they let me leave the shop with only 4 out of 5 lugnuts on my tire, and they lost two of my locking lugnuts and refused to give them back. and didn't even let me know. Jo, the manager, is the biggest bitch I've ever come across. she wouldn't even acknowledge any wrong doing or apologize for their mistake. I was just listening and she said "don't give me that attitude, and you WILL listen to me." for an old woman, she should know better customer service skills, but maybe she needs a few more years to figure that out. Absolutely horrible customer service. And they tried to charge me $510 for brake pads that cost $62 at a local auto shop. Terrible! 0/5 stars. Do not recommend. read more

Traveling from Vermont to South Carolina and had sudden brake issues, grinding and fearful to continue on for 8 more hours. Stopped in on a Monday morning and Aaron was more than accommodating to get us in fast and brakes and rotors replaced within an hour! Very impressive and we are so appreciative. Do not go to them if you need your vehicle inspected. "Aaron" failed multiple vehicle inspections for NonSafety related issues, and mislabelled them on the checklist sheet. Examples: being "a hole in the muffler"...failed 'exhaust'. A tail light assembly was wiggly, so it failed even though the light was secure & worked properly. A cargo light was out on a pickup truck...so he failed it. A slightly bent frame rail with 15 years of ZERO negative issues...failed & mislabelled as "suspension fail". A torn CV boot leaking grease, with ZERO damage to the axle whatsoever...."requires a completely new axle since the boots only come that way". A loose tag light, which still illuminates the tag just fine....fail. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else. read more

ALMOST GOT TAKEN TO THE CLEANERS on A VA. STATE INSPECTION on 2-14-23 for $ 2200. TOOK to another inspector for a second opinion and guess what, no brake work was needed and no struts needed also. The second inspector took off the wheels and showed me how the brakes were inspected with a plastic gauge of different colors and my brakes were not in the red. Also no fluid from any of the struts was detected as was claimed by the sales person. Don't know for sure if the sales person was in on it I might suggest to the Va. state police they keep an eye on Buettner- that's a lot of $ for some people and could really hurt somebody bad, to put that much $ on a credit card read more

My son went there to have new tires put on and have his vehicle inspected. His vehicle failed the inspection as they said his power steering unit was bad and leaking. He refused the service and drove off with his failed inspection sticker. We took his vehicle to our regular guy. No leaks and nothing wrong with his vehicle. My wife took our 05 Camry here for an oil change and inspection. They told her the lug nuts were all "warped" and needed to be replaced, charged her $88.20 for an entire new set. Tires were just changed 1 month ago at another shop and they said NOTHING about lug nuts, I even watched them use a torque wrench to tighten them to mfg specs. I find it hard to believe for one second that 20 lug nuts simultaneously failed. They then failed her inspection. Technician stated that an inner tie rod needed to be replaced. Told her they could do it for $350. Also told her it needed wipers. She declined. I scraped the rejection sticker off and took to another place. Passed inspection without a problem and no mention of any problems with front end or the wipers. We felt ripped off. Wasted almost $150 and half a day and got absolutely nothing out of it. This was our second bad experience here. Last time they were supposed to rotate and balance tires but forgot to balance, then left a lug nut off and couldn't find it. Blamed my wife. Twice is a pattern, we will never take a vehicle here again. read more

This business is nothing like it used to be. I always went here to buy my tires. There used to be knowledgeable and friendly people working the counter and they knew what they were doing. The next to last set of $1100.00 tires that I bought they changed their free rotation and balance policy in the middle of the life of the tires. This last set I bought a road hazard warranty that I was told included lifetime balance and rotation. Guess what, it happened again. I got the runaround at the front counter from a woman that said that she was the manager. She went from one thing to the next telling me stuff about my tires. I have bought at least 8 sets of the BF Goodrich AT's off of them over the years and on the last two sets their policies and service changes. When you take my money on a $1100.00 set of tires and tell me something, I would take it like a handshake and think that the policy would last the life of the tires. On the next set you want to change the policy then ok. Not here. The name has changed and my guess is the old blood is gone. You don't see the familiar faces any more that were there a long time. Take the time to ask detailed questions if they fail your inspection. The possibility exists that it's something most other shops would've never bothered to look at. They never seem to inspect a vehicle that doesn't need $1,000+ in work done. They also have been caught not rotating tires when asked to do so. It's quite possible they're very knowledgeable in their field, but it's hard to walk away from this place not feeling robbed. read more

I WOULD LIKE TO WARN YOU... although I have used this shop for two years without an issue, when they had a knowledgable mechanic in house, this is my last experience.... I brought my 2014 Toyota Tacoma to have a set of 5 tires and wheels balanced, mounted, TPS sensors switched over, and aligned on December 7th. I waited over 4 hours to have my vehicle serviced with a bill of close to $300 for 4 TPS sensors serviced, 1 new TPS sensor, suspension adjustment. The shop could not perform an alignment as the tech stated that they "heated my tie rods" and "applied a lot of force" but could not get the tie rods to budge and I would need new tie rods (a common issue with tacoma's and rust). Within 2 miles of leaving the shop the TPS sensor light came on and I called the shop and left a message. I then called the shop again and spoke with their service manager Joe who stated that they "serviced my TPS sensors and it is common that when one sensor goes out other sensors often go out as well". The TPS sensor light went off after a few weeks. Later that month I had my Tacoma serviced by a reputable garage who stated that it appeared like my tie rods were not correctly adjusted on the last suspension adjustment and showed me where the threads were stripped. The garage was able to remove my tie rods with an air hammer, pb blaster, and heat however they had been damaged beyond repair. I then spoke with Buettner Tire again and informed them that my tie rods were damaged when they worked on them. Their service manager, Joe, became rather verbally aggressive stating that they did not cause damage to my vehicle. This past week I had my truck back at my reputable mechanic and my mechanic and I placed a remote reservoir coil-over suspension on the truck and rotated the tires. When we went to adjust the cam bolt on the driver side lower control arm to adjust the suspension we found that the cam bolt was bent sideways and outer tab was sheared off. Then we found that the full sized undercarriage tire I had paid to have a TPS sensor for, did not in fact have a TPS sensor, which is why the TPS sensor light had likely come on and then gone off after a few weeks. I called Buettner Tire and was transferred again to Joe. When I began to inform her of the issue she again become verbally abusive, stated "do not interrupt me", then proceeded to tell me that I was incorrect before even finishing attempting to tell them about the issues. I asked for a call back from the owner Jim Buettner after calling back the service department and have not received a call back after more than a week. Hopefully the BBB and my credit card company can help retrieve just a fraction of the cost this shop has caused me. *Posted by a local firefighter and paramedic, if this is how they treat the people trying to protect them I can only imagine how they treat other issues that arise.* read more

BUYER BEWARE! Took my 2016 Jeep in for an inspection. Failed my inspection and told me I had a bad time rod and it would be only $300 for a quick fix. Thankfully I declined. Took my vehicle to 2 other independent certified mechanics only to find out it was a scam. My toe rods were in great shape! Last time I go to Buettner. Last year I got tires that nearly caused me to have an accident and after two months I still had to pay half cost of the defective tires to get them replaced. Had car inspected also and they called me to say it was ready and when I had someone drop me off to pick it up they said it needed wipers and that there was several people ahead of me. This mind you after they called me. To top that off the wipers they put on squeak and squeal and I had to replace them. Now I go in for an oil change and despite the fact that the car requires synthetic oil and the oil cap EVEN SAYS TO USE SYNTHETIC OIL the brilliant mechanic uses regular oil. Purchased a used pickup truck a few days ago. Took my truck in for tire mount and balance (i provided the tires) and state inspection. Failes my truck for a bad driverside lower ball joint and cracked rear brake shoes. I take my truck home check the service recordes from the previous owner and they had just replaced all front end suspension parts ( ball joints and tie rods) 10k miles ago. I jacked the truck up myself and checked everything and EVERYTHING IS TIGHT. Im a mechanic by trade and do all my work on my own vehicles so im not a moron. Also cv axles are brand new the truck is filthy with mud and the only thing clean is the new suspension parts. If you can't say that's sheisty then idk what is. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY THEY WILL BEND YOU OVER. Im taking my truck to another shop tomorrow ill update this review when i get a Pass inspection just to show how bad this place is. When i asked how bad it was the punk little "mechanic" whose most likely not even certified and look like he was stoned out of his head tells me ohhh its pretty bad.... nothin more, nothin less. RANT OVER!! Update: Just got my truck inspected and guess what the technician called me into the bay and asked me which ball joint was supposedly bad. I told him lower drivers side he lifted the truck and couldnt get the ball joint to budge at all... again DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE FISHING FOR WORK. Its sad you have to go through things like this...if i was someone who didnt know anything about cars they would have gotten me for repairs that were not necessary. Hate to be THAT person but here I go.....You try to do the right thing and support a local business...Made a huge mistake trusting BUTTNER TIRE!!! Got new tires on my vehicle ~ could have gone elsewhere and gotten them cheaper but decided to go with the local guy!!! Left the establishment didn't even go a mile and tire flew off back driverside went into oncoming traffic hit an innocent hardworking lady...wrecking her work vehicle. Also, causing an accident due to my stopped vehicle WITH NO BACK TIRE!!! Funny thought when they change tires put new tires that it was a given that they would PUT ON AND TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS!!! Not Buttner Tire!!! They think they are great because they buffed out some scuffs and replaced Calibur that their negligence caused but now I have a vehicle that NO CAUSE OF OURS has a CARFAX because of them and they will give no further remedy!!!! A good place to go if your needs are simple and you know your way around cars. If not, hold onto your wallet. I took my Civic there to get four tires mounted and balanced and get an alignment. The old tires were worn equally, I just believe an alignment makes sense when replacing a full set. No problem with the mount and balance, but they tried to tell me that the rear alignment was "out of spec" and they couldn't get it right without a set of camber arms. They then helpfully suggested that they could install said arms for $650! Firstly, no stock height Civic in the history of man has EVER needed camber arms. Second, the rear tires are worn straight, level, and equal, but the rear camber is so far out that I have to have camber arms!? Third, what are these arms made of, platinum? I googled "camber arms" standing at the counter, and came up with the phone book, the most expensive set was $125 A PAIR. So I declined their offer and left. (Incidentally, I was not given the alignment print-out that shows what the result of your alignment was) Just be aware, if they judge you to be an easy mark they will try to fleece you. read more

I took my car to get an oil change and tire rotation. As I was heading back to work, the oil light was flickering when I was idle. I got to work and called and spoke to Brandon, who then drove to my office and inspected my vehicle. Turned out to be a faulty oil filter. He proceeded to change my filter in the parking lot.
