Reserved a car online last night to pick up at noon today. At 11:00 am I received a call with a ride guy telling me they have no cars. He called ONE hour before I was scheduled to pick up the car! AND, he was ride, said sorry and hung up on me! Does he think I am renting a car for fun? This is horrible and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this business! read more

Don't rent from this location or actually any Avis/Budget location. I also had a recent issue with the Avis at Tampa Airport. They provide reservations that they can't honor when you show up. They try to switch you to other cars, either a lower priced car without lowering your price you reserved, or a more expensive car, and they'll charge you the increase. Worse yet, they may not even have a car available at all and you're stuck with nothing. They don't care either, it's pretty obvious how they treat you. The local office referred me to talk to the company's customer service and they were horrible as well. There are better rental car companies, I've had a much better experience at Enterprise rental car. Avis/Budget company is not customer service oriented. Don't be fooled by their lower price when you shop on Expedia or elsewhere. Bait and switch at it's worse. Who owns this company now? It can't be the same. They are trash. read more

***Verbally abusive and condescending agent*** Following our encounter with the desk agent, I read other reviews for this location. It appears there is ample evidence to suggest that this agent's behavior is not isolated. Budget - please take action before this employee costs you a lawsuit. We have filed an official complaint with the Budget Customer Service team and went into very specific details with them. Bottom line: if you have the option of selecting a different rental car location, I recommend you do so. read more

Worst experience!!!! Do not deal with this location and its representative. We reserved through Expedia and arrived to pick up our rental which was confirmed. The representative which was the only guy working on 04/27/2025 at 11:00 AM was extremely rude and refused to resolve our issue. When I requested his name so I could call Budget to place a complain, he refused to provide and proceeded to be rude. We left this business and booked from a different rental company with no issues. Recommend the manag egg ment of this facility to either teach this representative how conduct customer service and due to his hard to understand accent, made things even worse!!!!!! read more

If I could give no stars I would! Got pictures to prove that they are just hiring anyone and they don't take care of the vehicles! The price was better than enterprise, so we decided to go with Budget....but the saying is true, you get what you pay for. I rented a Ford transit 15 passenger van and the size was great...but uh, when I went to pick it up, it wasn't washed and had a ridiculous amount of dents in it. The service person didn't inspect the vehicle. He just told me to take pictures just to prove I didn't do anything to the vehicle! The scariest part of this is, the freakin driver side tire had been punctured and had a slow leak! As soon as I drove off, the PSI gauge let me know. I didn't think it was a puncture so I just put air in it....but when I checked the tires, all 4 treads were completely worn!! The lucky and blessed side to this story is that the tire didn't go flat, but it was leaking. Check my pictures out to see my proof. Don't rent from here. read more

I was directed by Budget Car Rental's Customer Service line to drive from Manassas, Virginia to Fairfax, Virginia to swap out a vehicle. Though I was of age, had appropriate identification, already held a reservation and a Case ID number, was not intoxicated or impaired by drugs, upon arriving to Fairfax, the Budget Car Rental location housed in the Fair Oaks Mall - independently operated by Habtom Kidane/ HK & H, LLC, attempted to refuse me service because I am an African American woman. read more

Terrible business practices! I've rented from budget many times before and never had to pay a deposit. Rented a car on October 3 to get a preop Covid test. Unbeknownst to me, budget charge my bank account $250 as a whole deposit. I was not informed of this and I signed no such agreement. As a senior citizen living on Social Security, high count on every dollar, especially after having major surgery, when I realized that my account has been debited $250 I called budget customer service. They assured me they hadn't deducted the money, it was merely a whole would be credited back to my account in 5 to 10 business days. This is day seven and I have NO money and Budget is AWOL. I honestly don't know how I'm going to eat, I don't have ANY money! Apparently Budget changed it's hold policy on 10/1 just three days before I picked up the car. It feels deceptive to me. I should have been advised of this new policy. You would think budget would have some decency in their little corporate heart to refund a disabled senior citizen her grocery money! I reserved a car a week in advance for 12pm pick up. I called at 8 and gave the rep my name. He indicated that the car is ready. I went to pick it up, it wasn't there. He made an honest mistake, He told me that he will call when car arrives. I called at 12; at 1 and 2. The car still wasn't there and he hung up on me staying he will call me. He never did. I had to call Customer Service and picked up the car 15 miles out at higher price. This place is great to rent from only when the company actually delivered what they committed. Very unreliable. Habtom (the manager of this location) is fantastic and very friendly! We were supposed to returned the car to another budget rental location about 11 miles away. After finding out this location was much closer to us, we called and were told that we could return the car here. Habtom also helped us waive the $45 relocation fee. He saved us a lot time and money. Very efficient and friendly service! The temporary kiosk is kind of hard to find as their office is currently under renovation. We recommend to call their number listed on google before going in. read more

This review is just about the return experience. I rented a car at Union Station in DC and returned it at Fair Oaks Mall (at Sears) in VA. The first part of my review is available if you search for Budget Car Rental in Washington DC at 50 Mass Ave (Union Station location). When I picked up the car, they had given it to me with 6/8th of a tank and that was noted on the contract. Here's my return experience: I drove the car with no issue and returned it 3 hours early at the Fair Oaks, VA location as it was a one-way rental. Upon returning the car, the agent there processed the paperwork & gave me my receipt. He acknowledged the 6/8th gas level (as I did fill up the gas I used and returned at 6/8). After walking away & reviewing the receipt, I was surprised to find that there was a charge for $13.99 for driving less than 75 miles. I returned to the counter and asked about the charge. A manager came and told me that the charge was there because I had driven less than 75 miles and that's policy. I advised him that the policy (as written on the board behind him) was applicable when the car wasn't returned with gas and that I had returned the gas. He went out to look at the car and came back and said that I had returned it and that he'd credit me back the $13.99. He then told me that it looks like I had damaged the car and that there was a scratch on the back bumper. I called him out on this and advised him that that damage was there and was recorded. Luckily, I saved the pink sheet and he seemed annoyed that I had the damage report and begrudgingly said okay. The funny thing is that the car was so poorly cleaned that the previous renter's pink sheet (and contract) was still in the car and the previous driver's pink sheet had about 10 more damage marks than I had noted. Basically, one guy there wasn't shady (he was a really friendly agent - who said he was from Yemen when we were making small talk while the manager looked at the car). But the manager who 1) tried to rip me off and 2) tried to blame me for damages (that were BS damages as they were already on the car and he said it was a "scratch" - the damage that I had noted was several scratches & a license plate hanging by 1 screw) seemed super shady and I would never rent from these guys intentionally. If you do, make sure you note that there's damages everywhere because they'll try to screw you on it and take a video of the car on your phone. read more

If I could give this car rental location a zero I would. It is practically impossible to find. Their information is not listed anywhere in the directory throughout the entire Mall. When you call the location you get redirected to their national line which sends you right back to the mall. After attempting over five times to get through to them, I finally get a hold of the man who continuously refuses to tell me where he's located. His only concern was whether I was picking up or dropping off. when I told him that I was in the mall looking for their location, he continued asking are you dropping off or picking up. I finally had to ask him not to ask me that question anymore. Horrible horrible location and service. read more

Rented the car in JFK and dropped off at Faifax and they charged me $145 for 20 mins. Read the rental agreement very careful, I called the JFK location and the manager Shil was an A$$. He was not helpful at all. read more

We've rented from this location at least 3 times in the past year (once given a free upgrade!) and each time was hassle free and without issue. Prices were competitive and the agents were always friendly & efficient. Each time we came to pick-up our vehicle, they were ready for us and clean. Also, we declined purchasing their insurance (since I had my own) and it was not problem, billing or otherwise. Note that this Budget branch is INSIDE the Sears. The mall that it's connected to is a large complex with plenty of parking and convenient via bus (several buses stop here). All in all a good experience which we will surely look to do again in the future. read more
