My husband and I were recently in Jeffersontown to visit some shops and when it was time for lunch I checked Yelp to discover that we were very close to Bud's Tavern. Thank you, Yelp! We found Bud's not far from Main Street, in a strip mall. The inside is spacious and there is also a large outdoor area with a stage. There are a great number of TVs behind the bar and also on other walls within the establishment. There are many gaming machines for enjoyment too. We were greeted immediately upon entering and our server was so friendly. She checked on us frequently, but not to the point of being bothersome. I was in the mood for a burger and their burger didn't disappoint! Even taken off the bun (dietary restriction), I was barely able to finish it! It was just okay. It took a while (10 minutes or longer) for someone to come take our drink order. Service lacked & it seemed like there wasn't much effort. The food was just okay too. I have had this place on my list of restaurants to try and hands down we will be going back sooner rather than later. We just popped in to listen to our favorite local band Most Wanted from 1.30 till 2.30 on a Saturday afternoon. Bud's was hosting a fund raiser for Kids cancer Alliance. We participated in 50/50 drawing, cruised around the car show that was taking place in the parking lot and listened to the band. The staff were very friendly and they have a lovely outdoor stage and seating area. Nice event, well organized. We just ordered an order of french fries but they were served hot and were very tasty. First time eating at Bud's. Service a bit slow, but it was a Friday night and quite busy. Our waitress was fantastic and very knowledgeable and friendly. Three of our party got fish. They raved about it. I got a Carolina burger which was really good. I wouldn't call this a dive bar, but it has a very comfortable feel. You can tell people know each other and entire atmosphere is that of a big family reunion. They have a full service bar, and the restrooms were clean. My wife and I believe we've found our new place for a beer and a sandwich. read more

Came here with a friend of mine for lunch since he heard they had great fish and his friend was right!!! We each ordered the fish dinner and the fish was excellent. Fish was not greasy with the right amount of batter. He enjoyed his onion rings while I liked my seasoned fries. We both agreed that the coleslaw was great. I've eaten here before about 5 times over two years. The fish sandwich is good. I got my food fast today even with them being busy. I just was incredible disappointed with one facet of the service today when I was held hostage for 22 minutes waiting for my check. So much for a fast lunch. I know they were down two people and they were working hard, but even she admitted aloud she kept forgetting about me. It was not appreciated although I still left an appropriate tip, but going forward I am not coming back. I'll just go somewhere else for a fish sandwich in the future where I hopefully am remembered and not forgotten. Lack of customer service at their food truck. The lady taking orders recorded the order incorrectly which left one of us without our their order, only a container full of greasy fries which we'd actually asked not to include. No effort to make right on the order. I'll assume going to their physical location would get similar service. Cash only food truck; however, most others will accept a credit card. This place is a little hidden gem. The food was really good. You have to understand this is tavern food but it is done very well. The bowl of beans with cornbread pancake yummmmy. Tuesday night is local live music. Can get a little loud but you can go to the other side of the tavern to get away from it. Buds was a welcoming place for an outsider. I had a bowl of bean soup which was very good and a fish dinner which was a long filet breaded on the kitchen. The fish was also good. I would have liked a crispy crust but it was still a good meal. It came with fries. That and a bucket of 5 beers was $30. A cheap night. read more

False advertisement...I reviewed Buds Website for food selection and pricing. I called number from site and placed order for a hamburger. Website showed a price of $11.95 When picking up the order the waitress said the price was $18.00. I questioned why the difference and she said the website was not Buds and belongs to some other company. I showed her the website on my phone listing the correct address and phone number for Buds Tavern. She again said this was not their website. First time here, how can you not go with the high ratings it gets and it's local, small business. It is very well lit, very. Big menu with lots of choices. But first I tried the Heineken in the bottle, cold and delicious just as expected. Asked for a side Jameson but they were out so I opted for the Makers Mark. Tried the smoked brisket with pickles, red onion and chips. Pretty good. Sat at the bar so service was excellent and I did not witness anyone sitting at the multitude of tables wanting for anything either. Quite a few monitors around the walls and easily visible. The fish seems to be a favorite there so I will either try it or the smoked wings. I will return. read more

Surprisingly, this place is clean, has friendly staff, and is well lit. I fully expected a dingy old bar, but it has been remodeled and updated. There is a nice outdoor space and an expanded dining room away from the bar. They have live music some nights and karaoke also. After the pleasantries above, let's talk about the food ... it is just average. I've tried a few different items. Some are good and some are just okay. The fried cheese cubes are good with Thai chili sauce. The grilled pineapple chicken and fries are good. My husband really likes the fried fish, the bean soup with cornbread, and the cheeseburger. The items that could be improved are nachos, smoked wings, and smoked chicken. These items lacked flavor or were just okay. Overall, we like the convenience of this place and the potential it has, but it just isn't GREAT food. read more

Have always had a good experience until today. Arrived at 1:05 pm. Bartender advised only seats bussed were at the bar. We sat until 1:15 until we ordered drinks. At 1:25 we got a menu. Ordered immediately. Food came out of kitchen, kitchen rang bell to alert the bartender. Bartender was engaging in conversation the entire time. 1:35 and our food was still sitting under a heat lamp. 1:47 we walked out advising the bartender we did not want cold food. The one poor server who was waiting tables got no help from the bartender who was far too busy talking to already served patrons at the bar. She was at her wits end trying to serve and bus dirty tables. Bartender was busy yapping at the bar. Sorry. We will not return. The regular bartender always helped out by helping serve and bussing tables between bar drink orders. This young lady was far more concerned about chit chat to do her job. read more
