FIRST ONE, took 3 weeks to get a quote (I could only imagine how long it would take to get the work done) and the price was shockingly high SECOND and THIRD contractors I reached out to never even returned the calls The FORTH and FIFTH contractors finally came through with quotes and both were fairly priced. I went with Family Shutters over the competitor number based on customer service and not the price (both were about the same cost). Once I received my quote I had questions; I spoke with Rene Mejia (I believe he is the operations manager) who made himself available to answers question or to clarify points I didn't understand. As a contractor myself, I had numerous questions regarding the installation and materials; Rene always took the time to be in contact with me (very helpful and convenient). Once agreed to the terms and ready to do the work, I gave my deposit (a fair, small percentage compared to many contractors out there that require ridiculous deposits). Work was scheduled and the installer showed as promised. Once the installation was completed (by Ray) I had a couple questions for Rene to verify the installation would pass my insurance inspection and he explained everything and even gave reassurance that if I had any issue or problem, then he would stand behind the product and have it taken care of. So glad I don't even need a ladder. I dreaded the process of looking for installers. You never know what to expect from them. You never know who to trust. Thankfully one day, these guys showed up installing shutters in my neighborhood. But I hadn't found them personally. My neighbors from across the street did. The same good neighbors that helped me install some plywood when Irma was about to hit. Communication with DAS was always prompt whether I was dealing with Claudia or Marcella. They answered all of my questions when needed. Measurements of all my windows were taken twice. The first measurement was needed for the price quote. The second measurement was needed later on for confirmation for when they were about to receive the shutter parts. The price quote for parts and installation was very fair and reasonable. I paid 50% down and 50% upon completion. DAS also took care of the permit from the city since I chose this option. However, I was responsible obtaining a letter of approval from my HOA which was simple. On the day of installation, DAS showed up on time as planned. All shutters on all of my windows were installed by one guy which only took 2.5 hours. Unbelievable. I don't know how he did it all by himself.
