I asked them to investigate further in case the problem returned, but they declined, saying "there's nothing we can do." They never entered the home, never inspected anything, and only briefly stepped out of their van into my driveway to talk to me before leaving. At no point during the scheduling call was I told there would be a service fee. When the techs arrived, they made no mention of a charge, nor did they provide any kind of invoice or paperwork before leaving. I later received three bills by mail, each demanding $130, with no explanation of what the charge was for -- just a warning that failure to pay would result in the account being sent to collections. I did not believe the charge was warranted and disputed it in writing via certified mail with return receipt, which Universal Electric received and signed for. They never responded. No follow-up, no phone call, no documentation -- just silence. Eventually, they turned the matter over to a collection agency. It's frustrating to be billed for a visit where no service was performed, no agreement was made, and no information was shared upfront about potential charges. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Universal Electric.

They honored their estimate and did excellent work. The work was so good that I already had the company do a a second job. Jake, the owner of this business "forgot" about our first appointment meeting. I was willing to…read moreforgive that as we all have memory lapses from time to time. Turns out that should have been my first red flag. The second was when he gave me an estimate at our first meeting and then he called back and said he made a mistake and gave me another estimate almost $500 more than the first quote. The next time we talked it was another $200 more. But his estimate was middle of the road as I had gotten cheaper ones and more expensive ones so I went with them. It took Jake 3 days for what should have been a one day job. The first day, he just removed the wooden walkway to make way for the concrete to be poured. The second day, he ran out of concrete before he was a third of the way done and it was only an inch and a half to 2 inches deep. Standard is 3-4 inches deep as I understand it. It's also 2 different colors from the two different days' work and it's not level. He insists it is, but I'll need to wait for rain to see if the water pools in the middle of the walkway. He also dumped a pile of dirt onto the landscaping rocks and was just going to "rinse it down into the rocks". I put my foot down on that and insisted that he remove the dirt as it would be easy for weeds to take root in the dirt (there was fabric under the rocks to stop that.) He was also careless in removing the wooden walkway as he broke a panel off the door of my wooden fence. He said he would fix it but hasn't yet and won't return my texts or phone calls. While he was cheaper than many I got estimates from, I would have gladly paid more for a job done properly and did no damage to my property. I definitely would not recommend The Best Caulking and Restoration of Omaha for any kind of work. They are neither professional nor reliable.
