Always on the hunt for great BBQ, my search led me to Martin's on a Tuesday night last week. It was a slow evening, with only a handful of other diners, but that worked in my favor--plenty of brisket left, and it was perfect. Tender, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you order brisket. For my side, I went with the mac n' cheese, which was better than average--satisfying without being overly heavy. I finished the meal with a slice of pecan pie that deserves its own spotlight: hands down the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is casual and fun, with plenty of high-top seating and tables. TVs are scattered throughout so you can keep up with your favorite game while you eat. I even spent some time admiring the walls--where else can you enjoy BBQ in the company of a Jaws poster and the Marlboro Man? Turns out, at Martin's. Bonus points for a large parking lot, making it easy to get in and out. If you're looking for great brisket and a laid-back vibe, Martin's BBQ is worth the stop.

Nice staff and delicious meat (we had brisket + pork). I had the farmhouse fries and I think the fries were over holding time because they were hard, but the staff was quick to fry fresh fries and remake it for us. The portions are good for what you're paying for and you can split things and get paper plates to share. Store environment is rustic and good for gatherings and outside seating as well.

We received a gift card to Martin's for Christmas and picked up a to-go order. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a pulled pork taco with a cornbread hoecake and the smoked brisket chili. Since we had never had Martin's, we had zero expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised! The serving sizes were huge, the food was very flavorful, and the staff were all very nice and helpful, offering us extra flavors of BBQ sauce to try. We will definitely be back!

Martin's is so good! Don't go too late because sometimes they sell out. We got the last of the pulled pork on a Monday night around 7:30. Order at the counter, take a number, and grab a seat. Plenty of indoor seating, bar top tables, big and small tables, and a big covered sunroom if you prefer outside. They also have a big room for parties and offer catering. Everything js delicious--my favorite is the trays with two sides. The hoecake is more like a pancake rather than cornbread so you know what to expect. Not pictured is the homemade banana pudding--if it's available, grab it at checkout, you won't regret it.

Stephen was a great server. He was very friendly and full of information. He recommended broccoli salad and the brisket and ribs. He was not wrong! The brisket was full of flavor and the dry ribs were falling off the bone. The drinks were great! The only downside was they didn't have any copper mugs for my mule. Overall, two thumbs up.

Great service & great food! I had the mixed 1/4 chicken with broccoli salad & fries. The rest of the group had the platter with ribs, brisket with Mac n cheese & hush puppies, etc. All the food was great!! We didn't get sauces initially but a really nice young man explained the sauces & brought some out. The hush puppies are very large & have a lot of cornmeal.

Should it look like this? and look at the fries. Mine were burned and black and the patty on the burger was VERY THIN!

I ordered a Brisket burger, and got a patty with t few millimeters of thickness and a tiny bit of brisket on it. When I asked the waitresses which part of it was a the brisket, she looked over and said: It is on top. My friend, next to me, got a much better burger, loaded to the top and mine was a few millimeters thick. At $14 bucks a pop, and 20 % gratuity on top of it. I will not be returning here.

Be prepared for some sticker shock, the brisket plate was $25. What food that was there was good, just not enough for the price.

Drove from Indy to see the Kentucky Christmas Caves. We wanted to eat bque near by, and Martins came up. Inside the restaurant it was designed with all this old fashion car plates and pictures. It was very clean and the staff was so nice. Always, asking if we needed refills or a container. Very polite all the staff. The food was amazing good. I got the beef brisket plate, with beans and potato salad. My family got the ribs with Mac and Cheese and beans. The beef brisket was thick and tender not alot of fat at all. The meat fell off the bone on the ribs. Everything is made in house including the sides. The potato salad was so good, the beans spicy to my liking, and the Mac and Cheese had a nice topping on top, but they could have been creamer. They have a full bar in house I had a pour of the Kentucky Bourbon, that's made there. I will definitely be back it's about a 2 hour drive. Thank for the delicious food, and wonderful staff.

The food was great. The tacos were delicious and the brisket was so tender. Food came out quick after we ordered and staff checked in on us often. The restaurant made it feel like we were on vacation! It was fun to look at the different signs and decor around the restaurant. Would come back if I lived closer!

The brisket was excellent. Great flavor and just enough moisture to be good but not greasy. The sides were awesome!

Bar-B-Que had no decent sauce on it. Didn't like having to order at bar. Need to educate new patrons to their menu.

The dining area is small and no frills, so I'd probably use the drive-thru or take it to-go next time. We ordered the 4 whole spicy wings meal with two sides. I was surprised they include the entire wing, including the tip. Each wing comes with the drum, flat, and tip. The wing tip is actually my favorite part, and it's rare to find restaurants that leave it on. The chicken was incredibly crispy without being greasy, and the spicy seasoning had just the right amount of heat. I want that recipe! For our sides, we doubled up on the potato wedges, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. They seem like they're coated in the same seasoned batter as the chicken, giving them an extra crispy crunch on the outside. Pro tip: Order the purple drink! It has a grape flavor with a fruity twist, and it pairs perfectly with the spicy chicken. Overall, Chicken King is worth a stop if you're in Louisville. Between the huge portions and affordable prices, it's easy to see why it's been a longtime favorite among locals.

Crunchy breading, juicy and tender inside. They were not spicey or dripping in any sauce, just regular breaded and I thought "I am going to have to go to this place soon" After doing some research I found that they have drive thru only for dinner hours. So I made my trip down Broadway to Chicken King and could not miss the big yellow sign nor the already 7 cars in the drive thru. Since this chicken has a otremendous fan base, I considered myself lucky to be #8 in line as others pulled behind me. The menu is packed full of items, so my first tip is to look up the menu online before you go...less pressure once you arrive...lol I ordered the 8 PC box (regular) for my husband, 3 PC tenders (that comes with 3 potato wedges) for myself and a medium peach cobbler to share. I was very disappointed that the tenders were not fresh nor freshly breaded. They were pressed and glued white meat formed into a tender. I actually only ate one, shared one with my dog and threw the last one away. The potato wedges were the star. I should have ordered more of those. My husband, who LOVES fried chicken was not impressed. He said KFC and Golden Corral has better. The peach cobbler was average. So, I am sorry to summarize our experience as not having a reason to return.

We chose the main floor bar because there were less people and we were helped right away. We got a couple drinks each and all were pretty good- no watered down drinks here! My favorite was the espresso martini. We also opted for the Doritos nachos which were pretty filling for an appetizer! It took a long time for us to be greeted, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. It was just my friend and me along with a larger group of about 10 people. One thing that made it confusing was that the employees didn't seem to have consistent uniforms, so it was difficult to tell who actually worked there. Our server was friendly, but he kept forgetting items we requested and took a long time to return to our table. I used to be a server myself, so I understand that things happen and I try to give people grace. However, the pace of service felt excessive considering how few tables were occupied. The food was okay overall, but I actually thought my meal tasted better after reheating the leftovers at home. My friend also noticed that part of her chicken looked undercooked, which was concerning. We didn't feel confident about that portion of the meal. The biggest downside for me was the pricing. For the portion sizes, food quality, and overall experience, it felt overpriced. I can definitely see why people like the atmosphere because it's a cute spot, but between the slow service, the concerns with the food, and the prices, my visit didn't live up to my expectations. I'm hoping this was just an off day because the restaurant has a lot of potential.
