I won't name the complex, because I am really upset at the decline of the quality of living there over the past 11 months- but basically I asked a bunch of companies to get me estimates for moving on Friday night, and I ended up going with Tote because they sent out an estimator right away, and also the price was reasonable. Luke reached out to me Friday night, and we texted about getting someone over quickly. First thing Monday morning he was in my apartment, COVID aware and safely estimating the cost of my move. They were not the cheapest, but from the professionalism and thoroughness of walking through my entire place- his estimate wasn't that far off from the final bill. Monday I chose to move, they came today. Two days. This morning Tyson and Dexter called me on their way to my apartment to give me a heads up. We walked through the apartment and the clock started around 9:40. Within 2.5 hours they packed up my entire place and loaded it. I had many items already packed and they did an amazing job getting it out of the apartment so quickly and professionally. Literally world class workers. Zak called me and wanted to check in on how things were going. We discussed insurance options, and I let him know I was very pleased with the team they sent out. I moved about 13 miles. On the way here I bought lunch, and we provided drinks as a courtesy since these guys were CRUSHING it today. They were done about 30 minutes after the 5 hour estimate- but that's not a big deal in my book. All in all- they moved a 3 bedroom apartment in 5.5 hours. The unloading was also Championship level because there are three levels in the house and they were accommodating to the places we needed items moved. My parents had several boxes from their move. The movers gladly offered to take them out of the garage and also the boxes of packing paper. It was tremendous, the extra effort they made to make sure we were happy. I can't thank Dexter and Tyson enough. I was VERY happy that my family was happy. I want to give a special thank you to John Magruder, who is the head of operations there. I had one item damaged, and he resolved it about 5 minutes ago personally to my satisfaction. It's 10 PM, and he answered my texts (I was expecting to talk tomorrow, but he was going on vacation and wanted to get this resolved ASAP). Sincerely, a great person to offer to talk tonight and get this completely resolved so he can enjoy his vacation and I can move on with my unpacking and settling in. AWESOME person. Tote handles local and national moving. I am going to recommend this company HIGHLY to anyone that needs a hand with their move. Support small business owners! Let me preface that I hate giving poor reviews to small businesses...I understand that reviews can…read morebe much more important to them than they are to large chains... that being said, moving is typically a high anxiety enterprise and you need to know as much info about who you choose to move with as you can. I also feel that all actions have consequences, some good, some bad...this is the latter. I recently had an out of state move with a full pack that I had set up with Tote Moving & Delivery months prior. I called in frequently to make sure everything was on schedule and was always told by the owner that it was. They called to inform two days prior to the move that they were going to outright cancel the move as they had 2 employees out sick and one other who had a family member pass. I understand that things happen and I can be sympathetic but to have no backup prepared for an out of state move and/or to not even offer to move the date back was unacceptable and put me in a terrible, stressful bind. This ended up costing me thousands of dollars extra to procure a last minute mover. I was also not pleased that I had spoken to the owner all throughout the process but when it came time to give me bad news, that job was given to another of his employees. I asked the owner to contact me and he told me he was too busy covering for the workers that were out. My total move was to be over $8000 and that did not even warrant a personal call back in the owner's eyes? *I will say they did offer to have another company that they had a relationship with try and assist me but when I read reviews of the other company, they were flat out scary. They were rated extremely poorly and many reviews mentioned fraud and theft, so I did not consider using them. That did not even seem like a viable solution based on what my research came back with. If you use Tote, perhaps you will have a better experience...but just know that the potential for the whole thing to fall apart is there, it happened to me.

I hired this company to clean our carpets as part of a move-out. Before scheduling, my wife gave…read moreGeorge a very specific description of what needed to be cleaned: 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, 2 hallways, 2 small walk-in closets, and one flight of stairs. George repeated that exact list back to her in writing and quoted $249 total. I have the texts. They show up and suddenly the price is $450. Their explanation was that George had quoted us for 5 "areas," while the technician said we actually had 8. Here's the problem: we never told George we had 5 areas. We told him exactly what rooms and spaces needed cleaning. If their company has its own way of counting "areas," that's something their employee determined when he gave us the quote. They also told me a quote can change once they see the house. Of course it can. I'm not arguing that $249 could never change by a dollar. But $249 to $450 is an 81% increase. That's not a small adjustment. I was even willing to meet them halfway. I offered $325, more than 30% above their written quote, because I understood that maybe the house was larger than George expected. They rejected it. Then things got ridiculous. The technician threatened to call the police and accuse me of theft over the disputed amount. He went even further and explained to me what that supposedly meant: if I were later pulled over, I could go to jail. Keep in mind, I wasn't refusing to pay them. I was offering $325 on a job they quoted at $249. What makes the whole thing worse is that they knew this was a move-out cleaning. When a company shows up during a move and suddenly tells you the job is going to cost almost twice what you were quoted, you're stuck. Your carpets need to be cleaned, you're on a deadline, and finding somebody else at the last minute may not be realistic. That's exactly why this experience felt so predatory to me. If square footage matters enough to turn a $249 quote into a $450 bill, ask for the square footage before quoting the job. Ask how much of the house is carpeted. Ask for measurements or pictures. They didn't. They asked what rooms needed cleaning, my wife answered accurately, and George responded with "$249 total." Maybe George simply gave us a bad quote. Mistakes happen. But if your employee makes an estimating mistake, own it and work something out with the customer. Don't show up to a move-out job, increase the price by 81%, reject a customer's offer to pay 30% more than the original quote, and then start threatening them with arrest when they dispute the bill. I would never use this company again. If you're considering them, especially for a move-out cleaning where you're working against a deadline, get everything in writing and ask exactly what can cause their quoted total to change once they're standing in your house.
