The Good Ole Buffalo Exchange! A great mix of new and slightly used clothing from all walks of life. My first visit was the La Brea location almost ten years ago. At the time the idea of selling your clothes for store credit or cash was new. Now I am glad there is a location that is close to me. The ladies at the Fullerton location are as sweet as they are nice. Each one of them as there own unique style. If your looking to sell, be sure to call ahead and ask "what are you looking for" That will save you tons of time when selling. And of course what does not sell, they donate to shelters. I've been to this location quite a few times, and I've always been happy with what I've found. This last time I went, a few Saturdays ago, just happened to be their Back to School sale. Yay, you might think. Until you walk in and see that the checkout line reaches all the way to the back of the store. But, while I was in line, one of the employees handed me a $5 off coupon, and I had a friend to chat with in line, so I wasn't too anxious. When I finally got to the register, a very cute girl with glasses (didn't see a nametag?) asked me if I had a school ID, which would have given me an additional discount. When I said I didn't, she handed me a flyer and said, "That's okay, because you brought this flyer." She was very sweet, and was very helpful. Overall, it's a great store with moderately priced clothing and helpful staff. I'd go there again any day. I've found some pretty neat clothes here for a fair price. I've even sold some of my accessories to them. They donate money to a charity of your choice which is pretty cool. They are really into recycling so no bags. I suggest you bring a tote to hold your purchases. read more

This was my first time here & I loved it . The reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because of the selection . There was not a lot of selection in clothing , I believe there were only about 4 racks of clothes for woman an opposed to the other Platos I've been to ! That have 4 racks just for tops , or 4 racks just for jackets. But I did manage to find a cute outfit ! I found a top shop shirt for 7 bucks (50% off) & some pants that went with it for 9! Always came here after a nice lil brunch at Tranquil Tea Lounge. The space isn't that big but it's packed with clothes and people trying to sell clothes. Great selection in clothing. Very, very little on accessories, handbags and shoes. Very spacious dressing rooms which I like. The only warning I have is check and make sure that the item is in good shape. My boyfriend was going to buy a plaid shirt and I noticed a HUGE stain on it. It looked like they used it to clean oil. Other than that, great used clothing store. read more

Personal experience- Everytime I bring a bundle of clothes they take one or two pieces. I noticed they take all of my zara clothings. I have often brought forever21 and h&m's but ended up giving to charity instead. I think this is a shop that has thrifty unique finds. As long as your piece of clothing is unique, they'll take it. Also they have seasons like right now they are looking at contemporary styles. I can't say the prices for the finds are competitive though. Customer service has been mediocre as well. read more

I haven't been here in a long time, and had only been to the location in Costa Mesa. I definitely love the Fullerton store more---its much bigger and has a lot of selection. I really came to look, not thinking I would find anything, but had found some great deals! I got a super cute vintage shirt for $5 dollars, and a really pretty yellow silk shirt from Forever21 for $9. I was super thrilled with my finds! I definitely think that their selection of dresses and tank tops were the best. They also seemed to have a good amount of accessories. Shoes were ok, but of course everything changes from time to time. I like the dressing rooms as well, they have a lot and they are actually clean! The people working there were super friendly and helpful as well, and I had a good conversation with the girl who rang me out. I am definitely coming back to sell clothes and use as a credit to buy clothes at the store. This is such a good option since times are really tough right now. This seems to be a great location for guys. I'm here often because my boyfriend loves this place so much. We make the drive to Fullerton often even if we're closest to the LA location on La Brea. I'm slightly jealous that my boyfriend walks away with items he usually passes up on at the mall, but walks into Buffalo Exchange with items he's been coveting and snags them for more than 50% off retail here. He always seems to find some great items like: +Supra sneakers under $40 in great condition on more than one occasion +Obey and WeSC dress shirts +Quality, fashionable denim for guys who don't prefer skinny fits I've sold some stuff and the buyers have been reasonable-- I get why they don't take my items and I won't criticize why they bought other peoples' stuff (Maybe except on the one occasion I bought a pair of shoes that were different sizes, but didn't notice until I took it home and walked around in them. I'm glad returning them was easy.) I'm glad Halloween season is over because shopping is fun again at Buffalo Exchange and the place has tidied up a bit. read more

I enjoy used clothes, saving money, and thrift store shopping, especially when the price is right :-) I was hoping this place was cheaper than American Vintage and that it would be on par to other similar places I go to, but once again... Too pricey for me (maybe cause I've seen some of the exact same things they sell somewhere else for cheaper). It was unfortunate that I didn't find anything in here, even though they had quite a collection.. hate that feeling... This place seems to be more of a hipster (used or sometimes "new") clothing place, but probably cause I happened to go when all the hipsters were out.. haha. You know, I've never had a problem with these kinds of stores and I probably won't start since I had a pretty good experience here. I didn't buy anything since I was with a friend, but I did find some gems that would make me want to come back here. I do have a lot of clothes that I do not use. With t-shirts a plenty, I will have to find out how these exchange policies work, but I can pretty much guess that part. But that is only one fraction of what makes this store. The other parts of it are the clothes they have. They don't just sell t-shirts, they sell long-sleeve, jackets, sweaters, dresses, blouses, shoes, hats, sunglasses, and more and of course all at bargain discount prices. If it were possible to put zero stars I would. The people there are very unwelcoming and patronizing. I was trying to make some extra cash and I have a lot of clothes I needed to get rid of so I decided to sell some of my clothes. I looked on their website and it said they needed a lot of fall/winter essentials, I made sure to bring lots of jackets,sweaters, and bottoms. Once I went up to the counter the woman who was checking my clothing was very rude and unwelcoming. After spending 15 mins looking through my clothes, she only wanted a T-shirt and was only going to give me $3 dollars for it. I've done my fair share of thrift shopping, and Fullerton is definitely not the place to go if you're looking for a deal. This is place is full of recycled Forever 21. The prices aren't that much different from F21 prices too, and it's even worse because the clothes are already worn...so what's the upside? I spotted a pair of cute American Apparel shoes on sale for half-off. Of course I had to get them! Oh wait, they were actually full-price, explained the hipster working at the counter. Wtf? I shop here every couple of months and always walk away with something I love. I get a lot of compliments on the clothes I have gotten from Buffalo Exchange. I have a Calvin Klein dress (22 dollars), 2 Banana Republic dresses (18-24 dollars), an old green Dooney & Burke duck bag, and a few other dresses, blouses, skirts, and t-shirts. The shopping experience can be hit or miss, it can be hard to find something I like, but once I find one, the pace picks up and I start picking up 5 more things. The staff is sometimes very helpful, setting aside my stuff for the fitting room, but as of lately seems has been less so. They no longer offer come up to me and offer to hold my clothes for the fitting room aside so I can continue shopping. They weren't very busy, but the staff didn't seem to be taking any initiative. Though they are quite friendly when they do interact with you. I usually go to a fitting room with 8-10 things and only end up buying one. read more

It's been nearly a year since I had my disappointing experience. As fate would have it, I did another purging of my closet and had a slew of shirts to be rid of. This Fullerton location may not be the closest to where I live, but it is the most convenient for me to visit. This time, however, it was a much more pleasant experience. There was an in-house DJ blasting music (a bit too zealously) for the Fullerton Art Walk, which certainly added a lively feel to the place. The all-female staff were very friendly and charming this time around, and they were also a lot more generous about their pickings. (When I was browsing the men's shirts, I even noticed some Target brands.) I think about four of my dress shirts were accepted for $26 in store credit. That's pretty good. I think the girl behind the counter said it would've been something like $17 in cash. Not sure how that works since I thought cash was always half, but it sounds good to me. I ended up buying a Buffalo Exchange brand shirt (didn't know they had their own brand) which the $26 store credit paid for. My only criticism is that the selection of men's clothing is very limited. There were only two racks for non t-shirts (and, realistically, you'd only browse one of those racks when shopping for your size). Women, on the other hand, should have no problem. Since this recent experience greatly contrasted my previous experience, I feel it's simply the luck of the draw. I suppose that's true for most places. read more

I really like this location! It's in a super cute part of town, it was fairly easy to find, and there was plenty of parking nearby that you did not have to pay for which isn't true of a lot of Buffalo Exchange stores. The location was clean, neat, and spacious compared to the others one I've been to where there hardly seems to be any room to move. I only came here to sell, and things were a bit hectic because at the time there was only one person doing both the cash register and selling part, so he went to do the register and the manager came over to take care of my selling. She was very nice and felt welcomed, but wasn't sure if she was going to take any of my stuff. The one at Coasta Mesa is a hit and miss, especially when they have someone else to judge with them because I feel one girl likes an item but then her co-worker tells her not to buy it (at that location). However, the manager ended up taking two tanks from me and I was happy to make some cash back. While I did not really look around, there was some cute items I randomly did see and I would go back if I was any closer! read more

Just went in and very unsatisfied. Another reviewer had stated it they really don't look through your things cuz I was pretty sure some of my stuff looks like the stuff they had up there. Everyone's got really old hats on and there's no color culture in that place. I think this place is very particular Maybe by from their friends only. Came here after the receiving too much sass from the Costa Mesa location. For both selling and shopping this store is a much better spot. Their buyers are brand whores so as always, anything with a label is more likely to get taken, but they are also more willing to take a chance on more vintage and funky one-of-a-kind items - which is another reason shopping here is more of a treat. When selling, check their website or call ahead for what items they are taking at that time because, as with any retail store, they are always ahead of the season (start selling tanks and shorts in january, jackets in october) but this will help more of your items be bought. Customer service is better here but not excellent. Still some attitude but the main manager is knowledgable and impartial and always friendly. The store is much more spacious and for the most part organized and tidy. As all Buffalos stuff is still overpriced, and you have to dig through a lot of meh to find the good stuff, but overall not bad. read more

I took some clothes and shoes to sell, and there was a long line so I was looking around while waiting and saw nothing impressive. Faded old t-shirts and frumpy styles. But when they "looked" through my clothes they said they won't take any of it because they were looking for a specific style. Considering that the site said they were looking for summer clothes, and that's what I brought in, I was surprised they didn't take anything but a pair of sneakers, an ugly costume necklace. we are at thrift store and boutique with vintage pieces I went into the store with the same thing that they had in there different patterns brand new with tags I researched what they buy and because I have a lot of it I made sure I chose pieces. the guy wouldn't even look at all of them and said no I'm going to have to hand those back he may be looked at two pieces out of the 20 I took in there. I have some examples. the other lady was so rude she just left us stand in there. I done my research first as I did not want to waste my time I went into the store I looked around. then I ask questions I seen some of the pieces that they had were the exact ones that I have with a different pattern I asked one nice sales guy that work there I said I have this in a different pattern he said that's awesome I seen the shirt I said hey I have that in a dress he said please bring it in if you look at all the clothes I have in the picture you cannot tell me that that's not the clothing they buy. for some reason this guy did not want to take my stuff. once again brand new with tags. Definitely a cool store to hit up however they can do some things better. Positive: Their selection borders sometime on amazing considering the stuff they take in. Lower end trendy mall labels to upper end high designer fashion at great prices. They take in everything from jackets to sunglasses and new stuff is added every hour. Their pricing can fluxuate depending on not only the quality of the item but its "trendiness" and brand name. Great service staff who are friendly as well! Negative: the store is has one of the least shopper friendly environments ive ever been in. Dimly lit, with clothes not racked by the right size. The line of people to sell (which can grow to extreme lengths on the weekends) crowds the store and sometimes make it IMPOSSIBLE to search through racks, especially the jean rack because people are lined up against it. Sometimes they seem to have enough staff, other days there is one person trying to help 30 people. All in all, its a great store with amazing finds but you have to be prepared to stay awhile, put up with a crowd and hunt for the good stuff. read more

What is happening here ???? Why has the quality of clothing gone down and the prices have gone up! I was shocked to find shirts priced 15$+ I came in to sell my clothes today and the girl who was helping me priced every piece 25$+ I was honestly thinking like wow the prices here have definitely gone up .. some of the clothing that I was going through had rips and tears and some leggings had those little peely balls from the dryer and were priced at 19$ came across some pretty cool vintage looking Levi jeans and I was about to try them on when the inside of the pants had a period stain in the crotch but wasn't so visible from the outside but the inside it was noticeable .. clothes need to be inspected better and fairly priced honestly I think it depends on who's looking at the clothing but this girl was just blowing my mind with the prices she was tagging my clothes with a track suit set 27$ for the jacket and another 25$ for the pants ? .. seemed a bit excessive you know ? I guess it's a hit or miss with buffalo exchange but I don't see myself coming back for a while .. sad. read more

This place is a love/hate place 4 me. I've sold some items here a few times 4 the pass 2yrs. I'll break it down 2 selling & buying. As 4 selling I've called a few times before I go in just so I know what they're looking 4. On 1 occasion I was told they were wanting crop tops which was awesome because I literally had plenty 2 get rid of. I went in & literally sold none. On another occasion they said they started taking jewelry & hair accessories so again I took all that I had & sold nothing. It was very disappointing 2 go in with so much & selling nothing. I feel like these girls they have are so picky & so blinded on what 2 buy because they obviously can't tell what can or will sell. I'll explain on the buying part. As 4 the buying, I seriously can say the items they do want 2 sell is so boring & worn out. I can't even count on how many times I've wanted a top but couldn't buy it because it looked so used. This place says they buy semi new/used clothes so tell me why do I always see worn out tops on their racks. The tops they do pick out from sellers, you can easily go 2 H&M & buy it at a lower price & brand new! Lol seriously though. Every time I go in I feel like I'm at a wannabe H&M. The only thing I can say that I do like sometimes is their handbags. It's literally all I ever get since most of the time they are brand new/semi used. Btw the items I usually bring in are either brand new or used barely a few times but yet they get rejected 4 a white t-shirt that's been used & abused with lint balls all of it. I sold most of my clothes at DeeLux in Clairemont and got 129$ and 184$ in store credit so I brought in the left overs. I made 22$ in cash here or 41$ for store credit; i opted for sc. They are extremely picky for their clothes I saw some girls come in with 3-5 bags just to get like 20ish bucks. I honestly wanted to buy some of their items that were in those bags. I went with my husband while he sold some items. It took 40 minutes of waiting in line and hearing the buyer talking to all the people about random stuff. It seems kind of counter productive to be talking as you are supposed to be concentrating on each article. She ended up buying 4 items from my husband. Then we had to wait in another line to get paid out. Standing there we browsed the racks and saw a lot of raggy items that looked worst than goodwill. The people that work there are annoying. They said "thanks for waiting" to my husband about 5 times. That's awkward, what are you supposed to say back, "I like waiting, it's ok"? That place put us in a bad mood. I wear a 14-16 and even though some of my clothes were "bohemian styled" the guy didn't buy any of my clothes. Funny since over half they USA population is a size 16. They want their store to only run some sizes. I glanced around and they didn't have much clothing for people who wear large through xl. so i wandered into buffalo last night - a gal with an hour to kill (waiting for a friend) and a brand spankin new wad of cash in her bank account thanks to the federal gov. there is NO reason i should walk out empty handed. right? right? well i did. absolutely NOTHING interesting in this store. i'm not for buying 2nd hand/vintage items, but i'm all for selling my items to buffalo exchange for my new/pre-owned items to be purchased and adopted by loving new owners. buffalo's exchange is a great place to sell back hard-earned items your wallets dieeddd for. i was able to sell back zara shoes, clothes, urban outfitter pieces, accessories, and even some better forever 21 pieces. granted i paid wayyy more than what i got back, but it's definitely worth a try to haul your items down to buffalo's before you decide to lower your pre-owned items' values even further to the salvation army. you wouldn't want your outdated yet precious items to be devalued too much, right?! try buffalo. p.s. this is one of the neater buffalo i've been in, everything was well organized and neatly hung. no 2nd hand craziness overload. read more

Honestly coming here is always such a waist of time. When selling; I call ahead of time to see what they are buying and if I bring anything in it has tags on it, looks brand new, is in style and trendy. And what do I hear "these are brands we always get" "we're looking for dark jeans not light jeans" or "you're stuff is really cute but it's not my style" not your style??? What about the stores style?? Or someone else's?? There used to be a thrift store across the street that I could walk out of buffalo exchange, go to, and they'd buy everything buffalo wouldn't. The staff seemed really nice to me but they gave off a fake vibe. I felt uncomfortable. I brang in 4 bags of "trendy" clothing and I would have gotten $19 for cash and $32 for a trade in. I couldn't even get 3 clothing items without paying 8 extra dollars with the 32 dollars I traded in. The clothes there were nice but overpriced, I'm pretty dissapointed because I had my hopes high for this place but it failed to impress. They also told me to go look around while they picked out my items so who knows if they actually gave me the correct amount for my clothes. The thing people have to understand about buffalo and the prices they offer to the items they take is that this is a business, and they are in it to make profit. Yeah you could make a little more selling online, or maybe in a local yard sale, but are you going to take time to do that? No. So quit complaining and be grateful that someone actually wants your old shit that's just been lying around your house collecting cat hair. Now, the thing that gets me about people's negative reviews is how they expect Buffaloes employees to buy everything they bring. Have you seen how stuffed the store is!? They don't need your Hollister polo from 2012. They want your name brand 3-6 month old hot selling items that are lightly used. So if you're bringing in a shoe box of three pit stained aero T shirts and are expecting yourself to have 100% buy in, take your crummy box that probably smells like the only nirvana song you know and old Chinese food, and kick rocks. Protip; When I go In and make $100-200 it's because I've brought in 6 containers full or relevant hardly used clothing. I also dont expect them to buy anything, so I'm always left happy even if they only buy one shirt. The girls here are incredible, kind, nice and so fun to talk to, just bring your personality with you cause most of these reviewers sound as fun as a wet piece of cardboard.
