Friday June 2, 2023 8pm ish I wanted a burger from somewhere new so as I was looking at restaurants near me Buddy's popped up with a picture of the steak and cheese. It looked delicious! as I further looked at the pictures, the burger look good as well . I decided on the "brunch burger" with tater tot's. This burger came with cheese, bacon and egg. Although I ordered it to go, even after the 10 minute ride home I must say it was really good. I'll definitely go back, there are a few other items I'd like to try including the steak and cheese.

This place was great! I thought it would be a dive bar with typical food. Mostly true -- but the food was so good! I was there on a Friday night, and it wasn't too crowded or loud. The staff was friendly and you can tell the customers were regulars. My burger was nice and juicy, and I loved the fries you don't see crinkle cut often!

One of my favorite places in Richmond, I don't know where to start with how great it is. The overall atmosphere is excellent. There are always people there but not so many that you need to wait for a table or it takes forever to get a drink. They are always playing great music as well. The walls are coated by TVs. This makes it really easy to pretend to make eye contact with whoever you're with but actually looking past them to the TVs on the wall. The menu is everything you could ask for from a good American style bar. Wings, burgers, spinach and artichoke dip. The Wings are the biggest wings I have ever seen in my life. They have a great beer selection too that is both extensive and affordable. They constantly have activities ranging from trivia, to live music throughout the week, making it a fun place to visit. Their happy hour is great too. I would definitely recommend Buddy's

Great happy hour to hide away on those hot/ steamy Richmond afternoons. Good, beer, wine and well specials.

The cauliflower wings were HUGE and the whole table enjoyed them. My partner got the vegan artichoke ("GWARtichoke") burger with tofu ricotta and that was awesome too. Our friend got the tofu banh mi and enjoyed it as well. And there are several more vegan options we didn't get to try this time. Will definitely be back. The atmosphere is.. GWAR! Very neat. And they have a parking lot which is so convenient. Did not love the plastic silverware in little disposable packs. (For dining in, real metal utensils are much appreciated pleeeease). Service wasn't super friendly but maybe it's part of the GWAR schtick (they weren't mean at all, just not the most hospitable). We didn't mind anyway. The food came out fast and they got all our orders right. You order at the bar so it's not like you have a server anyway.

There was not enough lettuce to match the onions that they piled on. Also everything was in single use containers, they really could be better about using better dishes. Service: A dive bar, you order at the counter and they bring to your table. Mostly a QR code and difficult to track down a menu. Ambiance: A dive bar, again. The walls are covered in decor from Gwar and it was decently busy on an early Saturday evening. Loudish music, but the people were friendly. Would come for a drink if I am in the area, but skip the food.

My healthy husband ordered a black and blue salad with steak. He said it was the best salad he's ever had. That the combination of ingredients was amazing. I ordered a Sailor sandwich which is like a Ruben sandwich with knockwurst sausage and fries. It was a big portion, so I took half to go. The waiter was awesome, he was quick and the food was great, but the noise level was something that could irritate some. We decided we would try it again on a quieter afternoon and see if the noise is better.

A staff member who was seated nearby asked how my sandwich was, and I informed him of the issue. The bartender kindly refunded my meal, which I truly appreciated, especially since I did not request it. I want to emphasize that I hesitated to share this because the food is otherwise absolutely delicious. However, I feel it is important to bring this to your attention to help prevent similar situations for others. It was a very unpleasant and unsettling experience, and I would not want anyone else to encounter the same. The wings were advertised as double fried so I expected it to be more like a Bon Chon friend chicken wing, but it did not taste battered enough in my opinion. The flavor was still great and they were fresh. I was excited to try the Angry Squid, but the portion was a bit disappointing. The dish was full of flavor; however, it came with two pieces of shrimp and a handful of squid rings. Bulgogi ribeye bibimbap 4/5 - a bit on the saltier side but still had great flavor. I was happy with how fresh everything came out and the ambiance inside was nice. The server was attentive and the food came out quick. Probably wouldn't go back unless I was craving Korean and ran out of new places to try. Although we read they have a decent happy hour ( $1 dumplings ) so I'd definitely roll for that. ---- Food ---- House Bowl served in a clay pot filled with white rice, house-made kimchi, soybean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, and pickled onions. We got ours with bulgogi ribeye. The flavor was good but wish it came with an egg ( $2.50 extra ). ( 3/5 ) Angry Squid - Squid, shrimp, carrots, cabbage, green onions tossed in our sweet & spicy gochujang mix, served with rice. The portion was really small with only about 8 squid rings and 2 shrimp. The flavor was really good with decent spice. ( 4/5 ) Korean Chicken Wings Honey Gochu - These definitely weren't your traditional Korean chicken wings. The menu read they should be twice fried but they didn't end up having a full coat of batter. Having said that...they were still fine ( 3/5 ). ---- Service ---- Essentially one server also acting as hostess and bartender. She did a great job. Never waited for anything and was nice. ---- Ambiance ---- Quiet and only about 70% full. Well decorated, nice warm lighting.
