But a sales lady showed me a magnolia tree where one side had been cut off. It looked strange, but I was assured it had only been damaged in transport and would fill out get new branches soon. They're the experts, so I bought it. A man, I assume was the owner, started yelling at the sales lady saying she left her walkie in the bathroom and he was trying to get ahold of her. She had other customers who wanted to buy more than a tree! He said this in front of me, like I didn't matter!! RUDE! By the end of spring one side of the tree still had no leaves or branches, the other side looked like a few branches had died. I called and they gave me the lady who sold me the tree. She said to cut the dead branches off and it would be fine. I did and a few weeks later more branches would snap off. I called again and was told I must have planted it too deep. I took photos for them, it was planted right, must be too much water, or not enough water, or the soil wasn't good enough. They wouldn't ever admit they sold me a sickly tree that they knew there was something wrong with it. Fast forward a few years, their news letter says if you have questions just ask. So I emailed asking questions about mulch, how to prevent weeds over winter and the best time to fertilize. Danny emailed back and said he would call. I have the Home & Garden's ID on my phone but never got a call from them. I called them a week later asking for Danny and said he was going to call me. A girl said he was with a customer, but she would give him the message and have him call me. It's now been two months since he said he would call and hasn't. So I think their communication is terrible, they don't seem to care if they sell their customers bad plants, a lot of their plants are cheaper at Home Depot or Lowes and they yell and humiliate their employees in front of customers like they should be grateful they even have jobs. No way could I ever recommended The Home & Garden center to anyone.

I contacted the customer service department several times and still have not received a response. I tried to solve the problem in store and was rudely told it was not anything they could do. Just wanted to express how poor the customer service online is.

I called again, was hung up on a second time. I even made sure ok two separate occasions that it was the correct phone number. My only criticism is the counter help. I recently wanted to make boxes to mount nutcrackers in for Christmas presents. While sitting in front of a competitor's store where I had found the nutcrackers, I called Horaney's to get their price. The lady put me on hold to check the price and told me they were $4.00 less than the competitor so, needing 4 of them, I drove the 7 miles or so to Horaney's. When I arrived, I found them to actually be $3.00 MORE than the competitor's price. When I asked about this, the lady said she never checked the price but rather guessed at it. Sadly, after almost 30 years of shopping here, I can find adequate seeds elsewhere.
