YOU BETTER BUDGET MUCH MORE The owner is real slick. Upon inquiring about a move, Nick McDonald comes off friendly and continuously says he has the best prices. His original guesstimate based on real numbers provided by me: about 10 items like couch, queen bed, bureau, coffee table, 2 bar stools, a small desk, coffee table, rug and 12-14 boxes. Then I emailed and said 2 couches because my daughter was given one for her new place. Nick's guesstimate was $245. ( see attached) I thought jeez that's not alot so no problem with an extra 10% weekend fee. Nick was very aware, per our discussion, about long hallway and walk to loading zone at first apartment. Loading zone and easy access at new apartment with reserved elevator. It took Kennedy and Jonathan over 3 hrs to load items onto truck. They had to do probably 6 more trips to load due to only having a dolly each. No flatbed. Kennedy and Jonathan moved mattress and heavy couch on a dolly. I was surprised an experienced and allegedly best moving company per pompous and rude owner, Nick, didn't provide a single flat bed. I would not have used this company if I knew owner provided only 2 dollys. It's unrealistic to move apartments and homes without flatbeds. The longer it takes benefits Nick 's bottom line. One flatbed could have moved 12 boxes with one trip. The dolly handled 4 boxes and increased the number of trips. Flatbed could have moved everything else in 2 trips. Instead of loading 10+ boxes on a flatbed these guys could only load 4 on each dolly making numerous trips. I've never seen a mattress being moved on a dolly. Pretty difficult to balance it moving down hallways. So the move became over 800.00, 3+ hrs to load at first site and 2 at new apt. (see attached) Nick also didn't send contract prior to move. He had the mover bring it and do the unpleasant job of informing you that you must sign understanding that if Budget Moving damages any items you will be paid a whopping 30 cents per pound - I stand corrected from pre edit, However, per lb is worse than per dollar. So your antique lamp worth $1000 gets damaged. 30 cents per lb is about $1.80. A contract presented at the time of moving when you've made plans is putting the customer "under the gun" so to speak. I consider this in legalese, "signing a contract under duress."When I asked Nick about the 3% merchant charge that he never mentioned, I couldn't get a word in, he was beyond defensive and was probably the rudest person I've ever experienced. A know it all, braggart and beyond rude. I told him he did not mention this charge and if I'd known, I would have brought cash, so i'm not paying it. He kept rambling about his 5 star reviews and his experience. Blah, blah, blah. Well, his overall rating is 3 on most review sites. With all his experience and business acumen, one would assume he could provide you with a close guesstimate instead of your cost being nearly 3x his "quote." Reminds me of the old bait and switch tactic. He then rambled on that he has top reviews and I responded, " Not anymore." Nick responded, "I doubt your negative review will affect my business. " I responded. "We'll see." This is an honest and factual review. See attached his guesstimate with so many caveats; it can rise or fall depending on traffic, weight of boxes, number of items, distance moving to load truck. Then see final charges. The only positive was that our movers were excellent. Kennedy and Jonathon were professional, friendly, polite and very hard working. Not sure how they can work for anyone as unprofessional and rude as Nick. Thank you Kennedy and Jonathan. You were a pleasure. Initial contact was great. The day of we had a scheduled window and they didn't show and were unresponsive until the window had closed and they apologized and showed up late. One of the guys was hardworking and great but the "boss" was complaining about the weight of our boxes and damaged our mid century dresser and only said "oops" no apology and no discount. These guys were efficient and respectful. They showed up when they said they would. They worked fast and with a purpose. They don't come out and look at the move like other companies do. They said it helps them keep their rates low. I. did spend some time on the phone explaining my furniture to the estimator. But it wasn't too inconvenient and the estimate came within about $50 of the final cost. read more

We had such a wonderful experience with this company. We originally got an estimate from another local mover for an absurd amount of money. We called budget movers and got a great rate and it was booked within days. We had two greats guys. Brian was the main guy on the job and he was awesome. They moved everything in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It was carefully removed and put into our new home and was safe. The rates are great, the guys were great and they were very efficient! We used Budget Movers for our recent move. The guys were very nice but I am now realizing that 90% of our furniture is scratched and our couch has a giant rip in it. No padding of any kind was used that I saw. We asked that they move all the big items and add as many boxes as there was room for in one truck load. They left many large items at the old house such a bed frames for all the beds and a few other large furniture pieces. So when we went to go and put our beds together after moving all day we figured out we were missing bed frames for all the beds. Also we had to pay an additional service for the other large items to be moved to the new house. I would not recommend. read more

I'll start this post by saying, I move ALOT - Think 16 times in the last 10 years. This move happened unexpectedly with a death in the family and they got me in within two days of calling first thing in the morning and showed up in their window schedules. These guys were so efficient, so personable and serious Tetris artists. I was moving with a trailer that fits everything so long as stacked to the ceiling and just in the right way. Do yourself a favor and request Brice and Austin for your next move. I hired them to load a 16 foot truck. I was a little worried about the cost since you don't pay in advance (except a booking fee). You pay for their drive time and moving time so i was worried it would cost more money than expected. The exact opposite happened. The guys were fast and efficient and loaded my U-Haul like a perfect game of Tetris. They thought about how to pack the items securely and smartly. They made sure to protect all my items with moving blankets and whatever else I had for them to use. I have a HEAVY couch and they carried it up the stairs without touching a wall. They swiftly loaded the truck... it was by far the best $ I spent during my move. I've moved many times and I was truly impressed. After having a horrible experience unloading it even highlighted how great these 2 were at their job. They communicated well and are experienced. If I needed moving services again I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these two. They were worth every penny. read more

I can't even begin to tell you how awesome Budget Movers was. First off, the scheduling/phone dude - Tim - was about as helpful as could be when my Mom's cross-country move got messed up. I needed to change dates of the final move last minute, and they were incredibly accommodating. Then, the day of the actual move, I was lucky enough to get Colby, Armand, and Jack as my movers. These three men were efficient, worked their asses off, were lighthearted when I was stressed, and were simply a joy to work with. On top of that, I had let Tim know that we are a high risk household, and masks would be required. No problem. They wore their masks (properly even!) all day. Moving sucks. Moving during a pandemic is utter crap. This move has been one of the most stressful events of my life (as every move is) and Budget Movers helped to make it as easy as possible. Multiple moving locations and numerous items. Even at the end when my wife wanted a few items moved from the garage in, they were still willing to do it. Hired two movers for a move and entire time felt like I was a burden to the two workers who showed up to do the job. One worker kept making comments about how many boxes and how many trips he had to make back and forth from the building to the truck. At one point he was cursing about the weather(it began pouring rain) which is out of our control. It was very unprofessional how they reacted when asked to reassemble the furniture responded with "well that's going to take about another hour" in an almost annoyed tone. A lot of my furniture ended up scuffed or chipped and I watched as my boxes sometimes got thrown around(glad nothing glass broke). I was making sure all of my belongings were inside the apartment and my husband finds my infant daughters clothing and hamper thrown out on the hallway floor in front of a neighbors door. I will never be using these movers again and I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

The three guys showed up on time and were very courteous and helpful in helping me plan the best way to load the truck to save money to quickly unload the truck in the desired fashion advisory and destinations. The only really nice piece of furniture we own got broken; see pic on my profile page. It is an expensive credenza/sideboard which I had spent a lot of time shopping for. It was purchased in July of 2014; $599 and it was in beautiful, perfect condition. The price on this item has been over $1,100 if I tried to order it today. My husband told the movers to be careful with it since it was our favorite thing in the house. He was busy and by the time he got back to the living room, the credenza was out of the house and some piece of it was on the living room floor. The leg is ripped off the bottom and the wood on the bottom of this piece is very damaged. They claimed it got broken in the truck on the way, but since the piece was found in the living room it sounds like they tried to drag it and the leg broke right off. $40 was the compensation for this damage; pretty awful. These guys were wonderful and got all of our things moved across town in half the time we expected them to and somehow managed to work magic and fit it all into one truck which was super impressive. They were very responsive and answered all questions we had for them and I would recommend them to anyone looking to move quickly and on a budget. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because a couple of our smaller furniture pieces did end up broken, but I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars instead of 4 because none of the damages were irreparable so I feel like 4 star review is just a little too low but 5 is just a little too high. read more

Budget Movers did a terrible job making this customer happy...quite the opposite! In my absence, my son was present when they moved a bedroom set I purchased from someone.. He reported to me they were very unprofessional with the move. Due to the furniture being very heavy, they took drawers out of the dressers and put them back in once moved. I received a call that they were unable to get one drawer put back in...no explanation, no apologies, no offer to get it repaired. In order to get the drawer back in, I had to hire someone to fix the drawer.!!!! read more

First I want to say the guys that moved us were incredibly nice. Our frustration was entirely the travel time they "claimed" to have spent. They said it took 45 minutes to get to our house from a location that should have taken about 15-20 minutes. The explanation when questioned was "stoplights and we drove around trying to decide if we could come down the alley for pickup". Our couch was broken in the move, as well as a footer to our new dresser, which we wish would have been mentioned to us. We had a broken railing as well from one of the movers pulling on the stair spindles, but they were very apologetic and offered to pay out of pocket for it (but why this couldn't have been deducted from our moving expenses would have been the appropriate thing to do, rather than making their hired contractor offer to pay). We also were told if we paid in a personal check they would not charge a 3% processing fee on the phone, whereas when they arrived we were told only cash waives the processing fee. That and the 25 minutes they spent walking around our house deciding where to start moving things, and going over the contract that should have just been emailed to me to review ahead of time rather than paying them $112 an hour to review paperwork with me. Last time we used firefighters on the move, should have used them again as they moved more quickly, and didn't add so much fluff to their hourly rate at the site. The cost would have been less overall because of the OVER 1.5 hours in travel we paid for the homes that were 20 minutes apart in drive time, plus the 30 minutes of "talking" they did prior to the move actually beginning. read more

Worst ever! Had 3 dressers and 3 kids beds moved from our house then a few items moved from a storage unit (all within 5 miles of each other). And it cost over $700. My husband had to bring a drill (for the paid movers who were specifically told we were moving beds) to take the beds apart (the only reason I hired movers). I actually put the 3rd bed together myself and put all the mirrors on the dressers because they left the one guy to finish... Your reply is a joke. The complex beds may have been easier if the guys brought tools. As they stated once WE brought them correct tools, "this will go a lot faster now". NFM put them together in 20 minutes and I actually put together the 3rd myself. I took apart the kitchen table legs and brought downstairs, it was a cheap/old drawing table with chairs. I put the mirrors back on 2 dressers. Your general manager did nothing when he was there. As stated above, my husband had to supervise the treadmill going down. AND I gave them specific directions from the storage unit and they got lost. It is a 10 minute drive, 4 turns. Yes only 4 turns in which they couldn't seem to remember. Your general manager was sitting in his car for a while waiting for them. "Luckily for me"...THE WORST. Don't go with this company! Your reply This is what was reported upon completion by your site supervisor... From storage... Storage was not a truck access garage but rather up an Elevator and down a corridor -heavy front load washer had to be dollied -dryer -Fridge (handles had to be taken off and reinstalled) 3 sofa chairs From Home -3 complexly assembled beds had to be completely de assembled and re assembled by us, not the 2 minute metal frame type. -3 dressers, 1 had a mirror to remove and reattach -four chairs - large kitchen table had to have legs taken off and reinstalled -3 sofa chairs from the storage, -elliptical (had trouble getting down stairwell into the basement) -treadmill (had trouble getting down to bm.) -front door and stairwell door had to come off. Luckily for you... after we discovered the actual size of the job...we sent our Assistant General Manager out to assist as a 3rd mover to aid in efficiency to cut down on truck rental charges. We also cut 2 movers and the truck off the clock ASAP and left 1 mover to conduct assembly... saving you even more money on truck rental charges. Power tools don't save much assembly/disassembly time. Most movers carry a toolbox with hand tools for assembly and disassembly. Power drill in residential moving are uncommon. They break, lose bits, or the batteries don't hold a charge. They also over torque, and/or strip nuts, bolt, and screw heads and threadings. Note: As requested; we conducted your job on a Friday... which resulted in a 10% surcharge. Your bill would have been roughly $630 Monday- Thursday. Note: As requested; we ran the balance on a card at an agreed 3% processing fee. Your bill would have been $610 if paid in cash. They guys who showed up from Budget Movers did a great job. They were on time, hard workers, and really took care of all our goods from loading, securing on the truck, and unloading. They took their time to review the hourly rates and charges that we could expect on the front end, and explained the closing bill at the conclusion of the move. Before the big day, i called around to a lot of places for the most reasonable quote. Budget movers was by far the cheapest. I wasn't looking for people to pack for me or wrap all my stuff, just get my stuff from point a to point b in one piece and in a timely manner. Nick was a straight shooter and provided just that. We were pretty organized to begin with so it made things move very fast. 4 guys arrived around 9 and went to work quickly. Very polite and professional which was nice considering how hectic the day was. We had a ton of help from family and friends with smaller items, but said and done, the move was done around 3pm which is just crazy with the amount of stuff we had. Received a quote and once quote was finalized the owner declined because he didn't want to move only the heavy items, which are dressers a 240 lb gun safe and nothing that wouldn't be found in a normal residential home. No appliances were being moved, the owner clearly wants the bigger easier jobs, save your time getting a quote, they are cheap for a reason! If he wants to refute my claims I happy to post pictures of the items to let consumers see how ridiculous and self serving his actions are, matter of fact I think I will, absolutely ridiculous interaction. read more

I signed up for extra insurance coverage, but one of my large screen TV's was broken and the owner refused to give me the contact info for his insurance carrier. Terrible! I would not hire them again! I have moved many times and this is the only time the movers have left half my household still remaining at my old house. Their leader was rude to me right from the start. At one point there were 6 workers and it was like a bunch of little ants running around. I did not know one truck was heading to my new house. When I got there they had the truck unloaded in my front yard. They didn't move the refrigerators around like they were supposed to. Didn't move the patio table, the bistro set on the deck, didn't touch either shed items, left totes in the attic, didn't replace hand railing or closure on front door. Didn't move 2 shelving units they were told several times to move. Left Christmas decor in basement, storage unit for VCR tapes or any of my cd's. Lots of misc items left behind. We told them to leave 2 frogs in the garage, a large entertainment unit in basement, the washer and dryer, a dresser in one bedroom so these were items they didn't have to load up and move. They married my dining room table, broke a light bulb in my bedroom set and a switch to turn the lights on in that set. I had moved many loads in my Rav4 before the movers came and of course many since then and I'm still not done. Now I have to pay someone else to come move my refrigerators around. All the tools were left in the garage. They broke a Barbie lunch pail and I found 4 Barbies sitting in a wet area of the garage. These items are collectibles. They set my bed where they wanted it to go. I asked them to move it and they did but didn't want to because they thought they would damage it. As it is, it is not sitting right and one of the mirrors is loose and the wood not lined up. There are 2 storage units that were to be moved and they are still at the old house. I'm not sure I can get them into my Rav4 because of the size. There are a couple small totes with papers that I have not been able to locate. Just a very bad experience! read more

My experience with this company left much to be desired. After paying a reservation fee and getting a confirmation call the day before, I was ready to go an hour ahead of time. My reservation was between 7-9. At 10, I called the office and got no answer so I left a message, also sent an email. An hour later, I called again and someone answered asking if I wanted to reserve a time. I explained it was 11, two hours later than my window. He said he would figure it out and call me back. Around 12 I received a call that they were behind and would be there around 3.. six hours after my window. I asked when they would have let me know this if I didn't call and he said around 3 I would have gotten a call they were close.. Frustrated, I waited. 4 comes around and they called and said they were a few minutes away. After discussing my frustration, I was told one of them would clock out (didn't happen) and they would waive the time to my apartment. In about an hour and a half, we were done moving. After $280 total, I expected some sort of communication. I was told the owners had food positing and that's why they were delayed. What I'm not understanding, is why I was never informed of the delay. It took many phone calls to get answers on when they would be there. The movers who came were very nice and respectful, but I'd never recommend this company to anyone seeing as they had no respect for my time or reservation, and had no communication. I never received a response from the owner either. Go with a different company, don't let them waste your time. read more

I had to convince the owner that I really had a 400 pound gun safe to move. He thought it might be heavier. I can understand his position because there were 10 steps that needed to be navigated to get it out of the house. Once he saw the safe he knew there would be no problem. Please read to understand why one star was chosen. My complaint is not with the employees, they crew I have hired two times were amazing. My move on 7/31/18 took me by surprise, they were busy that day and did squeeze my move in since we hate a previous relationship. The moving trailer was too small and I was told right away that this would take 2 trips. The houses were 10 minutes apart so it wasn't a problem at all. The problems started when the owner showed up at my new location. His concerns started because my dog went into the trailer and he was concerned for his safety, I was doing my to get the dog out of the way and tell each mover where items were going, either the house or a the POD. He began screaming at me to tell them when the items were to go and lost his mind. I've NEVER been talked to like that in my life. We got into an extraordinary screaming match. He pulled his guys off the move, locked the truck up and said he was taking my stuff to storage. Unless I paid him right then and there, we still had one more trip to get from my old residence. I paid him cash. He was out of his mind, repeating himself , he just wanted to keep fighting. My boyfriend met us at the old location because I was very scared of the OWNER, Nick. Finally, he discounted my bill and explained the whole situation about 10 times to my boyfriend. I secretly tipped the crew, as I was crying uncontrollably just being involved in something so unexpected. His employees represent his company 100 times better than he did. It's really upsetting because I thought so highly of the people that had moved me in the past. Extremely difficult person to work with and I recommend if you use Budget Movers, never let Nick the owner on your property. All his employees will hopefully find better employment, I can only imagine how he treats them after he went crazy on a women who was by herself. read more

Worst mistake i ever made. They totally ruined a $2000 refrigerator with scratches and dents then had the nerve to say the dents were done after they dropped them off. They refuse to pay for the damages. i could have collected a whopping $90 to help with the $700 in damage. So they just dropped the stuff in my garage and left. Called the owner and he blamed the whole thing on me for some reason. He won't stand behind his company and movers so i wouldn't use them. The only way it's a budget for any one is if you pay cash.
