In town visiting the fam and we always try to find locally owned gems to hit when we're here and this one was one of the best. I wish we could have just sat and worked through their whole menu... we'll definitely be back next time to sample more. On this first go-round we had the meatball apps and boudain eggrolls. The meatballs were very tender and well seasoned. You only get theee per order but they are a nice size, not tiny. The eggrolls were delish and paired wonderfully with the mustard dipping sauce, but I thought they could use a boost of spice in the boudain - between the fried wrappers and the mustard, the nuanced flavors of the boudain itself gets a bit lost. Still excellent. For the beer we opted for No One Asked, which is described as a brown ale but drinks more like a porter and was a nice choice with all of the apps and pizza. We settled on the Meat Machine for a shareable pizza but I would have also loved to try the Gochu-Gang and the Herbed Ricotta, but they all sound creative and tasty... so many options, so little time! Alright, alright, alright...what a cool little brew and pizza! I was in town (Port Neches) with my beauty of a bride. I had been twitterpated (IYKYK...watch Bambi) back in 1997 in this area by a sassy little blonde. We were in town to visit her parents and were looking for something different to try to take them to get a bite to eat. They were so excited to try something new as the local Pizza Inn was their go to for pies (they are 82). Needless to say they loved it and we did too. Nice local spot everyone should try when you have a group of friends. Buckstins is seat yourself, the server will come to you, and take your order. We ordered two pizza because (one isn't enough) and one appetizer: - Pepperjack Mac Bites - Meaty Mashup Pizza (Well balanced pizza with just the right amount of meat and sweet kick) - Chicken Caprese Pizza (on the sweeter side, less chicken then we were hoping for, but still worth trying) - Strawberry Margarita (You definitely get your moneys worth when order a this one) The server was attentive and brought everything out. Buckstin is a favorite place of mine! It's a local place with amazing ambiance for either a drink after work or a fun date night. No need to dress up, it's a casual place with amazing locally brewed beer, and offers some amazing drink options, including waters and soft drinks for those who are not alcohol drinkers. The food options are vast and delicious. From salads, sandwiches, but my absolute favorite is the pizzas. They have a vast variety of favorites like the Sweet Heat or Meaty Mashup. They offer regular or cauliflower crust options. The options are nearly endless. We always enjoy coming here and have yet to have a bad experience. We HIGHLY recommend it. We were in Nederland and found ourselves hungry and thirsty. Found Buckstin on Yelp and was just we were looking for. Nicely laid out local brewery with a good variety of beer and food choices, primarily pizza and appetizers, which was perfect! My go to beer is a Hazy IPA and their's was as good as I've had in many other places. The pizza was much better than expected, given that it's not a pizza joint, with a thin crisp crust and quality toppings. There isn't a wait staff, per se, but 3 different people came to check on our table while we were there, so I say we were well cared for! Went here after a boil water notice was placed in Port Arthur and hearing good things from friends. I'm not a heavy drinker or frequent brewery visitor, but I really liked the atmosphere of the establishment. Although they were a bit short staffed on a Saturday night, the bartenders checked up on us frequently despite having other tables. I ordered the pineapple cider, supreme pizza (add pineapples), and a meat maniac pizza. For starters, the cider was very smooth and didn't leave any after taste. It was my favorite drink between the ones shared with my significant other. I was a big fan of the meat maniac pizza. Their hot honey has a very nice kick to it that paired with the toppings perfectly. The supreme pizza wasn't anything special. It was a pretty standard pizza that left me wanting the meat maniac more. Overall, I would visit here again if I'm in town. read more

It's great that locals invest in our area and their dream......and what a good one - craft beer and artisan pizzas. One look over the menu reveals bar food and a multitude of unusual crafted pie, we got a traditional crust "Hawaii Five-O" (mango habanero sauce, pineapple and Canadian bacon) paired with Lagers brewed on premise. This review is based on our first (and perhaps last) visit. We (wife and I) went for a late lunch/early supper on this Saturday and saw four tables - three with patrons and one empty, we walked in and seated ourselves at the empty one. Looking around we had the impression this was a bar that served pizza rather than a pizza place that served drinks - that was further re-enforced by the seating as we were at the only tables - the rest was at the bar or on stools in a bar-type configuration. We were greeted quickly by a waiter who had to get really close to be heard because music was being played really LOUD. Got our beers, while they were decent lagers, we tried to hold a conversation but quit when we really had to raise our voices to be heard over the LOUD music. Waiter came back to check in with us and I asked to get the pizza to go as we couldn't enjoy eating a meal with LOUD annoying music. Payed the check and brought the pizza home with us. So the pizza is on the smallish size, about what other pizzerias would call medium - for 17 bucks. The crust was on the thick side but the bottom was crunchy (the way we like it) with just a small amount of toppings. The spicy/sweet sauce was different and enjoyable but the heavy handed honey drizzle could have been left off as it definitely threw off the balance of the other flavors to the point of being sickly sweet. Overall nice try but not to our liking. So.... Originality - 9/10 (for SETX) Atmosphere - as a bar 9/10 LOUD modern music to keep patrons energized and drinking Atmosphere - as a pizzeria 2/10 LOUD music discourages a leisurely meal and conversation Food/drink - 6/10 (pizza didn't impress/beer was good) Value - 4/10 For those who want to eat at a bar setting this would be a fine place. addendum - as an old (60 something) rock 'n' roller I have no aversion to loud music...but...just when I *want* for it to be that way, certainly not when wanting to enjoy a relaxing drink and meal. read more
