Came here for brunch after a long night of drinking. We sat outside at one of their very large picnic tables which had a nice breeze and view of the canal. We had our dog with us, and they had doggie bowls available which was nice. The service was great. The staff were attentive and friendly, and came to check on us often. The place is massive so great for groups. The brunch food was great and exactly what we needed after a long night. My party got the fried green tomatoes with pimento to start which was absolutely delicious. Between the four of us we got the brisket grilled cheese, fried chicken sandwich, fried chicken and gravy, and fried chicken cheese grits. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. The best was the brisket grilled cheese and the worst was the side of home fries for the biscuits. Swap those out for something else, they were bland and chalk dry. Would recommend if you're looking for something to sop up that hangover or a dog friendly place to bring Fido. read more

On a Friday night around 830pm, this was one of the only places open for food. The bar was prepping for a Friday-night crowd so there were no tables inside to sit at and the bar was full. We ordered some items from the "late night menu" and I will say, they were fresh for sure. We did find that tables were outside on a patio so we were able to sit and enjoy drinks and food. The shrimp basket was HOT and fresh which was great. The fry basket was massive and again, hot and fresh. I attended a private event here on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Our group had run over the entire second floor, which was quite a big space. The restaurant provided a variety of really lovely appetizers. We has shrimp (they were all big!), sliders, mini crab cakes, and pico de gallo. But the centerpiece was an enormous charcuterie board featuring an extensive selection of grilled vegetables, cheeses, olives, cornichons and cured meats. it was a delicious as it was beautiful. We also had a few things passed around on trays, including ahi tuna, which were all delicious. The staff was very accommodating and help make it a lovely event. This place surprised me! We loved their outdoor space - suitable for both us and our dog with plenty of space between tables and a modern pleasing aesthetic and awesome decor. Service was super friendly and food came out SO FAST. My partner absolutely loved the pork chop, especially considering the affordable pricetag associated with it considering the amount of foods that come with. The onion rings were wonderfully crispy - I enjoyed my salmon sandwich, but wish I was a bit more adventurous in what I ordered. What a great place!! Our server, Nick G., was really friendly, upbeat and seemed extremely knowledgeable of both the drink and food menus. We had the Brussels sprouts for starters and they were "to die for" good. Main course came out scorching hot (heat wise) and my wife couldn't have been more thrilled. She had the Quesabirria and I had the Brisket Grilled Cheese. Both were fantastic. We sat outside overlooking 14th St and the Canal Park...great setting. We came in on a Saturday afternoon as a party of 7. The service was poor. There was a delay in the food coming out. Two people on our party received their food after everyone was almost done eating and one persons food never came out. They did offer to package the food to go, but the lack of communication from the server was very disappointing. She did not communicate anything until we were just about ready to leave. Then she seemed upset that we had to address the issue with her (like we caused it). The place was not busy so I'm not sure why things were not out in a timely manner. We honestly did not let her explain because by then we were just ready to go. No sunday scaries here!! Stopped in because we wanted to be able to eat dinner with our dog and Southern Railway Taphouse was the perfect place! The patio is huge, fenced in, and has a turfed area near tables where dogs can feel comfortable rolling around. The waiter brought out a water bowl for our pup without us asking. I ordered the pork chop which was great with an even better price. I'm still thinking about the crispy brussel sprouts. I don't even know where to begin, but for the sake of anyone who values their safety, I feel morally obligated to warn others about what happened to me at this club. I was calmly walking out of a room that was left completely open to the public -- no signs, no ropes, no staff presence -- with a friend, when a group of bouncers started yelling at us like we'd broken into some VIP vault. We didn't argue. We complied and started walking toward the exit. Out of nowhere, I was violently grabbed from behind and choked. Not restrained. Choked. A huge man had his full arm around my neck, cutting off my air. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't see. I was disoriented and terrified. He held it tight, and I genuinely feared for my life. I don't know if it lasted five seconds or ten, but it was long enough to cause real pain and panic -- and all for standing in an open room? I have a thyroid condition, and afterward, the right side of my neck felt pinched and sore. It still flares up. That kind of pressure around my neck is dangerous, and the fact that it was done so recklessly makes it worse. And the police? They stood there doing nothing. Apparently, if you don't pass out on the floor, it doesn't count. I guess some people think assault is acceptable when it happens inside a club. It's not. I come from a family with legal and financial resources, and this is not being brushed under the rug. I've already spoken with counsel. Security footage will be requested, medical records are being documented, and formal complaints are underway. To the owners and management: you are 100% responsible for the actions of your staff. What happened to me wasn't just unprofessional -- it was violent and completely illegal. You're lucky I walked out of there at all. If you care about your safety, especially if you have any health conditions, do not step foot in this place. Ever. read more

Honestly I don't know what to think. When we went in I didn't even think it was open. There were two people at the bar looked like on a working bar trip. Laptops and notes. Bartender standing behind bar reading a book. Other than that. Completely empty. I figured on a Sunday afternoon when playoff football was on it would be crowded. Asked the bartender about the ciders on menu. Wife is GF. Her response "I don't know it's on the draft list" and walked off. Ok. No help there. Asked about a blonde ale. Again. We walked in after a canal tour, thinking that at least the place was convenient. It was so much more! The restaurant has a clean warehouse atmosphere, with a huge bar, and 40 beers on tap, plus all the expected beverages including quite a few nonalcoholic cocktails. According to signs, they have drink specials throughout the week. We were greeted immediately, and brought water as soon as we sat down. I would come here over and over just to try all the menu items that sounded delicious. I got the blackened chicken sandwich, which was perfectly moist, and seasoned just right. Every component was well thought out- from the schmear of goat cheese to the greens and grilled onions. Absolutely delicious. One companion had the grilled ham and pimento cheese with gorgeous crispy fries, another had the harvest turkey melt with perfectly crispy apples and a generous amount of turkey. Another friend had the tap house salad and added perfectly grilled and seasoned shrimp. Everyone was completely satisfied, although the burgers at the next table were really tempting, too. The side options were really varied, so I bat the roasted Brussels sprouts. Now, I like Brussels sprouts, but these were exceptional. Crispy but not burnt, properly seasoned, and topped with chopped peanuts and Parmesan and kissed with just enough hot honey to make them irresistible. I could have made a meal just from the sides. We don't live in Richmond, but it's absolutely worth the hour drive. There's street and lot parking available. read more

I frequent SRT for their good HH specials and their dog friendly patio. For HH, a lot of their beers are marked down to around $4, they have specific wines that are marked down as well, and they have half-off most of their appetizers. It's definitely the best happy hour downtown in my opinion. Service here is usually pretty good, but sometimes you can tell the servers are a little stressed from being understaffed.
