Our cabin was 45 minutes away and we had no luck with Uber. He took our family of 5 back to our cabin. One of her roommates' dad came out and changed the starter for her, but it still wouldn't start. I found Brown's Automotive on Google and had the car towed there based on proximity to her house and Google reviews. When I got there I told him that we just put a brand new starter on it, but it still wasn't starting. I told him that I lived out of town, so I needed it repaired quickly. He said he would look at it, but has a mandatory $150 for the first hour. I said ok. He called me and said the new starter was faulty and had to replace it. He did, then called back and said his starter didn't fix the problem either and thought it was the ignition. He said it would take time because it is hard to get to. Well, I didn't hear from him in 2 days. I texted and no response. I called and he just said same thing "I'm working on it, but think it's the ignition." I didn't hear from him again for several days, so her dad called him. He told him that he couldn't work on the car because it was raining and he works on cars outside. I told him he lied to you because he has a big shop with 2 bays. After having the car for exactly 7 days, he finally calls me and says "There is nothing more I can do. I think its the ignition, but to test it I have to take the steering column apart, if I do that I mine as well just replace it." So basically since the day he got it, he changed out a brand new starter that we just put on it and did nothing else with it. Just let it sit for 6 days. So I told him I was going to have it towed somewhere else. He charged me $460. I knew immediately that he was screwing me over, but I just wanted my car back and to finally go home so I paid it. I looked at the receipt and saw he charged $160 for the part which I new was right, the $150 for the labor which he told me in advance about, and then $150 for diagnosis. He didn't diagnose anything because he never touched the car after the starter. Then I noticed at the bottom of the receipt he wrote "car won't start ignition?" Was that what I paid $150 for? That is NOT a diagnosis! The new mechanic sent me a video to show he didn't even put the heat cover over the starter he installed (see attached pictures). So he also screwed me over for the $150 half-ass installation he did. What a crook! Do NOT waste your money. I think all of these positive reviews are just family and friends of his and not real customers.

I was traveling in my wife's minivan with our Labrador, Mia. During the trip, I began having battery and alternator problems. After replacing both the battery and alternator in North Carolina, the battery warning light came back on late Monday night. I drove to the nearest AutoZone and stayed there until they opened the next morning. The wonderful employees at AutoZone recommended S&S Mobile Mechanics, and I am incredibly grateful that they did. When I arrived, Chris, Shawn, and Shawn's wife warmly welcomed both Mia and me into their home. They made sure Mia had a comfortable place to rest while they immediately began inspecting the minivan. Chris identified the alternator problem within minutes and replaced it right there. They charged me only $150 for the service, which was extremely reasonable, especially considering how quickly they helped me and the situation I was facing. They were respectful, professional, compassionate, and genuinely good-hearted people. They understood that I was trying to make it safely to Texas and went above and beyond to help ensure that I could continue my trip without further problems. I am happy to say that Mia and I made it safely to Texas, and the minivan is running wonderfully. People like Chris, Shawn, and Shawn's wife give me hope for humanity. We need more people--and more companies--like S&S Mobile Mechanics in this world. As a retired Air Force Major who is accustomed to handling difficult situations, I can honestly say that their kindness and support brought tears of joy to my eyes. I called my mom and she came to get me and took me to the hospital to get fluids. I went two days later I called to find out if my truck was OK and was told about towe towing and crane .so I called them ,the man said it would cost $ 2,400 to get my truck i was tapped so I asked if he could do $1,500 because I could sell my other truck for that he said no and that it would go higher daily,the next day the unthinkable happened my mother died in her sleep at only 57 years old this put everything in my world upside down I had to pay for funeral cost burial and everything that goes with it ,she had no savings or insurance so it was terrible. I called towe about a week later,I couldn't even bear seeing anyone but I had to get my truck and all my tools ,20 years worth of tools were on that truck ,a small fortune,the man was unreasonable so desperate I asked if I could get my tools ,he told me what i needed ,all i had was photo copied of my passport,drivers licence because i do work in africa i made this for emergencies,also had title in my name they refused me ,3 times and within 2 weeks auctioned my truck,to their friends and split up my tools amoungst themselves. The man admitted this to me months later,this destroyed a now 4 year part of my life i am still haunted by the coldness of these people,i pleeded with them not wanting to usr my mothers death as leverage she was worth more than that. I had to tell them but they didnt care.and e v en broke the law selling my truck way before they were allowed,and refusing me to get my tools when i had proof of ownership. It was a GMC 7000 WITH A GIANT HYDROLIC BED ,FROM DUKE POWER FOR SETTING TELEPHONE POLES. it took 20 years of hard work to fill all those boxes full of all the right tools because i bought them all new,with no help. Yall say my generation doesnt know how to do anything ,that we dont want to work ,well some of us are fighting everyday just to be able to work with people like this standing on our necks and robbing us blind.
