visited Builders Outlet back in May 2024 as we were in the middle of replacing our floors in our home and needed to upgrade the existing baseboards in the main floor. We were looking for baseboards that were classic (Victorian) to match the other molding and casing in our home. We also wanted something that would be taller than 4" inches, to give the new flooring the pizzazz it needed. During my visit to Builders Outlet, I was able to get an idea of the different baseboard profiles that they could ordered for me. The salesman was also very helpful and patient and the price was very competitive. Best of all, the order that I placed came in within 4 days, which kept our project on target. My door was damaged and I found out from the builders that they had sourced it from these guys, and since I wanted a replacement to be a similar as possible, sourcing it from Builders Outlet seemed like a no-brainer. To be clear: This was a "please, take my money" situation. And yet, despite multiple phone calls, and email laying out exactly the specs I was looking for, the receptionist can only say "it's really hit or miss" when it comes to the privilege of talking to their sales people. I could never get ahold of anyone who would take my money. If these guys only want to work with builders and have contempt for retail customers, just say so!! I had one of my top three most disrespectful experiences at Builders Outlets Saturday 8/6/16. The salesman was arrogant and very disrespectful as soon as he approached my wife and I. Walked right up to me and just stared, never asked, "May I help you", "Are you being helped." Just stood in front of me and stared directly at me and after about 30 seconds just nodded his head towards me as a jesters to say something. Then I just let him dig his hole deeper as he did with his arrogance and arrogance he had. Needless to say after just about a minute I basically told him my business wasn't going there and walked out. Horrible customer service. Tried leaving 3 voicemails and 2 emails for quotes on cabinets not a single word back. I then set an appointment and had my slot taken by what appeared to be a walk-in 5-10 mins before my appointment. After waiting patiently for a 30 mins after my appointment I walked by the door and asked them to email me back with a better appointment. Never heard back. Wow, worst customer service I have ever experienced. I don't understand why they would put someone in the front office who stares at you when you walk in, wondering why you are there rather than a hello, how can I help you. Against my better judgment to just walk out, I tried to get the answers I had come for, trying to get a custom sized door. After what seemed like an eternity to pry the information I needed out of this guy, he couldn't give me a quote so he took down our info and surprise surprise, we never heard back. After they had screwed it up twice- there was not even a single apology made, let alone some sort of compensation. Sat with Tony for nearly 2 hours and went through my list of 13 doors for our remodel project and made all the choices with him. We were repeatedly interrupted by other employees who'd just walk up to his desk, without apologizing and start conversation about other matters. At the end, Tony said, he'd get prices and write up the order within a few days. It never came. I sent him 2 emails without getting a response. 1-1/2 weeks later, I went down to the place. He was very embarrassed and apologized for the delay called me a "saint" for being so patient and PROMISED, (calling a female coworker to be a witness) that he would have the order written up for me by midday the next day. I called twice the next day, both times, i was told he is with customers. The second time i spoke with the female coworker who told me, rather upset, " he is with a customer and he will write up your order TODAY AS PROMISED as soon as he is done with this customer". I never received the order. I have now waited 2 weeks for Tony JUST TO WRITE THE ORDER and send copy to me for approval. I have to absorb the damage this delay has caused in our construction project. Lesson learned. If an establishment looks and behaves unprofessionally at the get go, It can only get worse. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before I ever drove all the way downtown from Parker to visit. First, I called and spoke with Charles (I think) and he was nice on the phone and gave me information I needed. I called back later and got some other guy who basically seemed like he didn't know why anyone would call him for doors. So I said I would come in on my day off. Today I went in. I walked into the office and there was a younger guy helping a couple and then an older guy just sitting there at a desk. The older guy glanced up at me then went back to mulling around on his desk. So I stood there for awhile before the older guy finally, and with great irritation goes "Yes?" So I said that I had spoken with someone who had helped me on the phone but that I was in the market for a few doors. He was like "Yeah, we sell doors." Ok... so this guy's bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired but I can cope... So I asked to see some specific doors and he acted as though moving from his desk was this huge ordeal. I got to see some doors before he escorted me back to his desk and started working on OTHER WORK while I was trying to ask questions. He clearly wasn't listening to my questions because he would answer with things that didn't apply or make sense. Sometimes he would just trail off as he was reading some other piece of paper on his desk. I specifically was asking about the cost/benefit analysis of hollow core vs solid for a simple closet situation. He just said "Yeah, well, you obviously just want the cheapest then the hollow is the cheapest." When I asked him to clarify what the benefits of going solid core would be he just continued to 'accuse' me of being cheap. Then he just stopped talking to me. I was dismissed while sitting there as he fussed around with papers on his desk. Irritated I said "ok, so should I come back another time to order doors?" He glanced at me as though he had never seen me before and goes "I can sell you doors." Then went back to ignoring me again. I thanked him and walked out. I was so angry I was almost in tears. I fumed for a minute in the car then went back in but not to the office; there was another guy outside of the office and I asked if he worked there and he said he did so I asked "Do you know the name of the younger guy? He seems like he might be pleasant and might want to take my money. Since the other guy is an ass hole and treated me like shit." The guy didn't look surprised AT ALL. In fact he just sort of sighed and shook his head. Told me the younger guy is Charles and I was welcome to wait for him. I said I was going to Home Depot and walked out. Seriously I feel so bad for the people who work there. Eventually they are going to be out of jobs when this place goes under because that guy is such a dick. read more

My wife and I needed to purchase a custom door for our home. We spoke with Tony on a Saturday about our needs. He gave me a sheet to fill out with all the measurements of which I emailed to him that same day. I never heard back from him. About a week later I called the store and Tony was not in but I was assured he would call me as soon as he arrived. No call back from Tony. I called again and got the same story. I only needed three doors; maybe my job wasn't big enough for them to bother with. During my visit one Friday evening to Builders Outlet I was looking for a high end exterior door for my home in Colorado Springs. While I was in their show room I received no help for the first 45 minutes. There was no one in the front lobby and no one out on the floor so I made myself at home and started looking at their current stock they had available. I noticed there was some very disturbing pictures the owner has of naked women on their workshop walls. It was completely disgusting and I don't know how they expect customers to shop in these conditions or even have women working in these conditions. After looking at a few doors they have I made my way back into the front office to see about making a possible order. Meanwhile the owner I take it since he was bossing everyone around so disrespectfully and seemed very lost as to what to do with other customers complaints he was getting was going from desk to desk ordering people around. He kept saying his time is very valuable. When the man I assume to be the owner or manager received a phone call he told the lady in the back office to lie and say he wasn't there. I was completely mortified by their lack of customer service for the hour I was there. While I was sitting at the owners desk he was to busy still to help me so he asked one of the warehouse guys to help me because he stated he didn't have time to deal with a one door order. The warehouse guy was really nice and genuine about wanting to help. He tried answering my questions until he received a phone call and no longer had time to work with me. He proceeded to give me a business card from one of the desks, at that point I just left. The next day I called to see how long it would take to order this certain door, I was then transferred to a salesman. He stated that everyone had quit and he was the only one left and that he would have to call me back due to the fact he was new and had not received any formal training and being the only person to take orders. I called for a week straight only for their receptionist to take a message and to never return my calls as promised. This place is horribly ran and by all the complaints that I seen in the little bit of time I was there I SUGGEST THAT ANYONE THAT SHOPS THERE IS TAKING A HUGE CHANCE ON NOT GETTING WHAT YOU WANT. Since all of this I have ordered with a different company that was very helpful and warming to all my individual needs. This company stated that they have heard of Builders Outlet also and they get many complaints. Nobody understands how they are still in business and have not been sued yet. i walked out of this place. i went in last week and it took nearly 30 mins before i could find someone to help me. then, today i went back to actually purchase the door. i walked around for 20 mins then tried to find someone to help me. i went into the 'offices' but no one was there, i walked around some more. when i noticed someone in the office i walked in and said "hi". two men, one older guy reading the paper and a younger guy in a baseball hat. after no one replied to my hello, i said it again... "hi." the response from the older man was "we heard you the first time, what do you want!" suffice it to say... i told them i was going to go elsewhere. i will never return. do yourself a favor and go someplace else. read more

I have to add my own 1-star review (wish there was a zero-star), which is evidently the best rating Builders Outlet has gotten out of nine reviews. In a nutshell, they botched my cabinet order, sending me the wrong color and wrong product. I live out of town and had a workman install the cabinets upon delivery, and of course this workman didn't know it was a mistake so he proudly sent me a pic of them all installed in the kitchen. That's when I called Builders Outlet. They accepted that they'd screwed up, but guess what they offered as compensation: they'd pay $200 back to me, so I could repaint them!!! Can you believe that? We're now headed to small claims court, where I will get satisfaction (even though it will be weeks of waiting). read more

I would have absolutely concurred until I was in today and was lucky enough to get to work with a relatively new sales associate named Charles! He is young, kind, patient and very knowledgeable/helpful! Gave us all the info we needed to get a new front door installed to include door options, hardware, finishing, installer, all prices, and etc. We finally have everything we need to move forward! I am so disappointed with this company. They have no communication with customers, and this includes the owner, George. He told me he wanted to hear my concerns so I called to company (4 times) and the receptionist said she would pass along my message. On the last call I told her I wanted to work out the concerns before I wrote a review. This still did not prompt a response from the company. I guess they had my money and that was all they cared about. 1) The door was delivered but not built as planned, 2) poor workmanship as the top of the door is not cut straight, 3) plugs for the window casings were not sent, 4) door is not very solid in its frame, 5) completion of the door was delayed but no call from the company to let me know, 6) they could never find the construction ticket when I called with inquiries about the delay, 7) they were not going to release the door to the delivery driver as they said it had not been paid for when in fact I made a specific trip to the shop the day before to pay the bill. Even the day before delivery, 8) they couldn't find the door, then didn't know there were multiple pieces. This is one of the worst companies I have worked with and don't care that their customers are not even close to satisfied. Please heed the many reviews of past customers. read more
