I recently had a very disappointing experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Montreal (Outremont location - 5403 Boul. St-Laurent). I rented a Toyota Camry in August 2025, booked through Costco, with a planned return later that day at the Ottawa Airport branch. During pickup, I did a detailed walkaround and pointed out several areas of concern. The staff member seemed rushed and repeatedly said that "any damage under an inch would not be considered." The issues I noted were acknowledged and marked as known damage at pickup. I drove the vehicle directly from Montreal to Ottawa (a 2-hour trip with no incidents), stopping only briefly for gas. When I returned the car at the Ottawa Airport location that afternoon, the representative confirmed that several damages were already listed as "known," but then pointed out two small dents -- one on the roof and another near the windshield frame -- that I had not noticed. I took photos immediately, as advised. Two weeks later, I received an invoice from Enterprise claiming I had damaged the right front fender -- something that was never mentioned at drop-off. This completely contradicts what was observed and recorded by their own staff at the time of return. Given the short rental period (6 hours), the direct route, and the inconsistent information provided, I believe this damage claim is unfair and possibly misattributed. I've rented from Enterprise many times before, but this experience has seriously shaken my confidence in how fairly they handle post-rental inspections and claims. I strongly urge others to take detailed photos and videos at pickup and drop-off -- even if staff seem dismissive -- to protect yourself from questionable charges. read more

The employees at this location went absolutely above and beyond for my partner and I. Our car (personal vehicle) was stolen while we were visiting Montreal for the weekend. We are from the states and had absolutely no way of getting home. Even though the location was booked, the employees there worked out a way to let us rent a car and go back home, going completely out of their way to get us a comfortable dependable car. I cried. For our trip to Florida this year, we decided to rent a SUV. So we went with Enterprise in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, on Pierre-Caisse street. We brought the SUV back on Monday morning around 8h30am only to realize the next day (Tuesday around 11) that I had forgotten my 2 sunglasses in the glove box (2 expensive pair of sunglasses). I spoke with the reception to find out the car has been sold and already left the site. She proposed to call the Enterprise people who was driving the car back. When they called me back, I was informed that there was no sunglasses in the glove box and was told that maybe I had taken them. So not only did the Enterprise employee stole my 2 pairs of sunglasses, I was also told I had them. For me that's enough to never deal with Enterprise again. Dishonest people work there. read more

Trying to get a rental car while my car is in the shop. The insurance company gave me a confirmation number, and Enterprise has been useless in getting a rental. Have called them over a dozen times without an answer. Finally got a hold of them and they have sent me on a wild goose chase looking for different things from different branches. Everytime I call it takes at least 7 or 8 calls to get a hold of somebody. Unacceptable service. Will avoiod avoidenterprise at all times in the future. Do not recommend to anybody. read more

The most awful and the scariest experience that I had in my life!! They provided me a car which had had an accident before and damaged already. I believe they never even checked if the car is safe and secure to drive again. But the scariest part started when during the drive the car just switched off- like the car was not receiving energy! I completely lost control of the car no gas neither brakes were working! As I was approaching the intersection, my car luckily stopped due to the car in front me stopping as the light switched to red. The car in front of me took almost no damage, as I was thankfully at a speed of 20-25km/hr. Then I had to call towing service, because I was not able to start the car! No power at all!!! After all this horrible experience to apology was provided to me , they had contacted and got refunded from my insurance without my authorization!!! Someone should take the responsibility for the life and security of their customers!! read more

We arrived about 10 minutes before they opened on a Saturday, and there was already a line of about half a dozen people. It took a LONG time for us to finally finish up with the desk and head up to our car. My major complaint is that my dad called ahead of time TWICE to ask for a car seat for my son. At the desk they told him they don't have any at this location. When we got to the garage, the lady again said they do not have any car seats, only the location at the airport had them. She suggested we drive to the airport to pick on up. EXCUSE ME? First, we were told you'd have them. Second, despite being told the wrong thing, you tell us to drive to the airport to pick one up? They should have offered to have one dropped off at our hotel. Such an inconvenience. Also, the way the find the car you get is by running up and down the garage, pressing the car's alarm to find it. The car isn't waiting and ready for you like at other car rental companies and locations. read more

Definitly the worse customer service I ever had renting a car... I usually rent at the branch in the bus terminal on Berry and never had those problems. We spent 45 mn trying to reach Guy street to be able to drive the car to the branch because of heavy construction in the area and nobody told us at the check in. Before 2014, the previous reviews were about right about this location. This year, I used the enterprise car rental twice from this location and I was pleasantly surprised that they expanded their weekend hours (it used to be 9-12 on the Saturdays and closed on Sundays). They now open longer hours on Saturdays and a shorter hours on Sundays. This is improvement #1. The cars are now located upstair and the office is also moved upstair. This is improvement #2. The staffs are very friendly and explain the operation of the cars to me. This is improvement #3. Today, you get the car with a full tank of gas and you have to return the car with full tank of gas. This is improvement #4. These are great improvements. Unfortunately (or fortunately - if you are the manager of the branch), there is still a lineup on Saturday mornings. That's why I rated this location 4 stars and I will visit here again. read more

Always think about enterprise rent-a-car like a second tier (or third?) operations. My experience at this location was not different. First, I don't like the policy of "fill the gas to the level it was". Now you rent a car and have no real experience with gas level indicator. You get it from them at say 5/8 of a tank. You are about to return it when your level is 3/8. How much should you put to bring to 5/8? You have to fill it by small shot doing trial and errors until you are at the right level? You fill it too low and hit you with a penalty? You put too much in and you loose the extra money you've put? I like the policy of take it full/bring it full much better, easier to execute for the client! Also, the first car we got had an engine/transmission issue that made it annoying to drive, we had to bring it back to change it. To their credit, the service was nice and they did pick us up and drop us off and they made to fuzz about changing the car, yet this is the kind of issues that I had too many times with enterprise. read more

Worst place to rent a Car. Specially with their incompetent Italian so called Branch manager Daniel Corusi. First of all this individual (Daniel Corsi) he feels he is working for the trump towers. With a low paying job.making 20 dollars an hour if he is lucky to get that. He treats people with no respect, 0 proffesionalism, and no manners. I always rented cars there before, everyone there was so friendly,and nice to talk to. Until I had a deplorable encounter with that former call centre worker. before enterprise he could not keep a job more than 2 years. Well no wonder why! His attitude is deplorable disgusting and low IQ power. How can you have a Masters in business administration and your answer is I don't know how Banks work. Wow no wonder why he has a teenager job. And probably his degree is collecting dust. And read this review before thinking renting a car there. As a business owner if I had an employee acting like that and being arrogant with my customers he would be out the door the same day. Stay way from renting cars at this location. And someone make a change at this branch by getting him fire from that job. And for sure I am going to make a complaint with customer protection. To prevent people from getting the same treatment and fiasco that I went through. After giving so much money away and putting all this money in the owners pocket, in car rentals, this is the last thing I deserve from this company. I had THE WORST experience a enterprise, if I could give negative stars, I would. I have used this rental service before and have had no problems but this last time was just terrible customer service. I reserved a mini van (that seats 7 people) online about a week before the rental date and then on the day I was supposed to get the car they call to say they don't have the car I reserved and that if I wanted to fit 7 people I'd have to get 2 cars (which they were willing to give me for the same price). So I went out of my way to get another person from my party to come to the rental service, and he had to change his schedule to accommodate, and then we get there and they have a car that seats 7. But, it is a very very squishy fit, not at all like a minivan would be. We could barely fit all our stuff and people into the car. But thats not that big a deal, that's fine. What is warranting this terrible review is that the man I got the car from told me that if I bring the car back after hours and take a photo to prove I brought it in within my 48 hour reservation (because the store closed at 2pm but I technically get the car until 4:30) then I won't get charged for a whole extra day that I didnt even have the car for. So I had the car until 4:30 on Sunday but because I didn't bring it back during open hours I got charged for all of monday too, which I didn't use and which the employee said wouldn't happen. But of course I did get charged for an extra day I didn't even use and when I try to call to sort things out I either get put on hold or I get a person that says "oh ill check things out and call you back" and then never get a call back. That happened twice!! Basically, me and my party of 6 people are NEVER using enterprise ever again. We all had to pay for an extra day that we didn't use because one of their employees said we wouldn't get charged when we did and because nobody would help when I called. We shouldn't be the ones paying, it should be the employee paying for giving us false information. read more

I have been a member for many years and renting cars every month from them due to my work situation. I reach my gold membership every year (minus the Covid situation). It does happen for once that I forget my driving license once and the worker at Montreal airport, Audrey Leroux, refuses to rent me a car. Despite the fact that I am a loyal member with a VALID driving license, she refused to do so. I explained to her that even with a physical driving license, it doesn't mean it is valid. This is why on the contract agreement between client and enterprise, there is a clause to initial to confirm your driving license is valid. This situation causes me a HUGE problem creating a financial disbursement that was out of proportion. No one, especially good active loyal members should be turned around as Mrs. Leroux did. Enterprise is not the cheapest rental company and I thought bee a loyal member would have some impact. I get a better deal with my air Canada membership when buying an airplane ticket and car rental combination. It also allows me to accumulate better rewards than Enterprise. To be loyal at Enterprise doesn't worth it when you stand outside without a car. Very Frustrating. read more

WTF... they advertise a price and slap on extra for this shit plus for registration plus for some kind of insurance for loss of key...what BS! why dont they advertise clean? this is a scam in all Its splendor... oh and what choice do we have, didnt we read the 40page contract before we rented the car? read more

Professional, competent and helpful staff. They didn't have a car in my class, but Marcus gave me the choice of any SUV they had, which was fine. I dropped the car off at the airport when I was done, with no surprises, and again, professional, competent staff. I felt comfortable dealing with them and would not hesitate to use them again in the future. The only gripe is that the tank was not full, as mentioned in previous posts. This is the only enterprise location I've used that did not fill the tank first. (They don't pick up on Saturdays, but it was a short taxi ride from the hotel). read more

There was a lady who left when she realized that they had a problem, letting the other worker there all alone. He admitted that he "forgot" to tell us that they did not have a car for us, when they definitely had our email address... I normally rent from Avis or Budget, but an Expedia search for a week-long rental showed that this location had the cheapest rate for a compact SUV. So I decided to give it a try, even though it's a bit out of my way. HUGE mistake. My reservation, made on Expedia 5 days prior, was for 4 pm. I failed to check when the actual location closed, and when I got to the store at 4:05 pm, found out that this location closes at 4 pm. The door was still open and there were customers inside, so I entered, said I had a reservation, and was promptly told by Man #1 that they closed at 4 pm, and that they couldn't help me. I have worked in customer service, and never in my 33 years or in any other situation where people have a reservation or appointment has service been denied, especially not for a 5 minute late arrival. There were two guys working, and the other guy, Man #2, who was with a client, also told me that they closed at 4 pm and that they couldn't help, that I should have checked the time for their location before arriving. He then told me that, actually, it was okay, not to worry, he would look after me, so I waited. In the mean time, the first guy was walking around, talking on his cell phone to a friend based on the conversation, texting, and otherwise being evidently non-productive. I waited while Man #2 served yet another customer, who was returning their car a day early. During their conversation, he told them that they should keep the car, and went on to explain that it was actually better for HIM if they kept the car because "better to have a car on the road than in their lot". As a customer, I could care less what is better for the company or the owner - call me selfish, but as the consumer, it should always be about me. Then it was my turn, at 4:32 pm, when my reservation was at 4 pm, and I had already been scolded for being 5 minutes late. I had reserved a compact SUV, they only had a Dodge Journey, which is on the larger end of SUVs. Then I mentioned we were driving to Toronto, to which Man #2 replied that I would need to call his colleague in the morning when we were leaving Montreal, as outside of Quebec, there is a limit of 200 km. When I reserved, there was unlimited kilometres, which I mentioned, but Man #2 said that only applied within Quebec. It was at that point that I told him to forget it, I would rent from somewhere else, and reached over the counter and took back my credit card. I then asked for my driver's license back, which he still had. Instead, Man #2 told me to hold on, that he wanted to complete the sale, and that he would call his manager to see if they could do anything. After being denied service in the first place, and then having a bait-and-switch pulled on me in the second, I said no, I didn't want them to do anything, I wanted my driver's license back. After asking for the fourth time, he finally gave it back, and then argued that he had tried to do his best for me, even though I had showed up 5 minutes late after they were closed. In my opinion, "his best" needs to be a bit higher on the customer service scale. As another reviewer noted on November 29th, 2014, this location has awful customer service, and I will never rent from Enterprise again, especially not from this location. If it was possible to give zero stars, it would still be too many for this location. read more
