I rented a truck for my move. On the way back to return the truck, there was a rainstorm that my driver had to drive through. The cab of the truck leaked so the driver and passenger got soaked! The water was coming in at the seams. I have a video of what it was like for them! This was a safety issue as well as being very uncomfortable for the driver and passenger. I called Budget to get some kind of compensation/credit for this and the most they could give was $35. The truck had to have been wrecked in the past or why else would the cab leak like that. In addition, I was not told there would be an extra charge for an additional driver and an additional driver under the age of 25 so was surprised when that showed up on my final bill as well. I have been charged almost $400 for a 12 foot box truck for 8 hours local drive!! Said I reserved it twice in one day and I'm charged for not picking up a truck!! After they called and asked if I picked up the truck! Scam! I rented a budget truck on February 3, 2023, on February 4,2023 I was suppose to move to another state. But I could not because budget truck broke down. I called emergency roadside, who left me stuck for almost 2 Days. I was hung up on for expressing how this ruined my move. I paid movers to load the truck that had broke down, budget would not refund my money, nor pay for my hotel room. This was my first time using budget, I usually use Uhaul. Stay away!! This was the worst experience I have ever had with a truck rental company. We usually use UHaul, but we received a substantial coupon which made it cheaper to go with Budget. In the long run, it cost us significantly more to go with Budget. Even though we said we did not want the extra insurance, they charged us anyway. We rented a truck for 5 days. On Day 4, they called us and told us we would be charged a late fee for not returning the truck at 8am. I explained my reservation was for 5 days and that the truck was due the next day at 8am as it was stated on the contract. Well, guess what? My credit card was changed for a late fee, but not for an extra day, which if I was a day late (which I was not) wouldn't there be a charge for an extra day in addition to the late fee? I had a horrible experience there today. I came in from out of town to move my aunt to a new place. I had a reservation that had already been paid for by credit card. Upon calling a few minutes before my reservation time to confirm my arrival, they informed me that they didn't have a truck for me. It was incredibly frustrating to learn that my reservation didn't mean anything. The agent there offered to help me find another truck at another location (nice offer) but then proceeded to attend to incoming phone calls, leaving us waiting in the office. I would give this zero stars if I could. I made a reservation one month prior, thinking this would be plenty of time for me to secure a truck rental. 6 hours before my reservation time I get a call stating there are no trucks available. Why would they wait the day of the reservation to call me??? Not only that, but I was flying in from out of town that same day as well, and had already hired movers. The person did not even offer to call other Budget offices in the area. I called other budget offices and was told by one manager that he will look and give me a call or email in the next 15 minutes to 2 hours. NEVER heard back from them. Luckily I was able to secure a Uhaul that day, but I would not recommend Budget if this is how they do business. read more

Rented a truck for my move. Said they would charge me one thing then decided to charge me another so I had to come back. When I came back they said they no longer had the truck to rent. Charged me a $50 no show fee even though they were the ones who didn't have the truck so I called them to get it refunded and they said they would. A month later still no refund. Now magically they can't find me but they'll send it to corporate so I can get my money back. Another 2 weeks later and still no refund. Absolute trash. read more

We rented a truck from this location on 7/18 for our trip to Boston. I have never rented such a filthy truck. It took us 2 hours to clean up this mess. I even left floor mats in the truck that I had purchased so we drive it without getting our shoes dirty. I have contacted Budget Corporate twice. Guess what? No response. This is the second time my son in law reserved a truck from this Budget location and they called and said they did not have a truck!!!! What is a person to do, at this late date! There are no rentals available in town and they have to move. What a terrible way to do business!! read more

I have rented cars from here and a truck and have never had a single problem. The wait is long at times bc there is light staff but all of the ladies have been really helpful. They have been upfront about everything all 4 times I have rented. read more

We made a Budget truck rental reservation online about one week prior to our moving day. My husband arrived at the Columbus, Ohio location as scheduled and had to wait TWO HOURS just to check in with the one employee that was working there. After his extended wait, he was told that they overbooked their trucks for the weekend and that he would have to drive to a different location. He drove to the other location (about 25 minutes away) only to wait for another HOUR. When he finally reached the check-in desk, they too were oversold on trucks. He then had to drive to a third location (30 minutes away) to finally retrieve our reserved rental. They offered a 20% discount for the trouble but any company with basic customer service standards would have covered the entire bill. Worst truck rental experience ever. read more

Remember the Seinfeld episode "You can TAKE the reservation but you can't KEEP the reservation?" This place was the inspiration for that show. I showed up at 9am to pick up a moving truck that I reserved a month in advance and confirmed the day before only to be told there were no trucks available. There were at least 4 other people in the same situation. That meant we all had to scramble to find a rental from another company. I would not recommend renting from this location. read more

My parents flew in from Miami Fl and spent almost 1,000.00 on plane flights. They came to empty a huge storage unit in town. Weeks in advance they used budget on bethel for a truck rental. 1 hour before truck pickup budget called to tell us that they will not have a truck for us. They didnt even offer a free truck later. The only thing they said was there was no truck and we are sorry. Now we can't find a truck anywhere in town on such short notice. I would never use this location or budget truck rental again. I will make sure everyone I know hears this story. This may end up costing my parents multiple thousands of dollars if they have to return. read more

I have never felt so cheated by any company I have ever done business with! When I checked out the truck, I pointed out that it was already somewhat below the full mark. They said that was fine, not to worry about it. When I returned it after only going 16 miles in it, the fuel still looked to be at the same place on the gauge, so I didn't top it off. Then the bill that should have been about $40.00 came, but it was for $99.00. They told me they charged me for 7 gallons of gas because I didn't return it full.. I pointed out that there was no way that I used that much gas, since I only drove it 16 miles, but they kept saying that was their policy. Afterwards I called twice, and each time they promised me the manager would call me. I never did get a call. I would sooner carry my stuff on my back for miles, one piece at time, than ever do business with this disgrace of a company again. read more

I wish I could review a car rental for Budget, but they just could not pull it off. I showed up on a Sunday as reserved and pre paid, only to be told by the Manager (who told us as she was leaving for a baby shower) that the "system was down and it should be 15 minutes" as she left. Well I waited for 1.5 hours only to be told that they could not issue a contract without the system being up. Came back the next day and they tried to tack an extra $144 plus the day's rental the day before to the tune of over $200. All on a pre paid reservation. I called budget and they told me that they had protocols in place to do hand written contracts, but the Manager bailed on her employees mid crisis. She simply did not give a rip. The gentleman and lady working at the counter were very nice, but it was apparent that their hands were tied by extremely poor management. All on a pre paid, pre arranged contract. Failed all around. I'd give them zero stars if I could. Just do not use these folks if you need to actually get a car or be somewhere. They wasted two mornings of my time and I ended up walking 45 minutes back to where I was staying not once but twice. Really awful service. Do not use them. read more

I'm not sure what it is with Budget, but they don't seem to honor reservations at all. I had reserved a truck a week in advance for moving over the weekend. I double checked my reservation online and everything was good to go. When we showed up here to pick up the truck, we were told there weren't any trucks at that location. There was no apology for the inconvenience and no sense of urgency. The woman working called into the customer service line to try to locate us another truck, which she found across town. We had to drive to the Bethel location to pick up the truck. When we arrived at that location, we waited for about 10 minutes before anyone helped us. We had also reserved a dolly for moving a washer and dryer. I was told "remind me about the dolly when we get out there." I was also told that there was an extra $10 fee for dropping off the truck at the end of the day after-hours and leaving the key in the dropbox (completely ridiculous in my opinion, that should be more convenient for them.) When we got the truck back to begin moving we realized it didn't even have a ramp, making the dolly pretty much useless since everything had to be lifted into the truck. All in all, picking up the truck took about an hour and a half altogether and dropping it back off was also inconvenient. When we showed up to drop it off, there were absolutely no spaces left in the parking lot to park it. TL;DR - don't rent a truck through Budget. All of my Uhaul experiences have been super quick, my reservation honored, and they make the process as easy and seamless as possible for about the same price. read more
