Wow, I used to love this store. The old owners were amazing! They were so helpful and kind and…read morewelcoming. Plus, I can walk here from work. I have enjoyed getting gifts for my daughter and all of the little kids in my life. However, I came in yesterday looking for a Balance bike for my daughter for her second birthday. I found one, they only had one left, and I bought it. Unfortunately, when I got it home although the box said that the seat was adjustable, it was only adjustable forward and backwards, not up and down.Which is a bit odd considering it says it's for 18 month to four-year-old children. My daughter was too tall for the bike. I brought it back today because there was no way she could use it. The girl who sold it to me yesterday said no problem and then she got another woman to come help me. I assume this is the store owner(a middle-age woman behind the counter). She was incredibly rude. She told me that she's gonna have to eat the cost as a small business and rolled her eyes, and then said that it's not actually returnable, but that she would give me a refund. Ok? You're mad at me? For doing business with you? Because something had what seems like false advertising on the box? It wasn't broken, but it did not adjust. I'm not sure how a four-year-old would be able to use that bike (The age was 18 months to four years old with an adjustable seat). Considering that seat doesn't adjust up and down makes it a bit odd to advertise such a large age gap. I left the store thinking that she was clearly mad at me and upset that I had returned the bike. That attitude at a children's store is just not the way to do business. As a business owner, sometimes that's just the cost of doing business. Sometimes you have to do the right thing regardless of whether or not that is in your financial best interest. I don't think I'll be back to shop here anymore. Which is too bad because I love supporting local businesses here in Baltimore.

Located in the Hampden section of Bmore, Atomic Books would easily satisfy the inner book nerd in you (*raises hand...). Upon entering, the ambiance was chill with music playing over the speaker with just enough volume to not get in the way of perusing the incredible book collection. The books are sectioned according to genre, which makes for ease in looking for a specific topic. They have a magazine section as well with titles you won't find in an ordinary newsstand (a magazine titled "Bomb"?.... I'm impressed). The cost of the books varied, but was not so to bust your budget. They also have a selection of comic books in addition to t-shirts and items with the Atomic Books logo. The staff were pleasant and customers who came in seemed to be locals supporting a great small business. I liked that. And don't forget I mentioned a bar....located in the rear....serving adult libations. Can you imagine yourself purchasing a favorite book and settling in at one of the seats in the bar sipping on your favorite drink? Or playing the video game back there? I could and would have...if I had the time! All in all, a cool neighborhood bookstore/bar to chill out, grab a book, and a drink.

All the books were reasonably priced, and service was quick and efficient when checking out. We had time to kill before a dinner reservation nearby so we walked in to see if we could find a book to bring with us to the beach. After searching through the shelves and seeing all that Atomic Books has to offer, my husband and I both found something that piqued our interest. I love shopping small and supporting local, and Atomic Books has classic Baltimore charm mixed with the unique punk vibes of Hamden. The next time I'm around grabbing a bite, I think I'll stop in and buy another book to enjoy.

This place isn't closed! It is adorable and worth stopping in!…read more I would have never heard of this place if it were't for Baltimore Magazine. They had a Maryland crab themed shopping spread, and there was a cute little ceramic crab jewelry holder that I just HAD TO HAVE! And it was from this little store, Simply Noted, in Ruxton. First attempt in trying to get this crab did not go well. I made sure to check the store hours before I went and when I arrived it was closed! I was very upset since I did check beforehand, so I messaged the store via Facebook. I received a very sincere response from the manager explaining that their summer hours are shorter than listed online. She apologized and offered to ship it to me free of shipping charges. I decided to try going the next day because I really did want to check out the shop, and I am glad I did because it is adorable. Tons of cards, note pads, and gift items like books, dog toys and wine accessories. This place has it all and even designer items to like Kate Spade stationary. The woman working realized it was me from the Facebook messaging and apologized again and she was a pleasure to talk to and work with. And I am SO happy with my cute crab jewelry holder. I will definitely go back if I need to find another fun gift!

They also sell Kate Spade, Lily Pulitzer, Vera Bradley and Crane stationery! Woo-hoo!! I have found great deals on Vera Bradley and Kate Spade stationery at this store. I have also brought my Anne Taintor calendars from this store. They sell calendars, journals, notepads, and much more. It's a super fun store that's totally worth your time. They also do customized invitations (from wedding to baby). They are open Monday - Saturday until 6pm. Closed Sundays. Go and enjoy some great stationery!
