This place is pretty good overall but today they charged me $26 for some of the sorriest catfish filets I've ever seen. You could read a newspaper through the fish! Plain and simple country-styled homecooked meal. Now, I LOVE country food, especially if it's homecooked and not processed. Meaning that, I never go buy it processed by some market of some kind. I only go to restaurants for it and I've always wanted to go try this place out so my bf took me for lunch. I ordered beef tips and pork roast for my bf. The most I can say about the food is that it was (ehh) appetizing. They sure don't skimp out your meal that you ordered, which is great but something about the taste of the meal wasn't worth the price that I had to pay for. It tasted really plain to me and nothing about both our meals was worth raving about. Maybe it was their off day or something, I don't know. As a matter of fact, we both agreed that the cornbread was the best part out of the meal. I don't know about you but I particularly don't like cornbread that much and for me to be saying that means a lot. But go try it out yourselves. The menu is not extensive; so it's not overwhelming. Drinks are 2.25 you get a pitcher of sweet tea!!! I like that they have tobasco and yellow pepper at each table. I ordered pot roast with cornbread, cabbage and rice wth gravy for $10.99. I'm a total fan of the roast and cabbage. Its well seasoned and tender. The rice not so much. I come from the Houston area for work about 1-2 times a month. This is always a stop for me. Some of the best Gumbo I have had and, the side dishes are always solid! Good decent home cooked style food served by really nice but busy people. I have eaten the entire menu at some point and it is all good. I don't even like meat loaf but I eat it here. Sometimes they run out of my favorite veggies but it is all good so it's not a big deal. They have good sweet tea and they will bring you a pitcher of it. It's only open for the noon meal so be warned. On your way out buy some of the Peanut Brittle made by the Apostolic Church. I am not Apostolic but they make really good peanut brittle.
