I wish I could give 0 stars. It took 45 minutes in line to be told that I had to wait another 30 minutes to get the car class I requested. I settled for a different one, but it was out of necessity not choice. The car was fine, but return was the same poor care. The 2 people who were supposed to check us in and provide receipts were busy driving cars away to make room, they told us to just leave the car. I knew it was a mistake, but didn't have a choice (again). And sure enough, I had to contest 2 charges when i got my bill. I had a very disappointing experience with Budget at the Orlando Airport. After checking in and receiving my rental assignment, I went to the vehicle only to find another customer already loading luggage into it. The same vehicle had apparently been assigned to both of us. I returned to the Fastbreak counter to explain the situation. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, the employee abruptly snatched the paperwork out of my hand and stated that my vehicle had been double-booked. The interaction was unprofessional and discourteous. I then spoke with a supervisor, who reassigned me to another small SUV. Given the inconvenience caused by Budget's mistake, I asked if there was a larger vehicle available as a courtesy upgrade. I was told there was nothing available, despite multiple larger 7-passenger SUVs sitting in the lot. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. They really need to upgrade their check in system like Hertz or Alamo where you can directly walk to the garage to pick up your car with lining up at the counter at the airport. The vehicle had a very strong, unpleasant odor. This made the week-long rental period uncomfortable. No replacement vehicles were available. Budget offered a discount, but the process was complicated. After returning the car, I had to contact customer service, request a price adjustment, and wait 5 business days for a partial refund. A better solution would have been preferred. Budget's policy regarding vehicle cleanliness states they aim for a 100% smoke-free fleet and inspect vehicles before rental. Days later, I was charged over $100 in extra fees, including $65 for toll transponder usage I never opted into or used. Despite disputing the charge, filing complaints, and even getting Costco involved, the company refuses to remove it. The other fee was for a tank refill for which I had a receipt, and it still took a ton of effort to get the fee removed. This is the definition of a bait and switch. This location engages in predatory and deliberately deceptive sales practices. When I arrived at the counter I verbally and explicitly declined both the collision damage waiver and the fuel/gas waiver -- not once, but clearly and directly to the staff member assisting me. I was then handed a contract and led to believe I was signing solely to confirm my rental dates. At no point was I told these charges had been added, nor were they pointed out to me. I only discovered both unauthorized charges after reviewing my final bill which came out to nearly $800. When I raised this concern I was told that because I signed the contract it was legally binding. I have since read dozens of recent reviews from this past week alone and customers are reporting the exact same experience over and over again. This is not a mistake. This is intentional. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Florida Attorney General's Office, and the Federal Trade Commission. We have rented from Budget Orlando Airport a few years in a row but this most recent time on January 8th 2026. After we landed and claimed our baggage we got on line at the rental car area and when my mother and I were finally called after 15 minutes on line around 3 pm we were greeted by a middle-aged man who frankly was cross abrupt and insisted that we could only have an SUV instead of the sedan car we requested when we made our reservation! He showed absolutely no empathy or remorse whatsoever and just pushed along like we were wasting his precious time. We believe he was Cuban but thankfully two very nice Dominican was very nice and accommodating toward us. She said that she didn't have a Sedan car at that moment but if we were willing to wait she might have a car for us. As it happened, we were called 5-10 minutes later and we were offered a nice silver Nissan Altima. We thanked the lady who definitely diffused a rather stressful situation caused by the Budget customer service representative who has much to learn about being courteous and accommodating! He should have mentioned the fact that we were going to get charged an additional 11.67 for e-tolls and have our own transponder thru Florida SunPass which we never agreed to! read more
