I never have much luck here and I suspect it's mostly because what they look for when they buy clothes is very specific. I tried to sell clothes here and despite bags full of hardly worn h&m garments and vintage pieces that no longer fit, I left with an eight dollar credit and 10 dollars in cash. However, the staff explained to me previously that they have criteria for what they buy and I understand that (they were very nice despite a very busy store and a line of people waiting to sell clothes). But I feel like this criteria idefinitely makes Buffalo Exchange more of a hip second hand store than one with variety. A lot of the pieces just feel dated or trendy to me. I would rather they have a more diverse selection but perhaps that's me. I prefer Goodwill. But I will say I have bought a few cool things here, some sweet nude pink bowling style shoes with cute detailing and a feminine flair, and a super flattering black and white bubble dress, $14, and $10 respectively. But a lot of the other dresses were in the $30-40 range and I'm sorry, Buffalo Exchange, but I will never pay $40 for a second hand dress. read more

Walked in, felt like i was being extremely judged and stared at. Within 3 workers only one person was handling the selling/ exchanging of clothing etc. There was 5 people ahead of me in line and they were moving very slowly probably would've taken about 5 hrs before i would get the chance to exchange/sell. The other 2 workers behind the desk excluding the one that was handling exchanges, one was playing with buttons while the other one was dressing a mannequin for maybe 45 minutes. overall not a good experience never going back to this particular one. read more

I hate this place! Today I came to sell my clothes and they accept only ring! I brought some new clothes with tags along with Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren and they didn't take anything. When the girl turned down my almost brand new classy coat for men I asked her what kind of style are you looking and she said trendy and up to date clothes in very good conditions. Really? Gort me none of the buyers were trendy and stylish I would say their style like homeless style! When I went to see what they have inside I was terrified to see what kind of clothes and what conditions on the hungers. But whatever! I think culture of the store the weirder- the better. I recommend shopping here often (if you are under 30 or so because the styles are pretty young.) Unlike goodwill the selection is more curated and you can trust what you're buying won't have a stain or rip (unless it's supposed to.) A welcome addition to any neighborhood, in this shopper's opinion, is a consignment/used clothing/vintage shop, as opposed to another cookie-cutter operation like the Gap (low price)/Jasmine Sola (mid-price)/Tannery (outrageous). Although this isn't a locally based company, Buffalo Exchange fits nicely into the Davis aesthetic. The vibe here is just a step above the Goodwill down the street. Very plain, no-nonsense racks lining the wall, with a few circular racks placed throughout the floor. Belts, hats and jewelry hang from plain metal hooks and stands, while more hats, bags and shoes sit just above eye level on wooden shelving. The warehouse styling certainly isn't what you'd call charming. But then again, can't looks be deceiving? Yes, they can. Consider the gas station on Cambridge Street that houses some of the best burritos I've ever had in my life. Here, it's not so clear. From the outside and a brief glance around on the inside, Buffalo Exchange does not look to be anything apart from your basic thrift shop. Upon closer examination, the lines blurs. A lot of the items are Ann Taylor, Anne Klein, Target, Gap, and other current labels/stores/brands that aren't what I'd consider fashionable. Mingled in are items that look pretty worn, pretty out-of-style and pretty hand-me-down. A massive amount of sifting is necessary. After a few visits, I finally walked out with some purchases today: a light, long and gauzy, short-sleeved, striped sweater in peach and white ($7) and a gray/silver belted button-up sleeveless dress with a high ruffled collar and pockets at the hips ($14). Stellar finds, especially for the price but it took some hunting to get my hands on them. Buffalo exchange houses lots of cheap dresses, skirts, button-down work shirts, denim and t-shirts. The selection is mostly modern styles which are lightly used and sold for a discount. The jewelry, belt and hat selection are really not worth the look, but the shoe selection may hold more promise. Again, modern styles prevail (Jessica Simpson and Steven or Steve Madden), but most pairs are in good condition (save for one I found missed the rubber stoppers on the heels) and the size range varies from 6-10, with a good amount of styles in each size. If you're a dedicated vintage shopper, this is probably not the place for you. If you can survive leaving empty-handed most of the time, banking on those few good gems that you dig out, then Buffalo Exchange is your store! read more

This place is always fun. I usually end up here after getting off the T, having a mega beer at Mike's, and then sort of drunkenly wanting to play dress up. But in all seriousness, they do have some cool stuff here from time to time; however, as with any secondhand clothing store, it requires some time and patience to find those gems. I'm not one for buying other people's old shoes, but they do have some really sweet kicks here. This place is awesome. As a lot of other people have mentioned, they are super picky about what clothes they'll buy, and there's almost always a long line of people wanting to sell. However, the result of their hyper-selective purchasing process is an inventory of consistently cute, on-trend, unblemished clothes. The other day I walked out with three adorable skirts for under $20 bucks. ...I mean, come on, that's basically free. If you're looking to sell, try and bring in items that work for the current season (ie, no coats in July, no tube tops... ever, preferably). I really wanted to try the store credit, but there was nothing I wanted, so I of course took the cash. In two days of selling, I made $80 selling a few things (less than 10 items total) at Somerville and Allston locations. What's funny is that what one location may not take, the other just might. I experienced this with some Tory Burch flats. First, I couldn't believe the Allston one would not take 'em. So, I politely shuffled down to Davis Square and they were taken off my hands. I don't understand it, but whatever. I'll say this: Prepare to be baffled. There really is no buying strategy. Take an H&M shirt, but not a Marc Jacobs top? I don't get it. Just don't get offended. Strictly buyer perspective: I came to visit boston, and decided to walk around Brookline and Alston. Reading the reviews for this Buffalo, I was a bit nervous as to the cleanliness, staff, and pricepoint. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by friendly staff. As I perused the aisles and shelves, I found that almost all of the merchandise was barely worn, and in relatively great condition. Hailing from Cali, I would say I find more "distressed" items at my local buffalo. However, I will say price point is HIGHER than my average Cali Buffalo, which was surprising. The price hike is only a few dollars higher, but was enough to deter me from buying. Overall, nice experience, but prices should be lower, especially being that it's second hand clothing. read more

I saw a hideous Chanel 1970's warm-up jacket here for $11. It was hideous, but it was Chanel. Buffalo Exchange has all things vintage (which apparently includes the 80's now?!) and contemporary...shorts, tees, dresses, shoes, accessories...very well organized and reasonably priced for gently worn (or some new) clothing. Like all thrift stores, it takes some patience and dedication to your search...but in the end there are plenty of fashionista treasures to be found. read more

I've been to three of the Buffalo Exchange locations in New York and Mass, and I love this store. I've bought some great pairs of jeans, scarves, and dresses here on the cheap. They seem to have a great understanding of their clientele's overall style(s). Not getting five stars though because of the selling process. I've brought in a whole trash bag of clothes from NY&Co, JCrew, Gap, and Old Navy and the only thing they bought back was a pair of jeans, that I had bought a year ago at another Buffalo! Notice that most of the negative reviews are from people trying to sell clothes... not sure if that is the most accurate representation of the store! As a shopper, I liked the selection here. My go-to item at any kind of secondhand store is sweaters since they usually last a long time. I ended up getting 2 sweaters for about $20 each. Obviously, that's more than I would pay at Goodwill, but I didn't have to dig through tons of crap either, and it's still less than I would pay for new clothes. Purpose = served! The buyers definitely seem to gravitate to the same brands (J Crew, Gap, some more 'hipster' names that I didn't recognize but kept seeing again and again) but that's not necessarily a bad thing--there's still a greater variety than you would find if you went to a specific store! My only warning is to bring a bag because they are a "bag free store" or something like that. I would rather have the option to buy a bag for $0.50 or so; as a first-time customer I was blindsided and had to carry my clothes around in my arms for the rest of the day. I visited a few thrift stores as my first thrist-store-experience. Buffalo Exchange definitely came first on my list because I heard a lot of great things about them. I sold my clothes here and the girl was very pleasant and attentive. She was not too picky which was great because I would have had to carry the unwanted clothing with me on a walk to Newbury. My total came to $100 which for store credit, I could spend 50% or in cash, I could keep 30%. Unlike other thrift stores, Buffalo Exchange did not have an awful smell. It was well organized and not over stuffed. This thrift store is going to become an instant favorite of Boston. It's true though, I picked up a jacket with a terrible odor. That stopped me from buying it. read more

For 20-year-olds, by 20-year-olds. If you over the age of 27, don't expect to be able to find or sell anything here. That being said, it's still a great concept: the set up -- allowing customers to bring in clothes to sell for immediate cash and no appointment -- encourages people to clean their closets and recycle clothes. And the shop is organized, clean and well lit. The sales people are also very sweet and professional. However, they seem to stock only merchandise from the staple suburban mall box stores - no vintage, no designer, no unique boutique pieces (my favorite). It reminds me of my high school-aged cousins who have competitions about how many Abecrombie and Finch outfits they can accumulate. I'm assuming this mentality may also exist among Tufts undergraduate students, which would be only reason how this place can stay in business. They are pretty clear that the focus is "trendy" - rather than stylish - and state that they will only buy clothes if they were purchased within the year. Of course, this doesn't make any sense to me - if you sell something you bought that year - wouldn't you sell it at least after the season is over? So the next person couldn't wear it until the follow season - which, given the store's focus on trendy, would be at of style? Ah, who knows - I've never been a huge fan of items that scream things like "I was bought at the Gap in 2010!" But I am a fan of recycling and seeing clothes get a second life. When I used to live down the street from here, I would come in weekly. You never know what you might find (and it's improved the selection of the nearby goodwill tremendously!). It takes some digging to come up with quality pieces hanging among the H&M and generally low quality new pieces brought in, but that's the fun! I've had luck with pants from J.Brand and Madewell, like-new tees, and my favorite necklace of all time, a cast bird skull. The staff has a keen eye for vintage as well and I've come home with everything from wool capes to kiss lock pouches to kitsch-y scarves. I've also sold a lot of pieces here. I worked at a used clothing store in college and am impressed with the brand and market awareness training of the staff. Just because something is new doesn't mean it's going to sell. Just because something is vintage doesn't mean they will buy it. The state dictates the amount stores can give you and frankly I like the cash on the spot versus waiting for commission checks from other places. They buy for the masses and have to price to sell. If you don't like the inventory, come back in a few weeks (and don't forget to bring a bag, as they don't give out plastic ones anymore)! read more

Total hit or miss on trying to consign here. I came in a few months back with some clothes, and they took everything and gave me almost $100 cash for them. Since then I have come in several times and have been completely rejected on every item, those items being of the same quality and branding. Why? I would say it simply depends on who is looking over your stuff. The girl who looked over my clothes the second and third time was so incredibly picky, pushing back a pile of expensive jackets and other, what I and most other people would consider, perfectly good clothes. I regret leaving my clothes in their donation bin, I would much rather have conducted an experiment by bringing them back a week or so later and have them looked at by a second employee. Can guarantee that the results would vary wildly. Glad I didn't get the picky girl the first time I came in, I'd probably be out $100. I FREAKING LOVE this store. I walked in with my dog (which is important to me) and spent the next hour oogling jeans. I was just crying to the boy the night before how all my denim is ripping, and I can't see spending another $200 on jeans. WELL let me tell you what! I got 2 pair of DKNY jeans for a combined total of... wait for it... $28. I also got a great pair of silver ballet slippers, and a brand new chocolate (just in time for fall) Kate Spade bag. I like this place. With a little patience and a touch of luck you can snag some awesome deals. Things I have purchased from Buffalo Exchange that I am particularly proud of: 1) Aqua Marine Leather Coach wallet, appears brand new: $22 2) Hot Pink, quilted Vera Bradley wallet, tags still on it: $15 3) Black with a hispster approved print Theory Blazer with Tags still attached: $30 4) Floral Boden dress with lining: $25 5) Various bedazzled, beaded, baubles: $2-$10 Everything at Buffalo Exchange appears to be high quality. Nothing smells or looks like anything your grandma from Malden would wear. The most popular brands appear to be The Gap, the Loft, Ann Taylor, H&M, Anthropologie stuff, and Nordstom Rack rejects. Staff are friendly, prices range from fair to great! They stock both men and women clothimg. At first glace, you might leave thinking Buffalo only sell clothes suitable for Bonnaroo - but fear not - there is formal clothes to be had - within the racks. Tips: 1) You can find some great accessories in what I have deemed "the reject chest." Said chest is located near the front of the stairs, in front of the accessory wall. It contains half off jewelry, hats, scarfs, belts, tights, bags and wallets. There was a brand new Vera Bradley satchel in there today for only $10. 2) Befriend the staff - sometimes they will let you rummage through the new offerings before they hit the store. 3) The glass case contains "high end" accessories - but that doesn't mean they are expensive. That brand new Kate Spade wallet can be yours for less than $30. 3) The "changing rooms" have sheets for doors. Not for the faint of heart or the body shy. read more

Everyone in this world has at least one innate ability to do something REALLY well. For a long time in life (about 25 years long), I didn't really know if I had that natural talent for something. But hallelujah, I saw the light and now I know a good effing thrift store when I see one. A few standards apply, and Buffalo Exchange in Davis Sq. has met all the criteria for an exceptional thrift store: 1. Good lighting - You can see all the clothes and defects (applicable only on some pieces) because the lighting is bright and NOT deceptive. 2. Organization- The store is actually organized by size and clothing type. I.e. jackets on the wall, sweaters seperated in S,M,L, dresses downstairs etc. 3. Fitting rooms- They're downstairs and they actually look as clean as a fitting room, say, at the Banana Republic in Fenuil Hall. And there are LOTS. 4. Happy employees- This isn't your run-of-the-mill thrift store with employees barely making it in the world. Don't get me wrong, I have more respect for someone working at the Goodwill than your average CEO at an investing firm. It's a tough job! But the people that work at this Buffalo Exchange know fashion. They have to because they're in charge of screening the clothes that people donate! (more on this later) 5. Cleanliness (is to Godliness!)- The most important (but not necessary) factor in a grade A thrift store is the cleanliness. This place can be easily mistaken for a real store if someone just took a quick glance in from the outside. Even the display mannequins are dressed in style! 6. Pricing- The prices put on the clothes are actually decent. Like I said, it's not as cheap is a Goodwill, but since they screen all of the clothes that come in, you know you're buying clothes that are washed and in decent condition. So you're paying from $2- $12 for a nice (many times designer) shirt/sweater and $6-$35 for nice boots/shoes/sandals. Bags, dresses, guys cloths, everything else also exisist at good prices. It's safe to say that they're not ripping you off just because things are "vintage". This is like shopping in your best friends' closets and not feeling bad that you're paying really little for an item they paid A LOT for. If you like thrift stores, this place is a gem. read more

I've been here before and the "buyer" took a bunch of beautiful tops, this time though was different the buyer looked at all 5 of my bags filled with basically brand new clothing and didn't take a single thing. I'm not sure if she was holding a grudge against me because I was waiting at the door before they opened at 12 for five minutes but she literally stuck her nose up to a brand new pair of Michael Kors pants a Valentino satin scarf and North-face zip up in perfect condition. And her reason was "people want to buy items that they haven't seen before" .. I don't get their policy and the only thing this so called buyer was contemplating purchasing was a used Dominos collar top. Like wtf kind of thrift store is this lol never again will I waste my time going here, I would rather sell online then deal with this hassle again. Staff was pretty rude as well. I will always love Buffalo Exchange. No matter which city I go to (San Diego, LA, New York City, Boston) they always have all kinds of clothes I like for great prices. My only complaint about the Buffalo exchange in Boston, is they seem to have much higher prices on everything. Generally in San Diego there are a good selection of nice clothes for 5 to 15 dollars. But at this one, even the clothes from the exact same brands were priced about 6 or 7 dollars more. But hey, they still took some of my clothes when I sold to them, so I can't complain too much. read more

I have high hopes for Buffalo Exchange. I've heard so much about how amazing it is in California, and how it recycles and makes the world better. But I have yet to have a good experience there. Sorry. Maybe I'll change this review later. So, first I bought a pair of shoes. I'm a size eight. It said they're a size eight. When I tried them on they felt a little tight, but I said they'll probably stretch out or whatever. After all, they are size eight. Er, turns out after walking around in shoes that are too tight, you become miserable. I can attest. Anyway, be careful about the shoe sizes there - they might be just horribly wrong. My boyfriend went on an on about how he bought this beautiful sweater there. He wore it and at first I agreed - until I noticed the hole in the elbow. And the collar. And to the left of his shoulder. Seriously? I know some people (cough cough) don't notice holes all over their clothing, but shouldn't the people selling it notice? No he's saying he'll sew the holes up, but actually he's just continuing to wear it to work. Lastly, I'm not really sure what kind of clothes they are looking to buy. I mean, they told me new stuff that's in fashion. But they didn't take any of my stuff. I like to think I'm not hopelessly unfashionable, maybe I'm just not hip enough for this place. Or emo enough. I wanted to get rid of some of my old clothes (because, ahem, they no longer quite fit on the tum tum) and wouldn't mind getting a few dollars in the process. I'd been to Buffalo Exchange in Portland, OR and figured I'd try selling a few items. I brought a duffel bag in and was immediately greeted by Maggie, the manager. She let everyone coming in to sell know that there was a slight wait but that she would be with them soon. This store is NOT a thrift store. They may be used clothes, but the buyers only buy good things, style-wise. Whatever that means. Maggie explained briefly that cut and current style are very important when she is deciding whether to take an item and how much to price it at. It was amazing to see her turn to her fellow buyer who had a question and see her explain in 5 seconds whether the item merited purchase. The prices reflect this selectiveness, but if you would like to pick out some neat, unique clothes without having to sort through a slew of fashion offal, this is the place to do it! Maggie took a few of the things I brought in and I received 30% of her selling price in cash. You must bring an ID for this. You also have the option of taking 50% of the selling price in store credit. I thought it was really neat to see those old clothes turn into a few bucks, and I'll be heading back again with some more! read more

Don't bother trying to sell anything to them if you have worn any of your clothes. Well, not really but I went in there with about 30 old band t-shirts and they didn't want any of them. I was told they weren't in good enough condition. Only about 10 of them were in crappy condition(cracked or faded print) and the rest were in just as good if not better condition then some of the shirts they had on their racks for sale. Davis Sq Buffalo Exchanges is one of the better ones I've been to-- and I've hit them up in Cali, in Las Vegas and there's a second in Boston in Allston. But this staff is definitely my favorite, their selection is a great mix so I generally always walk out with something from accessories to mens to a variety of women's. I've styled myself and photoshoots using a lot of clothing from here, as well as utilize their buying program to sell gently worn, stylish clothes + accessories to fund my shopping habit. In fact, it's a great way to keep it in check, and try out styles I'm not sure if I'll love or hate. Always great fashionable finds here. You can find some really nice brands for a steal, as well as "I'm not sure who made this BUT IT IS AWESOME!!!" kinds of clothing. Kinda bummed they don't really stock much if any vintage at this store anymore. Especially being a vintage loving person myself. Buying/Selling Pro-Tips: While they don't have a limit, don't be THAT PERSON and bring in several suitcases. They don't want your ratty old clothes, they want stylish and gently worn items-- like new is always preferable. If you like to never wear things more than once, or finding yourself having bought things then never getting around to wearing them, this is definitely your place. It's also pretty hopping here-- expect to wait. Bring a book, but don't bring several friends and sit in all the chairs talking loudly. Try to curate what you bring in to their ideal customer; it'll be more likely for them to buy it if they know it will sell well. Don't be afraid to ask questions! The buyers are trained on what to look for, so if you want to know why something wasn't accepted, ask. Then you can refine your selling trip next time. Bring stuff that's in-season. They won't store stuff that's out of season (I know this first hand, bummer!). Each buyer has their own taste-- sometimes you just gotta bring things back a few times before it's the right time for the piece to go on sale. They might currently have several similar items in stock the first time, so the next time they may be low. Do your research, don't be THAT PERSON, and be polite. Oh, and have your ID on you-- they need that and a phone number to sell to you. 30% cash or 50% in store credit of their retail value for your stuff. I always take the store credit because I know I'll always want to buy something plus, it let's me shop without spending cash dollars. Makes it a nice little cycle. So I have been coming to this buffalo exchange for a little over a year now, and I thought I would venture a review of this incredibly delightful, yet incredibly frustrating store. First off: buying. I could easily spend upwards of $300 here if I had the money or the inclination; I have never walked out of the store without having found a piece that I was crazy about. The shoe selection has always impressed me, although as a size 9 I usually have trouble finding good boots that fit. The dress and jacket selection have never failed me (I just picked up a new leather jacket and a Marc Jacobs dress the other day), yet it seems that lately prices on everything have gone up a bit... Second off: selling. I honestly dread selling here, but as an eternal optimist, I continue to round up my old clothes and cart them over to davis square in the hopes that they will be accepted, and even more importantly, that I will not have to wait to sell. Every time I come here to sell I end up waiting a half an hour minimum before a salesperson can help me. This has occurred both on weekends and weekdays, but especially on the weekends (naturally). Be prepared to feed your meter sufficiently before heading in, otherwise the money you get from your clothes will go toward paying your parking ticket. Also, as mentioned before, they are extremely picky with their clothes. However, goodwill is right next door and I often drop off my rejects there. The staff is very friendly here, and overall I enjoy shopping here, just not selling here. read more

Disclaimer: I am not a huge fan of consignment/secondhand stores in general. I'd prefer to buy a cheap shirt that's new than a nicer shirt used. Same goes for purses and shoes. Jeans I can handle. Just personal preference. Buffalo Exchange is striving for the whole "affordable consignment for the masses" thing. The store is well-kept, and the clothing is organized. It's mostly casual clothing with some costume options as well. And, I don't think that most of the clothing here is truly a bargain. I'm a big sale/coupon-shopper, so I'm not super-impressed by their prices (you can get a shirt from the Gap for $12 new, if you buy at the right time), but it's definitely cheaper than a Second Time Around or Poor Little Rich Girl (but also, not as nice). I've brought old clothes there twice to try to sell--this process is NOT for the faint of heart. You have to stand there while the buyer checks out your stuff and determines which pieces are worthy enough to be sold at Buff Exchange. You have to watch them reject some of your stuff and keep from blurting out "Um, my Loft dress is way cooler than half of the stuff in this store!" and then, defeated, throw your rejects in the Goodwill bin. I've been to Buffalo Exchange many time but the results are hit or miss. I used to find really cute dress that stopped after a few visits. They carry a large variety of brands and the items are usually in great condition. The prices are very reasonable and they are much cheaper than PLR and Second Time Around. I've been able to do some consigning there which is great especially since they give you 50% value in store credit. The staff has always been friendly and the store is always clean and well organized. It's definitely more of a browsing store so I don't usually go there when I'm on a mission to find that special outfit. I love that they give you a five cent token to donate one of charities they sponsor if you don't use a plastic bag at check out....giving back to the community and being environmentally responsible is always a good thing in my opinion. read more

Had a really good experience here. I don't usually find things at retailers like this, but here they had a good range in sizes (I'm a little guy), and there is a lot of denim! I haven't tried to sell or trade, but I am excited to do so, people are hating on it, but you dont HAVE to sell your clothes to them... Overall very pleased to see a place like this, not to mention, bring your own bag, and they donate to charity! read more

This place is great! They've got new and used ("recycled") clothes for sale for really cheap. They have shoes, bags, belts, jewelry, dresses, shirts, skirts, men's clothes, and jeans. Selling to Buffalo Exchange is also a good way to make a quick buck. Being from Philly, I'm so glad they finally opened up a store in the Boston Area! read more

I love the idea of Buffalo Exchange and have found some really cute stuff here. Unfortunately for me I have very short little legs so pants can be tough, but there are still plenty of cute things in here. The store is clean and organized and that really makes it feel less like a thrift store and more like a boutique. Take your time and check everything out! When coming to sell keep in mind that it does take time and that they are picky. Your items should be clean and in good condition. read more

I shop at this location pretty often, and I would say it's a lot better than most Buffalo Exchange stores I've been to in terms of friendliness of the associates and cleanliness of the store. Today I sold some clothes for store credit, and usually buyers for stores are really rude about what they don't want, but at this store they simply fold it and set it aside while engaging in a friendly conversation with you. It's really great and makes you feel really welcome in the store. The buying policy is really easy as well: 30% of the new retail price in cash or 50% in store credit. What's great is you can shop around before deciding either or. I would return here over the Allston location, and I wish the Buffalo Exchange in Houston operated as well as this one does. I just recently have been frequenting this location fairly often and can definitely say its one of my favorite Buffalo Exchange's to date. I've been to the location in Allston as well as in NYC, Philadelphia, and Portland, OR. The store is fairly well organized according to Tees, Blouses, Skirts, Shorts, etc. The sizes are even almost all organized as well. I'm one of those crazy shoppers that has to help put things back on hangers if I find them falling off or on the floor. The layout doesn't feel like a thrift store, but more like a regular ole clothing store. Unlike the one in Allston. I feel as though that one is far too open and very "good will"-esque. I tend to only go here when its not busy. I hate shopping in general and hate it even more when I get anxiety over tons of people. So, I haven't had to wait very long when checking out. The staff has always been friendly and chatty but not overbearing. I recently told the dressing room attendant that wearing spanx was like getting hugged all day. At least she laughed and humored me instead of kicking me out immediately for bad jokes. Easy going enough for you? I suppose I can say that as I have yet to experience trying to sell my clothes here. This would certainly be my first pick of places to go to, but I can definitely see how it would be a little frustrating depending on whose working. I have some friends that say they've made out very well, and others have horror stories of them not wanting brand new designer clothes with the tag and receipt still with them. I have seen a woman (whom I'm assuming is the manager) having to literally direct the employees from spot to spot just to keep the flow of work running smoothly. Biggest plus? I recently found 3 skirts and a dress and it all came to $40. Granted 2 of the skirts were originally from H&M and only cost me $8, I can't really complain. Most of the time I have a hard time paying more than $10 for something at H&M that I know is going to fall apart on me, so why not buy it second hand for even less? Great. Oh! This is national chain and in many respects if you've been to one, you've been to all of them. I love Buffalo Exchange, but it doesn't pay to be delusional here. Buffalo Exchange is one of those consignment stores where people bring their originally overprice, high quality digs to be resold at normal-ish prices. If you're looking for a rare pair of 7 jeans for $5, you need to move two doors down. If you're looking for 7 jeans that typically carry a $20-40 price tag, then Buffalo Exchange is where you'll find them. That said, you can't really shop here as if you were at Goodwill or else you'll quickly end up with a triple digit bill. Clothing intended for some definition of man: Their selection is sizable and there are a lot of different styles of clothing, not just hipster fashions. I had to stop myself from buying all of the shirts that fit me and I'm not usually one to have that kind of reaction to clothes. The pants/jeans were nothing exceptional, but if you're in the market for a jacket/sweater/vest type of thing, Buffalo Exchange seems to have an overabundance. This also one of the few places I've been to that has a clear "men's shoes" section. I never have any luck with second hand shoes, but most of them are very nice to look at. Buffalo Exchange is where I tend to go when I'm tired of sifting between musty blazers and jeans with unidentifiable crust at other stores. I know I can always find something I like here, it won't cost me market price, and I won't have to try very hard. read more

Love this store! Possible to find vintage to basics, well organized clothes. I bought my favorite jacket that I wear almost everyday. Great for our budget. Environmentally friendly too. It is super busy on the weekends. But the staff is so helpful and patient. read more
