from Paradise to the Chico State University.
