They have all kinds of bears and clothing to dress them in as well as a large variety of accessories It is fun for kids to select, stuff and place a "heart" inside the bear. You can also record a message the bear can "speak". Not sure about pricing, but you're paying for an experience not just a stuffed animal. Helpful staff will guide you through the process. Overcharged $5 and tried to talk to the same cashier, asking why there is $5 overcharged. Instead of trying to figure out her errors, she simply told me to call customer service for help. I asked to speak to the manager so someone could go over the receipt together but she refused to get someone else to help me on a busy Sunday. She just wanted me out of the store. I got connected to the chat representative and she also refused to go over the receipt with me and told me to go back to the same store and figure something out with the staff at that location. I emailed guest service and they found out why I got overcharged. Instead of resolving the isssue by simply adding $5 credit into my account or figure out a way to compensate the $5 I lost, he told me to simply go back to the same store and revolve with the management over there. As you can see, Build-a-Bear is NOT into providing satisfaction. They simply are there to rip off as many dollars as possible from parents/caregivers who love their child. The corporation has a BAD business approach when it comes to resolving issues/conflicts. Their Guest Service is plain USELESS. As a 32 year old, my sister brought me here since I never got to experience it as a kid and it was a better than I expected. Not only was the selection of stuffies and their options of clothing overwhelming [in a good way] but we got Kai to help us stuff our bear & WOW. The excitement and enthusiasm that of the employees are hit and miss. When we go there, there was one lady that was super hyped and pumped. She sang happy birthday to all the celebrants. She went on break and we got the other gal and only had the fraction of energy. My daughter wondered why she didn't get to sang to and the magic seemed lost for her birthday; especially since she had just witnessed the birthday celebrants before her. I love Build-A-Bear! I never went as a kid and then I didn't think about it when I was an adult. However, I went for the first time a few months ago and now I'm hooked! This store is open during COVID-19 with new safety precautions in place. They limit the number of customers in the store at a time, so you might have to wait outside. They also have markings on the floor to encourage social distancing. Of course they have plenty of teddy bears there, but they also have other types of animals and they have tons of licensed characters (Harry Potter, Pokemon, Star Wars, Marvel, etc). There are also a ton of cute clothes and accessories. The first step is to choose an animal and they have most of them on display. Grab a "skin" and then head over to the "Stuff Me" section. This is where most of the customization takes place. You can add a sound button inside your friend that plays a song, says a catchphrase, or you can record your own message. You can also add a scent. My favorite scents are cotton candy, birthday cake, and bearied treasure (pineapple coconut). You should also decide whether you want your friend soft and squishy or fully stuffed. Before they stitch everything up, they do something called the Heart Ceremony. I think every employee does it a bit differently, but it is really fun and it brings your new friend to life! It is a little annoying because some of their products are available online only, but you can usually buy the animal unstuffed and then bring it to your local store to finish the process. Things can also get pretty expensive, but they have sales all the time and you should definitely sign up for the Build-A-Bear Bonus Club, where you can earn points and get coupons for future purchases. read more

Dragged in with two little kids who really wanted to show me around. I hadn't been in here before since I'm kidless and my nieces and nephews are all grown so my friend's kids gave me the grand tour. You build your own bear including stuffing, clothes, accessories and other innards like sounds and scents. They have dozens of other kinds of plush to choose from besides bears like Pokemon, bunnies, dogs, cats, and reindeer. We took our goddaughter here before Christmas and were underwhelmed. I had seen may YouTube videos about the experience and we were so excited to share this moment with her. We knew it would be pricey and we were prepared to fork out a pretty penny for this experience. They only let a certain amount of people in at a time which is great. The staff member at the register was nice and ver friendly however everyone else manning the stuffing machine and walking around were weird. Not sure how else to describe it. They didn't connect with our goddaughter at all. Didn't do the heart thing we saw in the YouTube videos...kind of rushed it like they hadn't had a break. I was disappointed. I was expecting so much more. It was not magical at all. I will not be going back. So sad. Customer service could have been better. Not worth the money for the BLAH experience. read more

Build-A-Bear is a great store and they have a wide selection of bears to choose from. Have bought bears here for all my kids when they were little and lately brought my granddaughter in for her 1st birthday. Nice that they still only charge for the age they are turning so that is how much it costs to make their own Birthday Treat Bear! So kids turning 1 year old get to make their own bear for just a $1 and so forth. Every time the kids get the chance to fill their own bear makes me so emotional, I really don't know why! Lol! Maybe because it's like adding another member in the family to love, hug and cuddle. The staff at the Tukwila store are terrific with the young ones and they make the trip there memorable. I've been a loyal BAB customer for years. I was heart broken when the store in Bellevue was closed long ago. I loved taking my kids when they were little to stuff the bears. It was special memories for me. As they grew older, I still enjoyed the stores but I liked online better bc of the special discounts and more selections. I was having difficulties using my reward certificates online lately so I thought I went to the store instead. There were not many BAB stores nearby where I lived but I had a chance last Friday to visit the Southcenter Mall. Jey who worked there was super nice, friendly, patient and helpful in assisting me using the reward certificates. I had an amazing time and was very impressed that I had to share my experience. We had never been to Build-A-Bear before, but learned about their "Birthday Bear" promotion so we made a special trip for that. Normally retailing at $14, their birthday bear cub costs the age of your child during their birth month, all the way down to $1. While smaller than their other bears, and not sporting glass eyes, the birthday bear grants your child the full experience on a budget. Building the bear involves your child at multiple points. They have your kid (even our toddler) press the petal to stuff your bear. Then they hand the kid a small fabric heart that they kiss so the bear will know it's theirs. The kid inserts the heart into the bear before it gets sewn up. Next you can choose outfits and accessories. Accessories started at $3. T-shirts started around $5. Outfits cost around $12. Shoes were $9+. Next it's off to the naming station, and "bearth certificate" station, and finally the photo station. Most bears retailed between $18-25, then with the cost of an outfit and a couple accessories, a fully loaded bear costs around $40. Our birthday bear with a birthday T-shirt was under $10. You don't have to spend a fortune to make a fun toy and plenty of memories! read more

Does not know how to run store. Does not have time limit for customers waited in line for hour and a half because a family was taking forever! And employee allowed them too stay in and have customers waiting outside in the line. Many more customer behind me left as well. Still waiting while even writing this! read more

I have never been inside a build a Bear. The closes location was tacoma and I never went to that mall. I was excited to bring my girls to build a special bear of their own. The whole process was fun for them and so far they're in love with their bears. It is quite pricy (around $55 per Bear) but I expected that going in from other reviews I read from the other location. read more

I'm shocked to see the reviews of this location to be so low. We just celebrated a 3rd birthday here with a group of 7 kids and it was so fun. Our party leader, Morgan was fantastic, energetic and great with kids. She made it fun, easy and memorable for each child to create their furry friend. As well as added the perfect amount of touch to make the birthday girl feel a little more special. We selected the Ultimate Party Package and felt like that was a good price point to include a little bit of everything for each participant. With our group of 7, the party with games and building took about an 1.5 hours. The store was clean, well maintained, and every staff member we encountered was friendly. Our only wish would have been to have a larger or separate more private space for parties, but we understand space is limited. Otherwise everything else was great from an easy booking system online to an organized event onsite. Someone from the store called me 2 days prior to the party to confirm our details, me being the planner that I am would have preferred getting in contact with someone from the store maybe 1-2 weeks earlier or would have liked to receive an email contact for prior communication but overall great experience and would definitely recommend for a party or visit for 3-5 year olds! read more

My boyfriend and I went in for our date night for some nostalgia, and the staff members today really made the experience! They were very thorough about letting us know our options from softness to sound features. The employees all carried a really fun energy, made conversation with us, and were genuinely engaged with us and our experience. They asked me to hop as they filled my bunny too, which was a small silly detail that really made my day. Aside from their awesome personalities, they really ensured things were sanitary and safe by keeping a customer limit and putting hand sanitizer at ALL of the stations. I was really impressed with the overall experience, and it was exactly what I had hoped for. After all these years since I created my first build a bear, they somehow captured that new-toy feeling every child should have when making a build a bear, and I'm very grateful for the staff at this location :) read more

Went in last night, worker told us they would hold a Snorlax for 24 hours and then sold the last one :(

Beware, even if they tell you'll they'll put a 24 hr hold on a bear for you, they'll still sell it to anyone who asks, basically. Apparently the policy is the last one in stock will be sold, which means all on hold is fair game. Sneaky, sneaky. read more

Not great customer service. The 1st sales girl who helped us was short with us, and passed us of to the male manager who then also didn't help us. With a 3 and 4 year old it's difficult already! Also, prices weren't clearly marked for their 2 for $35 promo. One sales person finally helped us and she saved the day! But overall, never going back. Overpriced and too many ads ons for more $$$$. Super disappointed. They did honor the price for the one that wasn't marked clearly, so that's honorable. But still, this just was not a good experience. read more
