Nice furnishings. At a lovely campsite

Stayed at a lot of KOA's and this is top notch ! I had a river front patio site and it was worth every penny ! A new Webber spirit grill with propane . A super cool stainless solo fire ring and some real nice furniture! And on a concrete pad ! ( well you park on level gravel ) but you relax on the patio

French Creek and Clear Creek run through the camp ground. So pretty! They are fast so keep your kiddos close!

This was a beautiful campground. Clean and well kept. Gravel pad sites, grass and trees. We stopped here on our way through to yellow stone national park. Owners were friendly. Pull through sites were perfect for our 36' motor home and car. The dog park was a nice place to let the pups run yet walking among the small grounds was perfect. A great break from a long day driving. Tent pad sites are available along the river and cabins are located closer to the main lodge. A game room, book options, laundry room and showers are located in the main lodge. Showers were clean and water was warm! There are also nice patio sites available with a few of the pad sites. There is an outdoor patio as well as an outdoor kitchen closer to the cabins. I would highly recommend this KOA!

Probably one of nicest KOAs I've been to! It was beautiful!! We had a creek view and I just couldn't get over how beautiful it was. Super clean rv park and everyone that worked there was super friendly. If only I lived closer I would go all the time! We stopped in for the night to break our drive up to Montana. My only complaint was I got swarmed my mosquitos but for some reason they just like me lol. Go check this rv park out if you need somewhere to stop or stay for a weekend! You won't be disappointed!

A smaller no-frills KOA. This was stop#6 on a 12 day trip and our last leg before arriving home in Denver. We used this KOA as a one night stop, and for that, it was a decent stop. Some sites are nicer than others, with the patio sites being the best. Unfortunately, they removed their hot tub super site from years ago, and there is no hot tub at the pool. And unfortunately their pool was also down for rest of the year. Our site #20 was at the back of the campground. Again, no-frills. Simple gravel site with weeds. The fire ring and table were at the extreme end of the site and basically unusable. Awful placement. Ok for a quick overnight, but that's about it. We camped at Buffalo KOA Journey in a Motorhome.

The eyes are upon you....watch out!@!

Well maintained Journey KOA in Buffalo Wyoming. We stopped for another overnight stay. Nice office and a warm welcome from the owners. I had reserved a deluxe patio site but it was completely in the sun and had a fenced patio area with everything in it. Patio chairs and table, swing, grill etc. It was basically an area for your dogs to roam freely too. But with sun and closed in feel, we asked for another site next to it that was shady and open. The owner called the office to see if it was available and it was... so we took it. Walked around the back of the park and saw the river area. Nice!! Bathrooms were really clean and well maintained. Called the office to see if I could get a refund on the difference between the cost of the two sites. She wasn't too receptive to the idea but I told her I would appreciate whatever she could do. We'll see what the outcome will be. Nice stopover and on our way to Billings Montana.

Our stay was wonderful, check in was very smooth. We got into our spacious site with no issues. The campground was clean and well maintained despite the expansion construction. The pool was clean. There was also a nice creek that our dogs enjoyed playing in along with the dog park. The front desk staff made sure we had plans while we were in Buffalo and gave us great hiking recommendations. His recommendations definitely made this one of our favorite spots on our three week trip. Unfortunately, there was not much to do in town with so many places being closed so it was nice having a beautiful campsite to spend our time.

Unexpected nice ~ don't pass this one by Most recent stay was 7/31/16 / 8/01/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Journey version ~ not your typical KOA [much better]. Off the interstate so it was quiet no road noise at all. 1 of the better KOA's we've stayed at ~ we were directly across from restroom/shower/laundry building. Very impressed w/restroom-showers. Very clean and updated w/modern fixtures. Showers had rubber mats when you exit the stall & were in a separate private room w/small bench in changing-dressing area. Only CON was bench very narrow [small] becuz inside area of room too compact plus no hooks and shelves in shower and in communal sink area for your clothes-towels-& stuff all necessities that a camper needs Campground itself very tidy, neat, and maintained. All roads and site pads have gravel, but no potholes and all level. Sites are wider/larger than most KOA's we've stayed at w/good shade at most sites, plus some upgraded sites have cement patios w/BBQ grill and outdoor patio furniture easily accommodates the big rigs. Sparkling clean swimming pool, cabins for rent, separate tent area on the grass and under shade trees.

A good place for an overnight stay, their premium sites have a fire pit, bbq, pergola and lounge chairs. Nice and clean park.

    What a great KOA

Circle Park Campground - Site #10

I gave it 5 stars because Big Horn National Forest is absolutely beautiful, there are many…read morecampgrounds in the area that are either first-come, first-serve or reservable and there is also dispersed camping allowed throughout the area. This review is for Circle Park Campground. There are about 10 campsites, you can reserve ahead of time by calling but we opted to show up and see what was available. We arrived at around 2:00pm in the afternoon on a Saturday at the end of June and there were about 5 or 6 spots available, I'd say it was full by 6:00pm. We were in campsite #10 (This will be important later). Circle Park is tucked in about 2.5 miles off of the main road so you are nestled right in the forest. Some of the sites are pretty close together but we were able to snag one that was off of a loop on the far end of the campground. I was there with my boyfriend, I also saw families and individuals camping in tents or hard-sided campers. There is a water pump available, and vault toilets. The site had a parking spot to pull into, picnic table, and fire ring. Firewood is not available to purchase, however you can drive up the main highway a couple more miles to a different campground to purchase wood. It was very quiet and scenic, and early in the evening a large deer walked right past us as we were playing cribbage at the picnic table. The deer would have been enough for me but I have an even more amazing wildlife tale to tell: We settled in, cooked dinner over our fire and see the camp host/ranger driving by to check on everyone (There's no established camp host at this campground, she just drives through once in the evening. She swings by our site (#10) which is tucked away from the other sites a little bit. She tells us that there is a moose that likes to come out into the clearing near our campsite every evening at 8:00pm, if we were interested in watching for it, and then tells us to have a good night. I walked about 15 feet from our tent to a break in the trees where I get a full view of the clearing and watch for the moose with my binoculars. Lo and behold there she is about 150-200 yards out from our tent/campsite at around 8:20 pm - pretty punctual for a moose! I'm watching her through binoculars for a while and then I see another larger female moose in the bushes by the clearing. Slowly they are making their way across the field (nearer to our campsite but still 100 yards away), I was beyond excited to see these magnificent creatures so close to us. We figured that once it's dark they'll make their way back to where they came from, especially since the camp host didn't seem super concerned when she told us about the moose. We end up putting out our campfire shortly after dark so we can get to bed early. We sit for a few minutes watching the embers fade and then we hear LOUD FRANTIC SNORTING sounds from very close in the clearing, I'm talking there's about 20 feet of scattered tree coverage and then the clearing. I look over through the trees and I see two moose silhouettes RUNNING back and forth. Luckily, these are drive-in sites so me and my boyfriend rush to sit in the car which was 15 feet to the right. Both HUGE MOOSE walk right up the pathway from the clearing, 5 feet from our tent, up in front of my car and 2 feet away from the passenger side where I was sitting. The biggest one decides to lay down 20 feet from my car. AMAZING experience. However, it forced us to sleep in the car until the sun was out just enough to see that they had moved on. We were sore and tired in the morning, but the experience made it worth it. SO, beware of campsite #10 if you have a tent because you might be trampled by moose if you don't hear them in time. I believe the camp host was keeping something from us, as I think this is a common route the moose take through this campsite. The guy in the tent across the way heard them but he was already settled in his tent and the moose seemed to like to stay by us. The other campers there had no idea what had happened that night! Also be aware that moose are very territorial and you never want to get in between a mother moose and her calf (The calf was about 6 feet tall, momma was even taller). There are multiple postings about moose at the entrance to the main gate, do read them and follow protocol to stay safe!!

Circle Park Campground - I don't have a great camera but this was my first sighting of moose #1. I'm standing about 20 feet from my tent. She's in the center.

Good location if you are driving between Mt Rushmore/Custer/Black Hills and Yellowstone-Teton…read more The owners are really nice, we were greeted by them sitting in front of the office in the evening before check in. They provided us with a big map of Wyoming as soon as we told them we were headed to Yellowstone the next day. They only accept cash or check so make sure you bring either. We paid $21 total for one night tent with warm shower included. The bathrooms are nice and kept clean. There are 8 total showers in the communal bathrooms with 2 shower curtains for extra privacy. The water heated up fast so no complaints there. They also have a Laundromat. The only 'downside' (if you could call it that) is that it got fairly windy during our stay with winds up to 30mph. Since it is fairly close to the mountains it was expected and the owner told us to pitch our tent by their wooden fence for more comfort from the winds. Also, we were greeted by 4 small deer at around 10pm so if you don't like that then maybe you can look for a campsite within the city of Buffalo since this campground is about 5 minutes drive down highway 16. A tip is if you leave early (5am) and head towards Yellowstone you can catch some roaming elk along the way. I would definitely recommend this campground. From the friendly owners to the quiet atmosphere and great bathrooms it really doesn't get much better than this if you are looking for a quick place to stay on your way to Yellowstone. Just make sure you check in before 9pm since that's when the office closes and they don't allow self check-in.
