I really needed to update my review. While I still think the restaurant can be chaotic and confusing for non-Arabic speakers, the low prices are undeniable. $1 cups of delicious bone broth? A huge plate of chicken over rice for $7? Huge pieces of bread for a $1? Free tea? With everything so expensive now, it's a pleasure to get a huge, delicious, and halal meal for so little. 100% Zabihah Hand-Slaughtered Halal. Enough said. It seems like AlMandi is a mixed bag when it comes to customer service, but one cannot deny the stellar, delicious food that they sell. While the restaurant gets hectic sometimes during peak hours, off peak the atmosphere is surprisingly relaxing. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. As for the food, it is phenomenal. The soup is tangy and refreshing, the lamb succulent and a must buy, the curries well-balanced, and the chicken over rice with chutney divine. I'd highly recomnend the new Mandi. I went with some friends and enjoyed this place. It seems like everyone who works here really cares about the restaurant and the food. You can watch as your food is prepared, and the staff makes good recommendations. I was in a fish mood and asked. The man behind the counter seemed pleased that I wanted to try the fish. My fish was perfectly prepared and was delicious. The friends I went with had other dishes and they liked them, too, but one said the lamb was too fatty. Otherwise, this would be a 5-star review. If you like spicy, as I do, be sure to tell them. Otherwise they might hold back a bit. Accessible by #4 Broadway bus. Wheelchair accessibility is probably OK. Firstly I would like to say that the food was amazing. I didn't realize much about the place until I went there. The reviews on Yelp looked amazing and I wanted to try out some Arabic food since they are very similar to Indian food. I had called up the place before going there since I was ordering a take out. The restaurant said that I don't need to order in advanced. The restaurant is right on Broadway street, there is a parking lot alongside the restaurant and also you can park on Smith St. The inside of the restaurant is not much appealing. The food was fresh, warm. I ordered Lamb Haneeth with rice. The lamb was fatty, juicy, not much spicy and very tasty. I wasn't sure if the place was under renovation or it has always been this way but I would never go there for dine-in if the place stays that way. Again, the food was delicious. Their service has gotten very bad. The food is bland and dry but they take wrong order and then blame it on the customer. I understand the girl did not speak English but she started rolling her eyes as we pointed out that she brought back the wrong thing nicely. If you are thinking they have the same management as before construction, you are up for a rude awakening. They charge $2 for the soup (that's basically the watery gravy from the lamb curry) that used to be free. They also do not provide any gravy anymore with the lamb, so you will have dry lamb with rice. Also, plain white rice is $3 that does not come with your overpriced two pieces of lamb that you got with your order. Just to make things better if you ask for gravy then be prepared to pay for $6 extra with your $18 lamb+ $3 rice. If you want to have tasty food, DO NOT GO THERE. read more

Amazing food here guys!!!!! They have a soup that I call crack soup. Reason being it's addictive. Completely addictive! I have no idea what's inside aside from vegetables and spices. They won't tell me. The rice is uhhhmmm mmmmmm mmmmm good. It has vegetables and spices in it. It has a kick to it that comes out of no where. I love the vegetables. You never know what's going to be in them. Typically it's very big pieces of butternut squash, yellow zucchini, potato, corn, acorn squash, green zucchini, tomato. So the amount of vegetables isn't the kicker it's they way they're made. Omg! I tried to figure it out and do it myself. Noooooppppeee! It was a no go. Mine sucked. I did get the whole chicken, two different times because it came as a meal. Im not sure if it's roasted or smoked or how they make it. It's dry like I like it but moist where it needs to be. I'm a chicken breast kind of lady so all that dark meat that's on the rest of the chicken, well everyone else can eat it. Anywho it's small but there are table to dine in if you choose to. The staff is very friendly. My only issue is every time I go in my food is a different price. It's not expensive at all. On average I pay about $10 for vegetables, rice and bread. It's well worth whatever they charge me so I don't complain. However for other that I send there, well you know people would like to know exact amounts , even if they do end up paying a different price. In the restaurants defense, I do always ask for more rice and more vegetables. So depending on who's serving me that's how my meal price is charged. It's affordable either way. I am one who has never cared about the cost of food. If it's great amazing wonderful fantastic out of this world food, expect me to by the meal and pay my electric bill later. Hahaaahaa. Al Mandy has a special place in my heart. This is not much of a sit down restaurant but they do have seating in place. The food though.....easily one of the closer authentic main stream Yemeni/Arabic restaurants in Buffalo. I'd suggest you get to get the chicken and lamb Haneeth mix on the big foil bowls, which they'll carefully put together for your take out. Ask for the veggies they have, and to make it smokier and juicier, you can throw in some lamb shanks in there too. Their shawarma wraps are amazing. This place was recommended to me by a friend, I had never even heard of it. The flavors were divine and unique and this place was unlike any I've seen around. Their tea is unbelievable it's so good I had three cups, and it's free to enjoy! The food was fantastic as well, we split a chicken curry three ways and still had extra and it was so cheap i was shocked. We got their soup to start, sort of like a broth like miso soup but with spicy flavor and it was different than any other I tried. It was so tasty. We also got an order of naan, I didn't love it but it was okay. The chicken curry could have used a bit more sauce and then it would have been an easy 5 star for me. Al Mandy is my go-to for Middle Eastern food in the area. The food and the experience are authentic. If you enjoy the cuisine, you will probably enjoy this place. You won't get a 5-star, sit-down experience or 5 star service, but you will get 5 star flavor. Calling ahead helps, but don't take too long to get there because they are relatively quick in preparation. Some of the food is already prepared and they simply serve it to you. Don't be intimidated by the crowd. You can be in and out pretty quickly. The people are friendly and appreciative of your business. My only concern is a perceived lack of consistency. My review aligns with everyone else on here. The food is very good, and the service is even better. I arrived at Al Mandy not knowing exactly what I wanted. I asked about the chicken curry. Unlike Indian curry, the chicken is bone in, and cooked and they combine it with potatoes, sauce, and other vegetables while serving it over a rice, just like a briyani. I ordered a side of soup which was a very light, flavorful broth that is a perfect side. It was later at night and they had no Shawarma meat, so he offered a modified chicken wrap. I literally used to eat here due to it being halal and I always order my rice and samosa in which I was gonna order that day but one day I was waiting in line and while waiting to place my order the cashier (younger guy) took orders of other customers first while I was waiting although it took him less than literally 3 seconds and the most efficient work I've seen outside of myself due to the principality of respect of the customers the cashier lacked. This is my 54th Yelp review, but if I could turn back time this would be my first 5 star rating; that's how much the TASTE of the food here stands out. This is my new favorite restaurant in Buffalo. It was recommended to me by a friend from Yemen who said "It's the only Yemeni food I've had in Buffalo that tastes better than my mom's." There is nothing more authentic and delicious and the service is excellent. My friend and I ordered a lot and were served almost immediately. I went at 10pm and they still had good business but were able to serve well. Although it was 10pm we were able to sit and enjoy the meal. The employees were so friendly and helpful and the prices are very reasonable (and huge portions). I doubt this will be the first time I review Al Mandy's so I'll keep it short for now. I have driven by Al Mandy's, a Yemeni restaurant on my way home from work for years and didn't stop. Well, we got take out tonight. The food is well seasoned and plentiful. We had the Haneeth Lamb and Chicken Curry. It came with potatoes, rice and bread. The bread was a big as my table and so soft and I used it to scoop up the food into my mouth. I tried to give this restaurant many chances, but they have failed every time. I went into their store and ordered pick up through Grubhub couple months ago and I waited over an hour. After waiting all that time I finally got my ordered and left right away since the restaurant was very crowded. When I got home I found out my order is wrong. I basically paid $71 for the wrong order, but at that time I couldn't do anything about it so I let it go . I tried to give them another chance on 01/09/2021 . I ordered for delivery through Grubhub for 3 different items . My food was delivered an hour later , but this time they Missed one of my orders . Like how difficult it is to deliver 1 Chicken curry with rice 1 Chicken curry without rice and 1 Beef gallaba. I immediately called Grubhub and complained and they have refunded me for the missed item. On top of all of that . Masks or 6ft distance are not being enforced . Most employees and customers don't wear masks . Maybe they don't believe that there's a pandemic going on . If Al Mandy keeps running their business like this . They will lose a lot of customers and their restaurant will be shutdown by Dept of health for not following health guidelines. read more
