I hired Perfect Touch to furnish my new home. After I placed large nonrefundable deposits, the…read moreformer owner told me that she was selling the company but would be there to finish my project. Shortly thereafter she became unavailable and a variety of staff came through including Manuela the new owner. Here are some examples of what we endured. The first item to arrive was the bedspread and dust ruffle which cost about $3000. The bed skirt was short by 4 inches and there was a large gap at the edges. It took two visits to get them to finally come out measure the bed skirt determine it was indeed not fabricated to their specifications and fix the problem. They sent various people out to measure my husbands closet for built in drawers and shelves. Each person had a differnent idea about the appropriate dimensions and the plans were scrapped three times by Perfect Touch. It took nearly 4 months to get the small project completed and multiple visits that took my time. Note that I didn't change my mind. They just couldn't agree on how to do things. I ordered bedside chests which cost about $7000 total. I had a written estimate. When it was time for them to be delivered they told me that it would be $500 more than the written estimate. I paid it. They recommended that I change the finish of the hardware on the chests. I agreed to this. I asked them to match the metallic finish elsewhere in the room. Instead of coming out and checking the color themselves they sent me an iPhone photo of a metallic piece of hardware against a cardboard backdrop. They said they didn't have time to come out and check the color themselves. I ordered a custom rug for the guest room at their suggestion, I approved their recommendation of a size and paid the deposit, then two other people came out and measured and they began to argue about the correct size. Almost a month went by while they argued without placing an order for the rug. I ordered custom table linens for well over $1000. They had to be redone because they were sewn incorrectly and bunched unattractively. They ordered the wrong bench for the foyer and it needed to be returned and exchanged. Finally, I had been assured that my project would be completed including decorative accessories to make everything look finished and polished. But when it came time to accessorize they told me "we don't make much on accessories." I had spent between $80,000 and $100,000. I took the first few errors in stride but I obviously grew frustrated as these episodes continued. Throughout the process, I found Manuela very difficult and defensive. I hired them to help me, to save time and to achieve a professional look. The entire process was very stressful. In the end my home was not finished and polished as I had hoped and I needed to find another decorator to finish what was left of my project.

So I dealt mainly with the owner Andre who had recently taken the business over from his father. I could tell by his knowledge and how he answered my questions that he's been at it a long time and that made me feel incredibly comfortable. One thing that I want to point out was how incredibly difficult I made this deal on Andre due to the time restrictions I had put on him. I basically had no wiggle room whatsoever in a time when COVID has made shipping completely unpredictable. But unfortunately for him this was the last piece of the puzzle in a long drawn out project that I started and my family just needed it done in order to move on with our lives. The pressure I put on this man was easily enough for most to give up. But instead Andre absolutely bent over backwards to help us out. Even in saying that I think it's an understatement. On the day of install he actually shows up with carpet and helped the installers for hours just to get the project done. I honestly couldn't appreciate his service anymore. His father should be incredibly proud he has left his business in great hands. The carpet,pad and install are all top notch. The pandemic had set us back from our original plans to start the job in Spring of 2020. Lumber kept rising and building costs soared. Frustrated with waiting any longer and fearful that wood rot and bees would continue to plague us aging seniors (along with the Covid pandemic) we went in search of a quality reputable contractor. As seniors, we were fearful of being taken advantage of by con artists who prey on the elderly. We settled on Ed Ladouceur's Storm-Tite company, after many glowing word of mouth reviews, and after visiting a job site in progress nearby. From first contact it was a home run. Ed responds quickly to your calls. He will come to your home and assess your needs and work up an estimate in a timely manner. He's professional, friendly and not a high pressure salesman. He has a whole team of pros to attend to all the needs of your remodeling job. Storm-Tite also has a store front in Warwick where you can peruse different product lines in person, safely. He's got top-notch carpenters, siding installers, electricians, window installers, roofers---everything you need. Storm-Tite uses only the best products. We had a variety of siding styles and brands to choose from. Ed helped us save money and still achieve the curb appeal we desired by combining products when the cost of using the premium product for the entire job climbed out of reach. He shows up everyday on the job site to check in with the crew. I liked that we discussed underlying problems (rot) that were found and corrected them before the house wrap went on. You will not get a one man band. You are hiring an entire competent and friendly team to get the job done quickly. They supply port-a-John so workers are not traipsing through your house, and all debris is trucked away daily. The yard was left spotless. Every detail was worked out from what style window to the doorbells, lighting fixtures and hose bibs. The installation was done off season and workers showed up everyday rain or shine. To Charlie, Richard, Tawn, Steve and rest of the gang---thank you for your integrity, skill, and professionalism! We had complete vinyl (Norandek) siding in "Steel Blue" installed (with full Certenteed insulation wrap), matching blue steel awning over our air conditioner, 3 Harvey replacement windows, 2 custom built storm doors, all new rain gutters with leaf guards and downspouts, Invisiguard beaded soffits and all new vinyl-alloy trim in white. Our house is 34x26. The 10x10 shed was sided to match. Storm-Tite is not cheap, but remember: you get what you pay for. Do it right and you only have to do it ONCE! Worth every penny.
