Buffalo Chicken Sandwich & Onion Rings

Great neighborhood restaurant and bar! Friendly staff, good food & a full bar. Enjoyed a buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings and some red wine. Clean bathroom, much appreciated. Parking can be challenging. Will be back!

Nice impromptu casual dinner date spot! Parking limited but normal for this area along Frankfort Avenue. Our waitress was friendly and attentive enough, our food was decent, and I especially loved the crock of tomato soup with cheesy croutons on top! We didn't order alcohol or appetizers but may on a future visit as several on the drink menu looked unique!

This was our first time to eat here. It was highly recommended by our family who visit often. We arrived late afternoon and chose a booth since they weren't busy. Our server came over quickly and took our order for drinks. We decided to get spicy bloody Mary's which were fantastic. I picked the Fish and chips. Four large Cod Filets, Hush Puppies, Slaw and French Fries. My wife got the Fish sandwich. A large piece of Cod on a bun and Fries. The fish was firm and lightly breaded and delicious. Our server brought our food quickly and made sure to check back on several times to ensure everything was just right. The service was exceptional. There are TVs around for sports and a large fully stocked bar. A great place to gather. We can't wait to go back

Nice ambiance and whole sitting at the bar, the staff were personable. Today was the wing special day at $1 per wing. I asked for them to be dropped raw and cooked. They said today that was not possible and they would need to be double fried. That means they cook ahead of time and finish the last 5 min when you order. Very common where wings are a special where they fry in batches, all day and then set them aside for the evening rush. Problem with that is they only come out warm and the meat pulls differently off the bone. The best wings you'll have will be fried from raw and come out piping hot. I ordered the Philly cheeses steak and onion rings. The Philly was not traditional but was excellent! Made from an in-house roast. The onion rings were some of the best I've had! Made from scratch and with an excellent breading. Two winners!

had a wonderful early dinner here. the booths are very comfy and there were plenty of TVs for entertainment. the service was attentive and fast. We had the pretzel (soft and buttery), fish and chips (crispy and crunchy), and the bbq bacon burger (great flavors and cooked perfectly). If you get only one thing get the onion rings, they're out of this world.

I've had mac and cheese at a million different places and this is easily top 5, maybe top 3. So delicious, perfect mix of veggies, the mushrooms were killer and the portion was filling. Great service here too. Oh yeah the fried pickles were also great.

Food may be good, and service may be amazing, tunes may be good, but they let people smoke out back in patio area. Won't be back.

Very friendly staff! Everyone is so nice. This has the feel of a great neighborhood bar. Started off with cocktails. I got the "Dan"hatten, yup a standard Manhattan but it was good. Since it was Sunday we got their 5 for $5 wings dry rub. So crispy and good. For meal I got the Double stack with fries . Okay, so their fries are wonderful and the burger's are excellent. I think I found my new spot for burgers and fries!

What about parking? My wife has some difficulties.

They have a few private parking spaces, otherwise it's street parking.

The dining area is small and no frills, so I'd probably use the drive-thru or take it to-go next time. We ordered the 4 whole spicy wings meal with two sides. I was surprised they include the entire wing, including the tip. Each wing comes with the drum, flat, and tip. The wing tip is actually my favorite part, and it's rare to find restaurants that leave it on. The chicken was incredibly crispy without being greasy, and the spicy seasoning had just the right amount of heat. I want that recipe! For our sides, we doubled up on the potato wedges, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. They seem like they're coated in the same seasoned batter as the chicken, giving them an extra crispy crunch on the outside. Pro tip: Order the purple drink! It has a grape flavor with a fruity twist, and it pairs perfectly with the spicy chicken. Overall, Chicken King is worth a stop if you're in Louisville. Between the huge portions and affordable prices, it's easy to see why it's been a longtime favorite among locals.

Crunchy breading, juicy and tender inside. They were not spicey or dripping in any sauce, just regular breaded and I thought "I am going to have to go to this place soon" After doing some research I found that they have drive thru only for dinner hours. So I made my trip down Broadway to Chicken King and could not miss the big yellow sign nor the already 7 cars in the drive thru. Since this chicken has a otremendous fan base, I considered myself lucky to be #8 in line as others pulled behind me. The menu is packed full of items, so my first tip is to look up the menu online before you go...less pressure once you arrive...lol I ordered the 8 PC box (regular) for my husband, 3 PC tenders (that comes with 3 potato wedges) for myself and a medium peach cobbler to share. I was very disappointed that the tenders were not fresh nor freshly breaded. They were pressed and glued white meat formed into a tender. I actually only ate one, shared one with my dog and threw the last one away. The potato wedges were the star. I should have ordered more of those. My husband, who LOVES fried chicken was not impressed. He said KFC and Golden Corral has better. The peach cobbler was average. So, I am sorry to summarize our experience as not having a reason to return.

We chose the main floor bar because there were less people and we were helped right away. We got a couple drinks each and all were pretty good- no watered down drinks here! My favorite was the espresso martini. We also opted for the Doritos nachos which were pretty filling for an appetizer! The menu states it's for 3-4 people, but it was a good serving for just the two of us. It had Doritos, cheese, pickled onions, lime, jalapeños, and a mixture of beans and it was delicious. We overall spent about $70.

It has a cozy, charming atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with friends. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. It took a long time for us to be greeted, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. It was just my friend and me along with a larger group of about 10 people. One thing that made it confusing was that the employees didn't seem to have consistent uniforms, so it was difficult to tell who actually worked there. Our server was friendly, but he kept forgetting items we requested and took a long time to return to our table. I used to be a server myself, so I understand that things happen and I try to give people grace. However, the pace of service felt excessive considering how few tables were occupied. The food was okay overall, but I actually thought my meal tasted better after reheating the leftovers at home. My friend also noticed that part of her chicken looked undercooked, which was concerning. We didn't feel confident about that portion of the meal. The biggest downside for me was the pricing. For the portion sizes, food quality, and overall experience, it felt overpriced. I can definitely see why people like the atmosphere because it's a cute spot, but between the slow service, the concerns with the food, and the prices, my visit didn't live up to my expectations. I'm hoping this was just an off day because the restaurant has a lot of potential.
