Went here on Friday June 19th 2026. Had some time to kill before work and decided to come in here to see what they had. Not my first time in here, but my 1st time actually purchasing something. If you never been to build a bear before, basically it is a toy store where one can stuff your own bear, buy it accesories and outfits. They have both large bears and regular size bears, as well as the new minis. Selection on outfits are plentiful too! Also, one can explore more options online as some bears are online exclusive. Also if one buys something, one can ask the cashier to order one for you. Anways, walked in and was greeted by friendly staff. I've been eyeing the Buckbeak from Harry Potter, and that day when I went in there, it was the last one! So i took that as a sign that it was meant to be, and picked it up. Even went to the outfit section and picked out a Gryfindor Scarf for my stuffed animal. Went to the cashier, who was friendly, and also was a fan of Harry Potter! spent a total of 58.41, and also am a build a bear rewards member and got a few points for this purchase, as well as a gift card. We were greeted right away by a friendly staff who were attentive and available to help with any questions and make recommendations on ways to make our bears even more memorable. The staff seemed to really enjoy their jobs which I think is important. The selection, value and process was great and easy. read more

I went into Build a bear Broadway at the beach to make a birthday bear (memorial bear) for my step daughter who passed away as an infant as I have for many years before and done pay your age. Never once encountering an issue with the exception of once TN made me pay age she would have been (if she was still living) compared to SC (same Broadway at the beach store) who usually charges me age she was turning when she passed away. I encountered Edgar (who apparently was a Manager) who advised me I would not be eligible for said discount because you must 1) have an account 2) it must be birthday month and 3) child must be present. I advised I have 1 & 2 but however again child has passed away to which Edgar looked dead at me and my 12 year old son and said I don't care if the kid is dead or not she's not here and that's policy. I proceeded to make my bear (the girl stuffing my bear apologized for Edgar's statement 3xs because she had just lost her boyfriend a month prior and his comment was unnecessary), I get to the register for Edger to run up to ring me out (I assume to make sure I didn't ask about the discount again but I don't know). At which time I stated I understand its policy but your comment was a slap in the face to every parent who has ever lost a child to which Edgar rolled his eyes causing my son to finally lose it and snap. My friend was behind me getting ready to check out with her two boys she snatched the two bears from their hands set them down and walked out. I will never again step foot in another Build a Bear Thank you Edgar for ruining a yearly tradition for my Husband and children. The place was a bit crowded for covid standards. Seemed pretty clean nonetheless. The woman who helped us was super friendly and wonderful with my kiddos. Even with a longgg line behind us, she was all by herself, and she still took the time to be personable and caring during my kids first time here! I don't tend to write reviews of chains or retail, but the service I received at Build-A-Bear was so great that it still has me smiling. Note: If you've been to a Build-A-Bear before (I hadn't), you can skip my review and just know my tldr is that the staff were so dang sweet at this location! I live about 90 minutes away but a friend had raved to me that BAB offers a birthday bear that's "pay your age" during a child's birthday month. I love traditions and my baby just turned one, so I thought starting this could be a neat family tradition at best or a waste of a 3 hour drive at worse. So we adventured. I've never been to Broadway at the Beach and the day we went it was like a ghost town. It was slightly creepy to see all the touristy stuff completely vacant. But once we got into BAB the staff were so warm and welcoming. I told them I was there for the birthday bear (basically saying, "I'm here to pay exactly $1 for a bear. Thanks!") and they walked me through what that entailed. Some of the other many options were pretty cute, but I'd say kind of pricy for what I'm not sure is the best quality. I chose a deflated carcass of a bear ($14 generally for this one) and did end up grabbing a "1st birthday" shirt to protect the bear's modesty (haha) for $7. When I got to the stuffing area, they made a few attempts at upselling (add a fragrance, add a heartbeat, add a voice, etc.) but no big deal and they didn't push when I said, "No thanks" repeatedly. I'm not sure my one-year-old cared about the bear in the first place, so I certainly didn't need to get any bells and whistles. They walked me through a "heart ceremony" which made my sensitive mom heart a bit weepy, then stuffed and sewed up our bear with my "help". When my baby grabbed an extra heart and crammed it in his mouth (don't recommend letting your baby do this...choking hazard) they let me keep the bonus heart. Throughout the process, they were really interactive and sweet with my baby. I can imagine how they involve older kids in the process and I bet it makes them feel so special. Included was a bear birth certificate, customized with my baby's name and his new bear's name. As we checked out there were more attempts at upselling which I again avoided. All in all, we left having spent $8 on a fairly cute bear and if I'd let him go naked he would have been $1. I know in later years I'll be tempted to get my son all the bells and whistles but today was definitely worth it. read more

The day we visit the Build a Bear store is when everyone else wants to visit. It's either from the residual "pay your age" promotion or its because of the location. Last year when we visited it was in June and very little people looking to get a bear. This time the line was very looong. The staff was friendly and nice. Overall, our experience with this store was good and no complaints beside the large amount of people looking to do the same thing as us. read more

Hey..... You'd have to be crazy not to love this place. I'll bet Mr. Build-A-Bear is sitting in his mansion counting his money. I sure wish I had come up with this idea. Where else do you go to spend $80 on a stuffed bear. Of course you have to buy the "special heartbeat" the scent, brush, bows, outfit, hat, ..., and don't forget the shoes!!!! The employees are happy, the kids love it..... And the parents just open up their wallets. ... How do you say "No" to a kid wanting such a cute bear. I love this store! Always such a fun place to go. As usual you can get nickled and dimed so skip the extras if you can. It is the only place to get toothless the dragon. Wouldn't make a special trip but we were there so the dragon came home with us. Less than thirty dollars which wasn't bad!! read more
