Quick, warm, and filling meal! Everything was good especially the mango juice that was recommended by the guy taking my order!

I need everyone to eat here ASAP. This is some of the most flavorful and delicious food I have ever had. On top of that everyone I met there today was so lovely. They were very understanding of food allergies and made me feel safe to eat there. (Their arepas are made with cornmeal and are gluten free!!!) I'm excited to go back and try more of their menu!!

Venezuelan food in downtown JC? Absolutely! And it's delicious. A must visit. Don't let the location scare you away. I'm once you step inside you will feel like you are on an exotic vacation. Came after work on a week day with some coworkers. They took great care of all of us. I ordered my very first cachapa. Now it's my new favorite. Also got an order of their tostones (not on the menu by itself but they make them and sell them as an appetizer). Brought an empanada home for my hubby and he loved it. Good sized dining area inside with booths and tables. Pretty mural on one wall. Can't wait to come back. read more

First time trying Venezuelan food, and wow, what an impression! Everything was absolutely delicious and the customer service was a phenomenal. We were shown pictures of the dishes, given an explanation of what everything was, and it was an overall great experience. We had the Pabellon and the Sampler, so we tried a bit of everything, and I ordered the Soursop juice as well. First but definitely not last time at Budare :) read more

Our first time here and it was fantastic! We had the Christmas Dinner special and absolutely loved it. The service was great and the owner talked to us and showed us pictures of food ma they make and explained the different dishes since we had never been there before. This is now one of our favorite restaurants in Johnson City, TN. We will definitely be back! read more

You gotta hit me with the good stuff if I'm going to leave a yelp review. They did. Budare reminded me of my youth, but with much better cooking than my mom's. While I DO enjoy many of the restaurants in town, if you want authentic and tasty Latin cuisine (Venezuelan), you gotta come here. It was our first time, and David took care of us. Every recommendation he gave was on target, and every item that came out was amazing! He even gave us the secret menu item: the Medium Budare platter. I will order this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Bring an appetite. Sorry no pictures....i didn't want to wait to eat. read more

I took my mom and my sister who was visiting from Oregon, here, and it was an amazing experience. The owner and chef were warm welcoming to us and even checked to see if all the ingredients we wanted to order were fresh and available. The owner is more than accommodating on the food and the education of it, so don't be afraid to ask! 10/10 food, service, and ambiance! read more

Driving through Johnson City and stopped for lunch based on Yelp reviews. This place did not disappoint! The restaurant was very clean and inviting. The man who greeted us was extremely helpful. He showed us pictures of the food and gave us samples of the juice. The food was delicious! We shared the Papellon Arepa and Chicken Chacapa, which was plenty for two. Definitely try the house made hot sauce too. read more

This restaurant is a must try, in fact, I think it is quickly becoming a hidden gem in Johnson City. The food is beyond fantastic, the seasoning and all the flavors are so satisfying, I have tried everything there and there is nothing, I repeat nothing that isn't delicious. The natural juices are so fresh and flavorful. Great portions on top of that. The service is warm and inviting, very nice Venezuelan folks, they will take care of you, if you don't know much about Venezuelan food they will recommend something that it is guaranteed you will love. The space, the bathrooms and the restaurant location as well as the parking are great. You will not be disappointed with their accommodations, you will feel like you have traveled to an island in the Caribbean due to the entire environment and the happy disposition of the owners to serve you, I am sure you will become a regular patron of their business like me. Help them flourish so we can have fantastic Latin food in the area versus having to drive to Asheville or Knoxville to have access to something different and unforgettable. read more

I ordered the Pork Arepa and Yuka Fries. The food was delicious - fresh, very flavorful and well balanced. The staff was friendly and did not act annoyed at us for bringing kids along. They even came out and offered us a high chair. Even though the restaurant is small, they had ample outdoor seating as well. We enjoyed our lunch immensely! On the other hand, they served the coffee in an oversized ceramic mug, which added some character and quality. Overall, this was a reasonable place to stop for a quick breakfast on a road trip. Budare is that place.
