Very very very bad customer service. Like the Soup N*zi in Seinfeld…read more The worst part is there are reviews below of the same guy Karim Hamrouni treating other customers horribly from two years ago, acting like he is the only car rental place in a small town in Algeria or Pakistan so he has power over customers and can treat them like garbage. He's still there. I don't see how I could trust Enterprise again. I got a Mercedes with a bad shimmy from the location near the airport, for a long-term insurance rental. When I got home, I called, they said they didn't have any cars they could give me, but I could exchange it at any location of Enterprise. I spoke with the Enterprise location nearest me, 1717 Berri, and explained I would like to exchange for a RAV-4, and they agreed. But when I arrived, the clerk told me that the "manager had decided" (against company rules) that they don't do exchanges, I would have to go back to the location that rented me the car, out at the airport. I reluctantly agreed, and left with the Mercedes with the shimmy. Calling the airport location, I'm informed they have no equivalent cars they could give me. Then I realized I could simply return the one with the shimmy and close that contract, then rent another car. I have up to $5000 to spend on any kind of transport while my car is being repaired. So I called back the 1717 Berri location, explained the above to a guy on the phone, who turned out to be the manager who behind the scenes had refused against company rules to exchange the car earlier. He kept getting the story wrong, saying I had already exchanged the car and now I want to exchange again? Even though he was the one who refused the exchange earlier. I said I'd be there at noon. He said he was busy then and asked me to come at 1:30 so he could have the time to "help me". When I got there, he was being passive-agressive, pretending to not be able to find my reservation, and saying "at the end of the day, we are trying to help you". Which he clearly was not so far. Walking towards the elevator to the car pickup area in the basement, he starts saying, so the car didn't have a shimmy when you got it, you've had it for a month and now you're saying you didn't cause the problem? Why did you wait a month? I had already discussed the situation with him at least four times: I had the Mercedes with the shimmy for one day. It is defective. I want to exchange for a RAV-4. So now he is making up false statements: the Mercedes didn't have a shimmy when I got it, and that I had had it for a month, saying again he was just trying to help me, when clearly he was not. At this point I am getting a bit annoyed and said, look, now you're making up false statements that are detrimental to me. I don't want to talk about this to you anymore, I just want to return the car and rent a new one. The guy snapped. He refused to get in the elevator, thrusting the Mercedes keys back at me, saying "I'll teach you how to talk to people". Take your keys back and leave. I'm not taking it back, and not renting you another one. Go away or I'll call security. I said to him, "I apologize". He snapped back, "There is no apology for that. I will teach you how to talk to people". I followed him back to the counter, and said, I think it's pretty clear I should deal with someone else. He said, "No, I am the manager, there is no one else, and I have decided. I am not taking your return and not renting you a car. Get away from my desk area, this is private property, do you want me to call security?". Then he said: and I don't care how you get out of the parking garage with your car. I'm not giving you a pass, you'll have to figure that out. I'll teach you how to talk to people! It turns out if you don't have a pass to get out, you have to pay the lost ticket rate, i.e. $22.50 daily parking rate or whatever it was. This guy is spitefully saying he knew he was causing me this problem. I went back down to the garage and the Mercedes with the shimmy and saw the key drop-off return box for Enterprise, so I took many pictures of the Mercedes inside and out, put the keys in the drop box with the gas and mileage and took a taxi home. The worst customer service I've experienced this millennium. Looking at other reviews, this guy has been pulling his Little Hitler power-trip act, treating customers like garbage to show he is superior to them, and causing serious problems with people's travel plans for over two years. But I would not choose to do business with Enterprise again knowing that Enterprise has been tolerating this guy treating customers like garbage and himself like a king who has total power, and he's still there. What kind of company would let that happen? P.S. Enterprise asked me to email them contact info and reservation numbers so they could address the issue, so I did... and they never replied. Low-quality operation all around. Not recommended.

Once they acknowledge you go buy a cafe and a croissant as your car won't be ready and when you ask "is it ready" they will say "yes it is" but you can't go see it yet because they want it to be a surprise like Christmas morning. Do all Enterprise locations hate their customers? I don't know but I'm looking forward to being insulted, ignored, gaslit, and generally insulted in more because there are no other rental car companies. Oh, wait, there are! And I'll use them.

I took delivery of the car as scheduled , on July 23rd 2024 my stay in LA changed and I wanted to return and drop the car at Burbank Airport which is 30 miles from LAX , a half an hour drive but it was more convenient for me since my flight was very early on Friday July 26th. To my surprise, when I drove it to the return office at Burbank Airport I was advised that not only I will not be refunded for the days I am returning the days before schedule but I need to pay drop off fee of $ 300.00 plus penalty and taxes , approx $ 460.00 . Obviously I objected and try to contest but was told by the manager of the facility at Burbank that this what the computer is telling them to charge my card. I took the car back to the hotel and I called the +800 number and after waiting 55 mns listening to music , I was told the same thing. I find this to be close to extorsion and steeling, robbing of clients and need to be reported .

Ok, time to amend this review. Some things certainly stand: good cars, good location, friendly…read morestaff, good rates. Yes. But there's been something going haywire at Thrifty recently, and it's left a sour taste in my mouth. They've been understaffed consistently, sometimes the overworked staff is late (sucks if you have an 8am reservation and somewhere to be, doesn't it?), and they're constantly running back and forth between the garage and the rental desk, leaving the customers hanging. Most recently, I went in for a rental and noticed an extra $75 "pre-paid gas" charge on my total. I was told, "Thrifty is having a promotion, where the gas rate is really cheap. You don't have to fill up your tank, and you'll get $1.29/liter." The guy (Robin) didn't explain further than that, although I was skeptical and wanted more explanation. He answered, "Listen, I've got 50 more people coming in today. If they're all as worried as you it's going to take forever." Um, yes. Sorry, but you'll probably have to deal with 50 more people who smell a rat. That's what you get for automatically switching people's contracts without giving them a chance to decline. After signing the contract, I had second thoughts and wanted him to change it, but he'd already dashed off to the basement garage to read the odometer and gas gauge on someone else's car, and I was eager to get going on my trip, so I left. Turns out (as I sort of suspected), this gas deal only works if you bring your tank back on fumes, as they'll charge you for the whole tank if it's not full. So, I got the pleasure of running back out in the morning rainy rush hour to top up my tank before the car was late. Pffft. (BTW, there's an ESSO at St. Laurent and Sherbrooke, another at Papineau/Ontario, and a few other gas stations at Maisonneuve Est near Jacques-Cartier, if you find yourself downtown and need to tank up.) Dude, next time I say I want to decline the fuel option, you take the contract and you fix it to reflect the options I have requested, not what you think I might like. Doing otherwise is totes sketch. I'll still come here for cheap cars, but with less enthusiasm than before, for sure.

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Montreal (Outremont…read morelocation - 5403 Boul. St-Laurent). I rented a Toyota Camry in August 2025, booked through Costco, with a planned return later that day at the Ottawa Airport branch. During pickup, I did a detailed walkaround and pointed out several areas of concern. The staff member seemed rushed and repeatedly said that "any damage under an inch would not be considered." The issues I noted were acknowledged and marked as known damage at pickup. I drove the vehicle directly from Montreal to Ottawa (a 2-hour trip with no incidents), stopping only briefly for gas. When I returned the car at the Ottawa Airport location that afternoon, the representative confirmed that several damages were already listed as "known," but then pointed out two small dents -- one on the roof and another near the windshield frame -- that I had not noticed. I took photos immediately, as advised. Two weeks later, I received an invoice from Enterprise claiming I had damaged the right front fender -- something that was never mentioned at drop-off. This completely contradicts what was observed and recorded by their own staff at the time of return. Given the short rental period (6 hours), the direct route, and the inconsistent information provided, I believe this damage claim is unfair and possibly misattributed. I've rented from Enterprise many times before, but this experience has seriously shaken my confidence in how fairly they handle post-rental inspections and claims. I strongly urge others to take detailed photos and videos at pickup and drop-off -- even if staff seem dismissive -- to protect yourself from questionable charges.
