Not just a greasy spoon, though it is one in the best way possible, Bucky's is a fixture of the community. The unofficial town hall of Caddo Mills. The food is amazing, buttery, fried goodness, better than my grandmas, and the prices beat McDonald's. The best part, though, is the people. From the servers, to the cooks, to the guy who gives my kid a candy bar every time we come, Bucky's is small town perfection. Went to an event held at the Caddo Mills airport and asked where was a good place to eat around Caddo Mills and immediately a local told me, "Bucky's." A quick drive in to town and there it was - can't miss it. The graveled parking lot was packed which is always a good sign, but at almost 3 PM?! Impressive. My wife and I are always really leery about small town Texas eating places because a lot of them unfortunately still allow smoking in a back room. Being very sensitive to cigarette smoke I cannot and will not eat in a place that allows it. Bucky's didn't have a "no smoking" sign on the front door. Uh-oh. We walked in and "sniffed" without being noticeable. There was a slight hint of it, but I believed it was more of a "smokey grease" smell coming from the kitchen which is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door. We went ahead and sat down at the table next to the kitchen's door. The waitress was prompt and very friendly. She knew the menu very well. We began to warm up to what we were hoping would be a great find for us. We watched plates of food coming from the clean kitchen and every one of them looked delicious. I always judge a "family style" restaurant by its "chicken fried steak." And thank goodness Bucky's passed! My wife had the pork chops which she really liked and of which I finished off one of them. It was really good. The sides - fried okra, green beans with ham, and the mashed potatoes were really, really good. Yep, I broke my low carb diet, but so what. It was my personal reward for being exceptionally good all week. The highlight of the experience was meeting "Bucky" herself! A wonderful lady! She told us how her restaurant came to be which is an amazing and fun story. I won't tell it to you because you need to dine there and ask her yourself...you'll be in for a treat. The only two things I'd like to suggest is that Bucky pipe in some low level music and if there's a smoking room in the far back (which I suspect, but didn't see anyone doing it), please don't allow it anymore and put up a no-smoking sign on the front door. Other than that, we'll be back and I do highly recommend it to you because the food is really good. read more

Debating whether to give this place 3 or 4 stars. I have them 3 but it's still up in the air. Their sides were amazing and so was the customer service. What I had an issue with was the main entree. This place was fantastic. The burgers the my wife and I got were awesome. She got the Bucky and I got the Barnyard. My boys had a grilled cheese and a burger. We were all filled up for a $38 order. This small town cafe is great. I love everything I've had here. I've eaten here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tried almost everything on the menu. The Patty Melt and Chicken Fried Chicken are my favorites. The spicy pintos are awesome. Every vegetable side is from scratch, except for the fries which I wish were. The pies are awesome. I just discovered this place about two months ago. The first couple of times the food was very good and I thought they had the best burger around. I ordered the burger again and it wasn't cooked as well as the last visit and didn't think much about it. So my last visit they have a new computer system and I ordered the burger, then I remembered the last time it wasn't cooked as done as prior so I asked the waiter to ask the the cook to make the burger well done. We were sited right by the kitchen door and I overheard the waiter ask to make the burger well done and the cook replied that wasn't in the ticket, too bad! Waiter explained that I had asked after he sent the order. Of course I get it and the burger was red inside. I'm sure the cook did it on purpose. I didn't eat it and waiter asked if I wanted a to go box. I showed and said it wasn't done, all I got was an oh well guess you don't want that to go box. If your ready to pay I can take your card here. No apology, no offer to make right. Kinda ruined my high hopes for this place. read more

Tried for the first time ever . Had the large Chicken fried Steak wife got the small with loaded mashed taters and she got the spicy pintos First is all I have never seen my wife eat a whole cfs but this one she did and so did I . The steak was tender you could cut with a fork and the crust stayed crispy through the whole meal even covered in the cream gravy , the spicy pintos were so good that we asked for a second bowl . We left full and satisfied , I will be coming back to try the breakfast . It's worth the drive so you need to make the trip . read more

Stopped in for the burgers we had heard about, which lived up to what we had heard, delicious! Food would be a 4 star. But it was about 5 in the evening and was hot, and heavy food didn't go with the heat, could have done that grilling out at my house! Do you like greasy pork sandwiches served in dirty ashtrays with a side of green beans? Then step on in to Bucky's. They should rename it Smokey's. The non-smoking section is small and opens into the smoking section. The whole place reeks of stall cigarette smoke. The yellow ceiling tiles are nasty looking too. The fryer grease has probably never been changed. The food is greasy and nasty. I tried this place three times. I tried the chicken fired steak. It was someone's old shoe sole that had been breaded. I tried the burger and fries. It was actually good. Then I tried the chicken fried again. Know what? It was exactly the same as the first, probably cut from the same old shoe too. If you want explosive projectile things coming out of your body go to Bucky's. Smokers probably can't taste how bad it is. Did I mention this place smelled like smoke? I might come here by myself for some self-punishment, but it is definitely not a place to bring kids. Sadly I saw a few kids in the smoking section while the grandparents/parents puffed away. If you are having heart problems don't come here. The nearest hospital that can help you requires a helicopter ride. I would recommend this place to my worst enemy because he would end up dying of a heart attack compounded by high cholesterol complicated by diabetes while suffocating from emphysema and COPD. If you are a blue collar worker like those in a Bruce Springsteen song then Bucky's is your place. If that ain't you, best to steer clear of this greasy spoon diner. The Huddle House isn't far down the road which is much better. Most of the locals love Bucky's though. Suum cuique. read more
