My ADU project is finally complete! I learned so much over the past year and half when it came to new consturction in California, patience is the largest lesson learned. I was thankfully guided through all steps with Jessica and her family. From the start communication was wonderful. I started the process of seeking a contractor in 2022, I interviewed about 13, when I found Build ADU, the decision was easy. Jessica was the only contrator that gave me the information needed in a way I was able to understand, worked with my budget and made all the pre-counstruction items needed for my job easy for me to understand. She was always available in-person, text or phone call. Since this was a new construction, I had no idea what it actually entailed, from city plans, planning meetings, city checks, the list goes on, each step was explained and guided for me by Jessica, thankfully she knew so much I actually was not worried as she took over as the professional and brought me into the conversation when I needed to make a decision. Every step was throughly explained to me, there are so many I can't even type them all out. I I appreciate that the business is women owned, family owned and each person who came to my property was respectful, clean and did an excellent job. They also use the same team, shout out to Julio and team for all the work they did, even in the hot hot summer months. The reason I went with this company was because of Jessica. As a woman looking to get work done on her home, I felt as if she listened to what I was saying, and did not try to convince me to go beyond what I was comfortable with. I need a few projects and called this company for an estimate. Jessica set an appointment for noon but didnt come or call. I called her at 1 and told her I had to leave at 1:30 for a doctor's appt. She said she thought she texted me that she was tied up at City Hall. No text. She said she would go outside in 15 minutes and call to tell me when she might be able to meet with me. No call. She later said she could come on Tues. I texted her on Monday requesting an estimate and suggested 11 a.m. Never heard from her again. I can understand schedules being interrupted, but it is very poor customer service to leave people hanging without updates. By phone, not texts, by the way. Part 2 - Now, we did reach out to them a few weeks after this project was completed, but not because of any issues, it was to schedule the next project, remodeling our master bathroom. We received the EXACT same superior service across the board, but even more so. Jessica is an unbelievable salesperson. She is so helpful and knowledgeable and provides suggestions and ideas and allows us time to think about things. Her input during this phase actually gave us more ideas than we had to begin with and actually changed our original plan of what we wanted- for the better! But there is no selling pressure. She is wonderful in that regard. Then Anthony pulls up the rear and turns Jessica's ideas into reality for us! Now, a month after ADU completed our master bath I still feel like I'm in the bathroom of a luxury resort suite every time I'm in there because it so so nice and comfortable and functional. Showers seem to take longer than before the remodel. Basically, I find excuses to hang out in my bathroom and so does my wife! ADU has already been back again to do a minor project of replacing a door and frame that they knocked out in 1 day. We also have an additional minor project that is currently being scheduled and more major projects down the road of new floors throughout the house, and a new kitchen that will certainly be done by Jessica and her team. I cannot express in words how COMPLETELY satisfied we are with ADU and would recommend this company without hesitation! I gave ADU 5 stars because that is the max. Just about done with a bathroom remodel with them and I would recommend their business. Originally chose them because of their prompt and professional communication. I had lots of questions and decisions before officially going with them and they answered all of them. Counter top over our appliances had to be replaced after one year because it was bowing in the middle, lack of support to quartz countertop. Sink was not properly seated on vanity and had to be reset and sealed. Towel racks with anchors falling out of walls. Significant amounts of caulking used awkwardly everywhere hiding flaws. Used wrong paint color gradient than what was requested. They told us countertop around sink needed to be put together in pieces bc it might crack but other contractors have revealed that it was because they just used the left over quartz scraps from the used slab. Had to hire another contractor to fix 1 year old work. Didn't want to let them know after a long drawn out work period bc I don't want them to fix it. Very disappointing and not a high end or detail oriented option. I could go on but my point is made. read more
