I don't know what I was expecting but was blown away when I walked in and the waiting area had gorgeous big sofa's with stylish mirrors above, the check in desk has a few items for sale including brow pencils and the shelves at the back are full of brow make up, fake tan products and different waxes. I went through to the service room and it is very comfortable and well decorated. There was a cool print of James Dean on the wall. I was diggin' the vibes. I filled in a form as a new customer which asked about redness or breakouts etc. Because of the answers I gave she chose a tea tree wax which prevents breakouts after waxing. She mentioned she stocks like 20 types of waxes as she is a waxing specialist. Not just for her recommendations but also some people have a favourite brand so she likes to stock all the best products. After a pain free wax and brow tint we had a good old chat before I left. She recommended products (in conversation not in a pushy way) on how to achieve certain looks, perfect the arch and be able to keep the look up at home. I was so impressed and the price was completely reasonable too. I don't even mind driving to Sherwood Park for the service. For a brow wax it totally exceeded my expectations!

That I should not have been upset yesterday because my hair got butchered by Madison. Maybe the manager is right I should have been thankful for the resources I won't expend in that I can use less shampoo and conditioner. Thankful that I no longer need to spend time combing my hair as it is so short. Thankful my hair won't take as long to dry now. It was driving me nuts so I booked with my regular stylist elsewhere and she said it was a bad haircut. That was $30 down the drain. I wonder if they don't screen staff? Have them do a men's and women's cut before hiring.

With the Covid outbreak almost 4 years ago, I had my nails taken off and left them off until yesterday. I started to really miss them but then had to find a new place. I tried googling Beauty Nails to find them again in the Park but nothing came up. When I found Beauty Hour in the Park, I was thinking I would give this place that I never heard of a chance but after reading the "about" on their website I was surprised and so happy to realize this was formally Beauty Nails and Dian was still the owner! I immediately made an appointment. Dian is a beautiful, sophisticated true lady who knows the nail industry like no other. Her friendliness, warmth and joyous personality is infectious. I was so happy to see her when I went for my appointment yesterday. So lovely to see you again Dian . Zita, the pretty and talented technician who I had, did a superb job on my nails. Thank you so much Zita . I have high standards and feel hard earned money should be matched with superior service. They live up to it! I told her I wanted something feminine, hair on the sides I could sweep forward, and even showed her a past photo of when my bangs had been butchered (I told her I feel anxious every time I come to the salon because of awful cuts I've received like it) and she went ahead and cut them too short anyway saying that we would start with that and could always cut them shorter if I wanted. I showed her photos of what I thought was feminine vs young and funky. I did NOT get feminine. (I'm also 50!) I asked that my highlights not be spikey, I showed her a photo with more chunks, but was given spikey - and a copper colour, not the auburn I asked for. I returned a few days later to ask her to shave the sides and back one shorter so there was contrast between the top and sides. I felt the need to talk to her about how upset I was. While talking I told her that I was very disappointed with my cut and that it wasn't what I asked for. She agreed with me that 1) my head was an odd shape now with this cut 2) that it was NOT going to grow out nicely (another thing I told her was important to me and after two weeks it is already sprouting up in odd spots), 3) to keep my cowlick in mind (big hole there now that she agreed was hard to deal with) and 4) I should probably see a barber next time instead of going to a salon because they would be more qualified with a cut like this. With tip (that I absolutely regret paying) I paid over $250 for this. She seemed nervous during the cut, she didn't show me the sides or back with a mirror so I didn't realize how bad it was until I got home, and when you go to pay and the guy at the counter can't muster up a "you look great!" (despite what he thinks), it makes you feel awful. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning. She couldn't even offer the slightest apology.
