This FRANCHISE (yes, franchise--this is not owned by Budget) is a scam. We've rented from them about 6 or 7 times in the past year, and we always have problems. Slow service, dirty cars, cars not available when we get there that we reserved, and most recently, CHARGES ON OUR CREDIT CARD FOR SERVICES WE DID NOT REQUEST. This happened the past two times we rented there. First time, I returned the car on FULL, and they still charged me for a fill-up. How do you fill up a FULL tank? They told me it was a required charge since we didn't drive more than 50 miles? What? First of all, we drove to Chicago and back. About 700 miles. They wrote the mileage down wrong. Luckily, I called corporate and they reversed the charge. Last time, about 2 weeks ago, it was worse. First off, they didn't have the class of car we reserved. The car they gave us was one level up. Fine. What they didn't tell us, is that they CHARGED us for the upgrade, AND charged us for the daily insurance which we NEVER accept since our credit card covers any damages. So, we ended up getting charged $151 for a $71 rental. AND, we reserved online and paid the $71 up front. They didn't refund the $71 when they charged us the $151 for the upgrade. We called them and they gave us the same story--we can't fix it, you have to call corporate. Bullcrap. So, called corporate again. They were able to refund the original $71, and an additional $30 for the upgrade that we should not have been charged for. They said there's no way they can refund the insurance we paid though---it shows we accepted at time of rental, so we must have accidentally hit the wrong button. BUT, that was probably because it took over an HOUR to get our car. We just wanted to get out of there. So, they ended up getting $50 more out of us for nothing. We'll never go there again. I suggest you go elsewhere also. Mistakes happen, but when things are charged to your card that you didn't authorize, TWICE in row, that's a pattern. They are hoping people don't notice, and don't look at their credit card statement. I'm sure this is a daily occurrence for them. read more
