Over the years it's kind of turned into a tradition where every time I travel for work, I get Indian food delivered to where I'm staying. Indian food is one of my absolute favorites and I always order the same thing, you know, so I can compare. Navratan korma, often referred to as simply vegetable curry or korma, has been my go-to since I first tried Indian food back when I was a teenager. So of course, that's what I ordered from here. I also got garlic naan and the vegetable samosa. It didn't take too long to arrive and it was packed up nice and tight. No spillage, thank goodness. Now, I'll be straight up and say that this was far from my favorite... Maybe it was just an off day, I'm not sure. The naan was unevenly cooked and the vegetables in the korma came across like they were from a bag in the freezer. I know that the ingredients can vary depending on the region the recipe is from, but the vegetables included were also very different from what I typically see when I order this elsewhere. I'm really glad I ended up ordering the samosa too, because they were good. Overall, I'd probably try another sport before returning here again. Happy Foodie dance! My wife's cousin took us on a cold, windy, rainy Buffalo afternoon. (Normal weather;-) We live just over 20 miles away. We were greeted immediately and warmly. The restaurant wasn't busy except for delivery orders. The menu was surprisingly broad and enticing. We're usually not hesitant to choose but the menu was so big we couldn't decide. Thankfully cousin narrowed it down for us by choosing a selection to share. Appetizer - Gobi Manchurian, Entrees - Butter Chicken, Lamb Saag, Curry Chicken - Sides - Peshwari & Butter Naan. WOW! Flavor for days. The sharing was such a great way to experience this food. Mixing, and blending was a culinary adventure. The portions didn't look like it would be enough but we were wrong. We had enough leftovers for a nice meal later. Service was excellent. The chef came out to check on us. We really couldn't be happier. What a wonderful find. As mentioned by other reviewers this is "made from scratch " dining. If you're in a hurry or generally don't like a slower pace of dining maybe this isn't for you. I was so excited to try this establishment! I have enjoyed butter chicken for almost 20 years (since learning a recipe from a former colleague). I've also spent nearly 2 decades chasing the memory of a sweet Naan recipe after having the BEST Indian food ever...while on a tour in Ireland. I went in for a late lunch on Monday (around 1230). I got a window seat in the sunshine & ordered quickly. My food arrived FAST, piping hot, and delicious. I decided to be adventurous and order the butter chicken with medium heat. I felt it, but it wasn't inedible. The peshwari Naan was not like the sweet Naan I've been chasing since Ireland, but I won't stop searching! I decided to try a few basic things for my first time - butter chicken, saag paneer, naan, mango lassi, raita. SO good. I did takeout so I was only briefly in the restaurant but the person who gave me my food was very nice. Entrees come with rice so no need to order more. I LOVE Buffalo Tikka House. I was in Buffalo for work for 10 days and was lucky enough to try Buffalo Tikka House on my first night there. After trying it once, I went back 5 more times--it was that good. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and have even travelled in India. This was hands down the best Indian food I've ever had in my life. The Mulligatawny soup was amazing, as were the kormas and tikka masalas. Found this place on a Yelp search for Indian food in Buffalo. One final meal before our return trip home. We got there around 4:00 pm on a Tuesday and the place was empty. The server brought us to a table by the front window, which was very nice. We first ordered a Vegetable Samosa to share. The server brought us the dish, which is two nice size samosas that were perfect for sharing one each as an appetizer. The pastry was fried nicely, with each bite starting with a crunch followed by tender inner pastry. The filling of potato and peas was ample. My partner ordered Lamb Curry and I ordered Saag Paneer. My partner liked the heat of her dish (she ordered "medium", one of the two options offered - medium or spicy.). The lamb was cooked nicely and had a good flavor. The curry sauce was nicely spiced, but not overpowering. The Saag Paneer (also ordered medium) included large chunks of paneer and was nicely spiced. I'm thinking that if I had ordered it Spicy that I may not have been able to eat it. This was plenty spicy. The orders came with a large plate of well prepared basmati rice, which we could have requested more of but it was plenty. We also ordered a garlic naan, which was a single naan bread cut into four pieces. Each piece had chunks of garlic throughout and was very good. We told the server that we were just passing through town and probably wouldn't be back in the area. So, we were surprised when he brought the check and gave each of us a complementary serving of rice pudding. I'm not usually a fan of rice pudding because it either doesn't have much flavor or is too watery. This dessert suffered from neither of those things. It was delicious. read more

NOT AN AUTHENTIC INDIAN RESTAURANT - PROCEED WITH CAUTION I visited Buffalo Tikka House last month and was disappointed to find it's not a genuine Indian restaurant. Before going, I called to ask about the menu and inquired if they serve Thali, a staple in North Indian cuisine. They claimed they don't offer it because they're a "North Indian restaurant," which is absurd--I'm from North India, and Thali is common there. The menu had no pork dishes but was packed with beef, which isn't typical for traditional Indian restaurants. I researched the owner's background on internet and found conflicting information online. They mentioned working at a "famous Indian restaurant" in New York but wouldn't name it, which seemed shady. The overall vibe felt off, so I left without eating. I've seen this pattern in the US, UK, and elsewhere, where some restaurants (specially owned by non-Indian Muslims) misrepresent themselves as Indian. This was our first time dining in at Buffalo Tikka House and I was very happy with the whole experience! We came around 2 pm for my birthday lunch. I'd previously tried their vegetable samosa, but nothing else. There were only two other occupied tables, so we were seated right away by the friendly man who greeted us. The outside of the restaurant looks a little run down, but inside is nice enough with several bar height tables and a couple regular tables near the window. We ordered the chicken 65 to start. It was delicious! Slightly crispy with a deep red chili seasoning and a light spiciness. We also ordered vegetable biryani and lamb Rogan Josh along with some naan. We wanted the lamb really spicy, but it barely had any heat. We ordered the biryani medium and it also had the same level of heat, hardly any. I mentioned it to the server, but he didn't seem to believe me. Next time I'll emphasize we want it super spicy and hopefully they'll accommodate us. The vegetable biryani wasn't anything to write home about and I wouldn't order it again, but the Chicken 65 and Rogan Josh were phenomenal! (Besides not being spicy enough). The naan was light, crispy and buttery delicious! They don't serve alcohol. We ordered tap water, which tasted fine. He kept our glasses full. This is our go-to Allentown Indian spot, and we and always enjoy ourselves. For my taste, everything has just the right texture, especially the rice, naan, and paneer cubes. The meat is tender; it's all good but I like lamb most. There are a wide variety of flavors and spiciness (mild is no heat at all, medium ramps it up quite a bit so I've never tried the really hot stuff!) We always splurge here with an introductory chai (creamy with no sugar) and a desert of rice pudding or the mango shake. We are slowly making our way through the naans and there haven't been any I disliked, they are all so fresh and different. It is a fairly calm and quiet atmosphere - great spot for a casual date night. I also always enjoy the service. I can't remember names but we often have the same young guy who patiently waits out our indecision and gives suggestions and information. It's vegetarian; chopped up vegetable samosas smothered with all the delicious sauces and some curried chickpeas. Highly recommend. If you can do spicy foods the Chicken 65 is a must have. A beautiful red appetizer of spicy sauced chicken pieces. They have one of the best lamb Rogan Josh I've ever had. I order it almost every time. The lamb kebabs are also amazing. Saag paneer also excellent if you're vegetarians. Very good garlic naan AND the have paratha and roti as well. The family that runs the restaurant is so very nice and kind and friendly. They have ready made drinks including pomegranate juice and mango lassi in a fridge near the front. And they have lovely desserts if you save room for them. If you're spice adverse you should always order mild here. Their medium spice is not at all disappointing and has enough kick to make even me a little sniffly. I love spicy foods. We go here fairly often and I feel bad that I didn't do a review earlier. It's positively lovely here and the best Indian food I've had in Buffalo. There is room for a group at long tables in the back. We've met up with a good ten friends here a few times. No, anything that's offered/suggested from the beginning is complimentary. We agreed to have 'Chicken 65' which was actually an appetizer. It didn't come with rice or bread. It was served as a snack to share before the main entrees. The flavor was unique and spicy, but not extremely hot. Alongside our order of Chicken Saag with rice and Garlic Naan, it was enough food for a midday meal for two people. I have to admit, we really enjoyed the lunch. Everything was prepared beautifully. I liked the bread. The spinach chicken dish had a fresh, very addictive deep flavor. I could complain about the portion size, but I hope it's just a temporary trend. Prices go up and portions shrink down. There is no lunch menu available. We were chatting a little bit with the owner and the news is, Buffalo Tikka House is changing its location. I'm not sure where and when exactly, but he pointed to the construction site on Main Street. I'd come back after they move. I recently had the pleasure of eating here recently and loved it. I had the Lamb Rogan Josh, Veg Biryani, Garlic Naan and Naan. First the Lamb Rogan Josh was spectacular. I asked for it to be very spicy and I was very happy with it. I could have handled more heat, however. The lamb was cooked beautifully and wasn't the least bit gamey (too bad). The Naan was really good as well. The garlic Naan was off the hook though and is a must get when you come here. I was not as pleased with the Veg Biryani. It had hardly any vegetables in it and what Veg was in it was just a bag of frozen peas and carrots. When you're paying $14.95 for a dish I feel it's reasonable to expect fresh vegetables instead of frozen vegetables especially when the meat version is only a buck or two more. Now, full disclosure, I'm a neophyte when it comes to Indian cuisine but I found this to be very tasty and packed with good flavor and balance (except for the Biryani). They have three flavors for curry: mild, medium, and hot, which at Buffalo Tikka House, is not a turmeric or coconut milk curry sauce, but a tomato based sauce. The medium is so HOT that my lips almost fell off. I am someone who cuts up raw jalapenos in my salads and who loves habaneros and cayenne pepper. In other words, I love spicy food, but their medium is inedible and medically alarming and they should warn people!! Further, their chicken is always so dry, as is their spiky basmati rice. I'v been meaning to go here for a while and I finally did. I came with a friend on a Saturday afternoon around 1:45. I told the guy I will be dining in and I'm waiting for a friend. He said I will give you this masala chai very very good. Help from coming from the cold. Before I could even say ok it was at my table. I didn't know if it was complimentary, or if I had to pay for it, but whatever I'll take it. It was ok. Kind of bland. I enjoy chai tea, and maybe it was the masala but it it wasn't as great to me. After, he gives me a menu and says I will bring you this to the table. Great for sharing. And then walks away and I'm this is the 2nd time I'm getting something and I have yet to actually order anything. It ended up being the veggie samosas which were pretty good with the sauce it came with. Without the sauce, again, it was kinda blah. My friend came and he proceeds to get her a masala chai. She looks at me like I didn't ask for this, I go neither did I. And he says take your time. We caught up and he comes back about 3 minutes later and ask what we wanted; we were still looking. Then he said I will bring over this dish to share and I also will bring over this dish to share. This time I stopped him and was like no....we will choose our own dinner thank you. He looked in surprise and I was like just give us 2 minutes please. And he walked away. I'm ok with making recommendations but I am NOT ok with someone just ordering for me, especially when you don't even know what I may like. He comes back and we order our food. It came out in maybe 15/20 minute. I was so thrown off with the experience I didn't even take a picture. It was 2:30. I ordered the mixed tandoori grill. I wish there was a bit more flavor and the lamb was tough. She got the Mango chicken. She was also unimpressed. At 2:45 he comes to our table and says they close at 3 and open back up at 5 so I will box your stuff and continued to grab our food. At this point I'm just ready to go. This guy is too pushy for me and I wasn't aware of the closure before coming. You think this would be something mentioned when coming in at 2 to dine in. They do have a bathroom. They do not server alcohol. They have a very limited drink selection. They were out of bottled water. They only had canned diet pepsi and sprite.
