I'm begging you not to hire this company. If you are black, IM PLEADING WITH YOU TO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I must be a glutton for punishment because when I used them in April 2020, they sent me two of the laziest convicts they could find. These men were slow and argued with me about EVERYTHING!!! They refused to pick up anything heavy (that's your job sir!!!), they took a lot of smoke breaks which ate up my time and what should have been a $350 move ended up being $680!!!!! I paid the unfair price because I just wanted them out of my damn house. Fast forward to last Tuesday, June 2021. It's too much to type so I'll just list all the BS: -they were late -the base amount was $330 and they told me that's because they charge more in the Summer!! -They sent 4 guys when my job only required 2 -They Complained THE ENTIRE MOVE!!! -They stood around talking instead of moving -They left 5 boxes at the old place and they were very important boxes because they had my small business stuff in them -They refused to put the boxes in the rooms they belonged to so now I have all these heavy boxes piled up in my living room -The supervisor came into my house and threw a pair of socks that became loose in the house -The workers kept calling and harassing me to hire them on the side to get the stuff they left at the old place!!! They even tried to charge me $300!!!!! -THEY WERE RACIST AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE FACT THAT IM A BLACK WOMAN AND I WAS THERE ALONE I will be reporting this SCAM moving company to the BBB. Let's just say you get what you pay for... When they had to twice reschedule our visit for a moving quote, I should have stopped right then and there. The man who came out to provide the quote - his name was Blue - was very charismatic and talked about how Budget contracts out his company for the actual move, how he teaches young men to make a living doing this kind of work, and how he raised 13 children. He also reinforced our (biased) expectations that our move would only take a very limited amount of time since the amount of furniture was limited. (His hourly quote was half of others we received, but the only one made from actually seeing our furniture in person.) So, we scheduled our move. Here's how it turned out: 1) We were given a 1 hour timeframe for the movers to arrive; and right at the end of that time, I received a call saying they would be late because one of their moves yesterday wasn't completed and they needed to wait for a leasing office to open at 9am. If they knew this yesterday, why wait to tell me at the last minute? 2) When the crew finally arrived, the lead mover did an assessment of the furniture and right off the bat said it would take twice as long as what we were quoted. (!!!) I felt like it was a bait and switch situation. 3) I called the office and was basically referred to Blue to work it out. (So the company Budget Movers really has no involvement other than playing the middleman, just an FYI.) He assured me they would get it done in time and if they go over by an hour, he wouldn't charge me for me. 4) Fast forward 3.5 hours, and the guys are still disassembling furniture and loading it on the truck. There's dents and scrapes in the drywall. 5) Fast forward another 2.5 hours and all the furniture has finally been unloaded and "set-up" in my new home. The lead mover had to call Blue to confirm an hour would be comp'd since it was never communicated and I ended up paying for 2 hours more than anticipated. 6) I didn't have a chance to walk and assess all the furniture before they wrapped up and left, but they were sloppy. There are massive deep scratches in a number of our wood furniture pieces, there's a cut in the fabric of one of our couches, a few assembled pieces needed to be screwed together again by my husband. Overall, the movers were very nice and didn't outwardly show their frustration with the situation, which I appreciate. But I would caution anyone using this company if they have furniture that isn't just ikea pieces. read more

This review dates back to July 2015 but as I am considering another move in the near future, I started doing my homework and came across negative reviews about Budget Movers from 2016 and 2017 so I felt the need to add my thoughts. The absolute worst experience of our lives, scratched most of my new wood dining room and bedroom furniture because they refuse to wrap unless you are willing to pay double. Never heard of the no wrapping option and of course when getting the online estimate, they fail to share that small fact. If the price sounds too good to be true, IT IS. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If they quote $900, you should probably be paying at least $1500. Do not be cheap if you value your home and personal belongings. read more

This is the 2nd time I've used Budget Movers. The first time was in 2015 when I was moving out of a townhome and putting my belongings in storage. They were fast, affordable & excellent then so I knew that when I was moving into my condo that I was going to use them again. I used the online quote feature which was a little difficult only because I had to try & remember everything that I had in my storage unit. After I put in the online quote request, they called to confirm. At that time I requested to add another stop and it only increased my quote $50. Fast forward to this past Saturday- moving day. They arrived approximately 5-10 minutes after the time I was quoted, which was fine for me since I was running late anyway. My storage unit was very messy and they helped me move things out of the way to get to the items that I needed to be moved. The 3 movers were very professional & courteous and handled my belongings with great care. If I move again, I will definitely use them again! read more

Upon arrival a crew of 3 appeared one of them being a man that did not look physically capable of working, this one was the boss, after we had our walk through the boss had just sat in the truck leaving the two workers to do a full house, I was told there would be 4 workers and there was only two men working, and while a couple pieces of furniture were damaged the most disturbing offense was the medication that was stolen from my medicine cabinet. Professional. On time. Efficient. Artie and his men were a bit earlier than expected, but waited until the set time to move our stuff. They treated all our furniture with care during the move-no scratches or dents. The move was quick with a total load and unload time of about two hours. Other reviewers stated that they tried to increase the price for number of steps or stairs. This is how Budget Movers charges, and it is a standard across moving companies. Also, as with any move, you need to be prepared and organized for a smooth transition. Some patrons are excessive in their expectations of the moving company. Finksburg location review: Extremely flexible and courteous. Extremely affordable too. I'm pregnant and my mom is elderly. We had 3 very nice men execute our move. We had a move planned thinking an elevator would be available to us and of course the morning of the move the elevator breaks down. Blue and his crew were so flexible with pushing our move back later in the day to see if maintenance could get it fixed, when they didn't Budget Movers offered a small price increase to accommodate the stair alternative. Ultimately we got my elderly mother moved in 5 hours and it was still very affordable. I will recommend these guys for any future moves. read more

The men were very professional and quick to complete my move in a timely fashion. They also met my quoted price which I appreciated. Upon arriving they advised of estimated time it'd take to get packed up. They took great care of my items and insuring everything was wrapped. They arrived at the drop off location quick. They put down plastic so floor wouldn't get dirty. They brought three people which was nice! They did use an Enterprise truck just in case your looking for a logo based truck. read more

I got scammed! I had a one bedroom apartment moved and traveled 30 miles for $800. For example I told the movers that they will have to take the door off in order to remove my sofa from the apartment. Of course they measured and try to prove me wrong. After a hour of trying to get it out of my apartment the eventually had to take the door off and proceed to take the sofa out. When my final bill came they hit me with all this extra up selling items that was not in the plan. I told the mover you wasted a lot of my time and money because I informed you how to take certain items out of the apartment by removing the door. They said they will not unload my stuff of the truck unless I pay $800. I was shocked because the original quote was for $400 and I can accept that $400 price because I didn't have a lot of stuff just boxes a sofa and mattress. The movers never broke a sweat. When I tell you the were MILKING IT that is a understatement. I almost forgot to add this in. The movers left my house 1/2 hour earlier than I did and I got to the destination 13 minutes before them. They must have taken a lunch break on my dime. In conclusion, I never been raped, but I felt like a rape victim. read more

Everyone was so great from beginning to end. I originally scheduled for one day, but needed it changed, and that wasn't a problem. My arrival window was between 9 and 10 and they showed up right at 9am. I didn't have a lot of furniture to move, but they had everything loaded within 30 minutes. Once we arrived at my new house, they had no problem putting everything right where I wanted it, and they even made sure to wipe their feet before walking inside. Payment was handled efficiently, and their were no hidden or surprise charges. I am very happy with the service I received from Budget Movers and would highly recommend them. read more

These people are a joke! I wish i could score below 1 star! I hired them to move me into my new home. I used them for 4 hours and we weren't done yet so i said i needed them to keep working. The guys said my time had stopped even though they only (at this time) had worked 3 hours...i said i needed more time and was willing to pay company. They offered to use my truck and i pay them cash. I agreed and paid them the BUSINESS QUOTED RATE! I then get called by a Mr Lee Moricle literally cussing me out screaming at me! I was completely confused and he accused me of stealing from the company! I hung up on him and received a text calling me a whore! I have attached it below! Then i had placed a call to the owner Chris, who called me back accusing me of stealing from him and cussing me out! Needless to say I completely lost my temper! I was referred to this company. They were super cost effective. But I guess you get what you pay for. They also took extra items that were not on the inventory which I appreciated. Now for the bad stuff: The laborers complained about how heavy the furniture was. Is that not your job to move heavy stuff? The crew chief/ driver tore up a part of my lawn at my new house and refused to give a discount for the damage. It started raining when they were moving but they did not wrap my stuff to prevent it from getting wet. they promised to put together all furniture they took apart but they did not put together my love seat. They just dropped it in the basement. Finally, the 2 guys said they could not get my box spring up the stairs because of the dimensions. But I was able to do it by myself. I got a splitting headache after all that effort that they were supposed to do. I am thankful for the low cost. But I will never use them again. read more

Worst moving experience ever!!! I hired this company based off their 5 star ratings online to move several large items while I was out of the country on business. The service I received was no where near 5 star. When I returned home from my trip, all but 1 of the items I requested to have moved was severely damaged. The foot board to my queen size sleigh bed was cracked in 3 different places, with chunks of broken pieces left behind. My mother was present in my absence. She heard the mover say "Just tell her it fell...that's what I did last time." When she repeated the statement to the movers, they were silent. In addition to the bed, my couch has two LARGE tears and 4 puncture holes underneath the cushions and a puncture hole in one of the cushions. The love seat was scratched & scraped in multiple areas (material is completely gone). Also, there were 3 holes in my wall matching the shape of the legs of the couch. And they left the pillows to the couch at the previous location. My mother had to drive to the location and take the pillows to my new home. Lastly, there was a long scratch on my dining room table. I'm single with no children, so my furniture has always been well taken care of. When I spoke to a manager, he stated that he took off the max, which was $75 for the damage to my bed (as she caught them in the lie that the board just accidentally fell). I emphatically stated that I needed a full refund, but the manager refused to do so. The company does not stand by the statement on their website where they treat your items as if it were their own. I will never recommend this company to anyone - not even my worst enemy. I'm only giving this company a 1 star because 0 was not an option. read more

I used this company for move from Baltimore City to Essex in 2016. I used them again in 2017 for a move in Essex to literally 3 blks away. Both time wonderful, could not have asked for a better experience. 2020 a move that was greater in distance but not with furniture. The movers arrived and let me know that I was being charged an itemized move. Like who would do that. I rather pay by the hour as I had stated to the person when getting the quote, "I've used you guys twice before, and I want to to do the same thing." Once they arrive, I was not home but my husband was and stated they complained as soon as they arrived. I came home and told them they were gonna move my s**t, as this is the same s**t yall move here. It was 4 guys, the never wrapped my furniture, they had no tools to disassemble or re assemble, my husband and I helped lift and carry stuff. The kept telling me if the boss had stayed he would've charged for this and that. I said Oh well Thank God he left cause I wasn't paying no more than the quote as we had to assist. One smelled liked soiled his clothing. They played explicit music while unloading and we moved to very upscale area. I emailed them directly and all they could address was that they moved things I wasn't charged for. Again, I am not a complainer and my previous experience was exceptional. DO NOT USE. UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, AND INFLEXIBLE. I had used Budget movers in 2017 for a sizable move (including IKEA furniture which is difficult to take apart and put back together) and 2 movers were able to move and put back together all of my furniture in under 2 hours without a single complaint or knick on my furniture. However, I used this moving company again with half the amount of furniture (still some ikea) and had an extremely different experience. The second the movers arrived they began complaining about walking up and down flights of stairs, demanding that they needed an extra man, and started increasing my initial quote (which was also recorded incorrectly!). I was initially confused and then graciously accepted the new quote, trusting their "professional" opinion. They continued to complain to the point where I began to feel extremely uncomfortable. I did not see them use a single piece of professional moving equipment (dolly, hand truck, straps, etc.), and as a result my moving boxes were opening in places they should not be, almost every single piece of furniture has a knick or a dent on it, and the walls of my old and new home had scuff marks and indentations. As all 3 of the movers and an extra man that was driving the truck sat there (TOTAL OF FOUR "PROFESSIONAL" MOVERS) and tried to put my bed back together I heard one of them say "Bring in the A team" along with other grumbles and wines ( while I thought this all makes sense now). Of note, I am a 23 year old professional woman and they were using expletives and other inappropriate language in front of me. The move took almost double the amount of time than the previous one (2 hours vs ~4 hours). Once they finally moved in all of my belongings, there were still pieces of furniture that needed to be put together, and for the sake the hourly cost not going up anymore I gave them a more than generous cash tip ($200) and told them to leave. Hoping the tip and the relief from not having to assemble any more furniture would aid in decreasing my price/receiving a discount or at least an apology- to no avail. I just got off the phone with the manager, Lee, to make a formal complaint and he was extremely rude and dismissed every statement I said with "well that was mentioned in the paperwork notes."I wonder if my tip and chips and gatorade I bought each of the men was mentioned in the notes.... bottomline- I would never recommend this company to anyone. They were unprofessional, rude, loud, EXPENSIVE, and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. read more

By no means is Budget to be confused with United, American, or Bekins, but for the money they are a very good option. I was quoted a reasonable price for what was to be moved, they said they would be here between 8-9 am and arrived 8:35am, loaded quickly and arrived destination promptly ..... could not get a large sofa into the front door but managed to get it up to the second floor balcony into the apartment. Was totally satisfied with the move as well as friendliness of the men sent to do the move. read more
