If you listen to one thing today...do not go here! Its a scam. I had to create a YELP account just to warn y'all - that's how serious I am. I bought a Hello Kitty purse and when I got home, they had a Marshall's tag tucked inside right by where the zipper is. So even if you tried to unzip it at the store to check out the inside, it'd be a struggle to do so because they don't want you to see that they got this purse from Marshall's for 14.99 and then, marked it up for $38! I now doubt that 1/2 of their store is licensed Sanrio, or new. So if you ever wonder why a store has a "no refund, no exchange" policy? Even in my home state of CA, I like to frequent little shops that sell items from some of my favorite anime series. I generally know what to expect - prices that can be on the higher side, especially when importing and shipping costs come into play, but still a great product right there within my American grasp. Sometimes it's just nice to have the convenience of not having to search online for a product. Driving into the parking lot of Sweet Kitty, I was instantly charmed by the outside - lots of familiar characters displayed on tapestries and an overall "kawaii" look that hit the nail on the head, all the way down to the logo on the storefront When stepping inside, it was no different. Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon, Gundam, and Dragon Ball all lined the shelves and walls - it's literally a 90s kid dream. And yes, though those were the items that stuck out the most, they had a fair selection of your trending anime titles of the past 10 years and there's seemingly something there for the average, unsuspecting fan. Display to display, my overall enthusiasm of this store dwindled. The plushes were cute, and there were some interesting figurines present (I paused to look at one for a good long moment because I found it looked odd but I blamed it on maybe poor design) but then it became clear to me that between the licensed big-named shows, there were a tooooooooon of bootlegged items. A couple of reviews have pointed out the very obvious glass case with the poorly designed DVD cases inside it (and these were in addition to the equally obvious wallets on the back wall, which was something I was willing to dismiss because I've seen my fair share of fake anime wallets at state fair booths and tiny popular japan culture stores. To each their own.) but not even the smaller items like the keychains are safe from bootlegged copies - and this is one of the sections with some of the most "diversity" in product. For some younger fans who might not have a job, or maybe someone maybe not looking to make a big purchase and only wants to grab a small keychain or two to put on a bag or backpack.. this could be a real let down once and if they realize the merch they purchased was a fake from China. I saw enough bootleg items in the store that I started to question every product in there, including the ones that looked relatively legit, and it stopped me from purchasing anything by the end of my visit. My advice to you, Buyer, is to research the items you are interested in. Familiarize yourself with the legitimate product. Any lines look off or coloring is weird? Doubt its legitimacy. A brand keychain that caught my eye had a particular anime character with dark orange skin for absolutely no reason. She's half Japanese/Russian! Don't dupe yourself. If you can make a trip to Little Saigon in Seattle, visit Kinokuniya Bookstore. Prices are generally high, but it's because of the importing. If bigger companies aren't your style, head the opposite way and take a trip to Tacoma; there's a small anime business with legitimate products you can purchase there, with incredibly fair prices. read more

I've bought so many pencils, bears, backpacks, ANIME, etc. from here because it's one of the local 'anime store' (as I kept calling it since I was little) that wasn't too far away from me. The owner would always remember me from when I was little since my parents always took me! Now I'm always taking my little sister! The owner is so very kind and always tells us what she's planning on getting next for the store just in case we know when we should come back for the new items!! I adore "J-Pop", or rather, Japanese pop culture very much. Everything is so adorable and happy. I've searched high and low and have yet to find a store fully dedicated to Manga/Anime goods. Not the stores that sell pocky candy and have a few dirty anime DVDs, but a fully dedicated store filled with a wide variety of Japanese (themed) goods! So many anime plush dolls, gashapon machines and key chains all in the same place. They have anime figurines galore! Some on display for sale and others in the surprise "blind box" packaging for trading. They sell candy and Sanrio merchandise, too. Lots of it. The store is clean and cheery. I really appreciate that it is also clean cut! Family friendly. No hentai or pornography in your face like some anime/comic stores. I could easily spend an hour browsing at all of the adorable merch. I felt like a kid in a candy store. The clerk was very nice, knowledgable and helpful :) I did purchase a "Good smile company" nendoroid petit... And it was a Chinese copy. Let me start by stating I've been shopping here for over a decade... I've tried other Anime shops over the years but nothing compares to Sweet Kitty!!! Always getting new cool stuff in! Great offers and specials when you follow them on Facebook! Always reasonable prices! This is the ONLY place I'll buy my Anime Gear from!!! I highly recommend this place to fuel your Anime gear and cosplay needs!!! Staff is always friendly and treats you like family. Update: I've been seeing other reviewers complain about price and quality of the products here. The price is going to always be a little higher in a physical location shop as opposed to online. Because the shop has to pay overhead and rent for their location. And as for quality, everything here is legit and isn't bootleg. Most stuff here is shipped directly from Japan. So keep in mind, the few extra bucks goes towards keeping this amazing shop in business. So it doesn't have to shut down like so many other anime shops have. One of the gals there is nice, but another person (who I found out is the owner) that just stares at you the moment you come in without greeting you and hides in the back room once you are purchasing your items. Being a lvl 99 anime master channeling the spirit of Ken-sama, I decided to come here with my kimono and ka-ta-a-na looking for stuff related to my favorite anime, King of the Hill. I expected to see some Propane and Propane accessories like Strickland propane shirts and hats, a hank hill dakimakura, a nancy hix gribble mouse pad, a plush propane tank, boomhauer x dale gribble doujins, and even a Japanese import copy of Pro-PAIN! on the PS4. Unfortunately, I was disappointed seeing mostly Shoju and some mild Yaoi stuff. I mean, come on! No Cory in the House, Seinfeld, Shrek, Filthy Frank, and 80s airplane safety videos? The shame...... __________________________________________________________________________ So I just risked my elite status using memes but oh well. Now for real, I walked in looking for some sailor moon cards for my co worker. I browsed through some more and saw some posters, wall scrolls, gundamus, and even some cosplay outfits. They also Lots of stuffed animals and even little anime and office stationary items. Keychains, They have a lot of items from big franchises like: Sailor Moon, Hello Kitty, DBZ, Naruto, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Lucky Star, and some vocaloid stuff. With the exception of Lucky Star, don't expect any imouto, loli, nekopara, green tea vs coffee and waifu things. If you want to channel your inner otaku, they also have ramune and pocky for when ya making animus and mangos for your deviant art page, watching melonpan on youtube, or those Himouto! Umaru chan binge sessions on Crunchyroll Looking to spruce up my apt, I was hoping to get some Ika Musume stuff but they did not carry any at all.Though I did see some little $1 print cards next to their posters which would look cool for any workspace. The owners were nice and helpful in trying to find what I was looking for and answered all my questions. Still no Ika musume or Pop Team Epic stuff tho (°°） Overall, this is a great place to find cute anime stuff. Again, mostly shoujo and mild BL stuff (i.e. Free and shizuo x izaya posters) and gundam models. So Itadakimasuuu de-geso~!! Sweet Kitty was a anime hobby shop I went to recently. As the name implies there are lots of kitty type merchandise, especially the Hello Kitty variety. I went in here looking for a possible case for my new phone but all they really had were cases for young girls or whoever may like pink or kitties. I could not find a non gender specific phone case so I stopped looking. I love having those phone chains with ornaments hanging off the phone consisting of anime characters, globes and what not but none really struck a cord with me. Perhaps it is because I get more and more out of date with popular anime despite my best attempts or else it was just blah. Despite a pretty good selection of these things I was not compelled to buy anything. Picky shopper. They had lots of anime on DVD behind a case, most of it I did not recognize but it was interesting nonetheless. Sweet Kitty also has an impressive assortment of small scale models and figurines of various characters as well. I realize full well judging off of the other reviews here this is THE anime store for Kent but I did not find anything that got me excited. Hopefully that time will come when I venture into Seattle's International District in the near future. read more

Going to the Hello Kitty Opening Party at EMP Museum? I am! Back in the day my friends and I used to go to Character Corner in Southcenter mall for Sanrio stuff but it's long gone. I decided to stop by this store to pick up some Sanrio stuff for the event for me and my fam members. The owner is very friendly. It has a lot more Hello Kitty items than what Uwajimaya carries and there aren't a lot of south end stores around that sells the specific items that she had in her store. I hate walking into Japanese stores that are poorly organized with only a few items lining the walls and shelves. Either that or you're just flat out confused/bored by the merchandise they DO have available... ugh. I traveled a good 10 minutes out of my way to visit this place and it was totally worth it! It's full of wall-to-wall selection. Everything is extremely well organized and the merchandise is absolutely top-notch. I could easily drop $100 in this place! If you're on a budget the candy selection is fantastic. I went bonkers and everything was carefully selected and absolutely delicious. :) This place should be fully supported - we will be back! Since moving to the Seattle area with tween-age kids who are into anime, we've made several visits to this store. They have a good selection of anime-related accessories ranging from cosplay to lunchboxes to pencils to wall hangings to a number of items. The staff is really friendly. Every time we go in, the owner remembers us and chats with us. She rushed an order on a cosplay for me last year before Sakura-Con when the cosplay I ordered elsewhere did not arrive. I suggest looking at her ordering schedule and following as best as possible to reduce your cost of shipping. The store is bright and clean. The prices are pretty standard prices. The cost of things has gone up as the yen gained strength and the dollar lessened. It used to be you could get Japanese good really inexpensively, but that is not the case anymore. We've been happy with our purchases and experiences here. read more

The workers were friendly, but I wasn't able to move around a lot inside the store with a baby stroller.. It wasn't spacious and I felt like I was gona hurt my baby. I only stayed there for less than 3 minutes. There was a lot of cute things though like car accessories and tees. They're very expensive though, way more expensive than the ones you get at anime convention like Sakura Con. They have cute LINE dolls that I really loved, but they didn't have the big one on sale. What was their purpose of showing that if they're not going to sell it? It made me really sad that they only had smaller ones. I think they should only show display of items that they sell. I read the reviews that you are not allow to take pictures. So I respected their privacy. I was hoping they had cosplay outfits, but no just inspired shirts. Husband and wife duo, Shawn and Jeremy, own this store and rock it like nobody else. You will find these guys with a booth at both the SakuraCon anime convention and the PAX video game convention, working their BUTTS off. I've never met anyone so dedicated to their business and their customers. They've got posters, stuffed animals, clothing, books, cds, dvds, jewelry, trading card games, figurines, housewares, cell phone accessories, back to school supplies and a great selection of imported candy and snacks! (I'm sure I'm missing a lot in that list with everything that the Sanrio line has their hands in lately!) I give a star because I have to at least give one on the rating. I traveled with my family to check this store out, I was very excited but to much disappointment right when my kids, husband, and myself walked in the door we were immediately followed. One retail associate came from the counter and stood pretending to mess with some items on a shelf and then the other came around the counter to stand at the other aisle to come and talk to the other associate. I have worked retail many years and know the signals and drills. I was so uncomfortable, I asked my husband if we could leave. He paid for the item one of my children had asked for and we left. Before entering a store I explain to my children to not touch but only look so I understand if that were the case but it was not. The only other customer in the store was not watched, not monitored as she looked and touched product. We weren't even able to make it past the entrance. read more
