In comparing the two companies, Superior is really head and shoulders above the others. If you have a project that you want done at a fair price, with high quality on a reasonable schedule, I highly recommend Superior. Quote Process: -Superior was able to come out quickly -They included everything I asked for in the quote (this is a big deal-- I got lower quotes from 2 other companies and it turns out they "forgot" to include key elements of what I asked for. This makes their quote look lower which ultimately isn't the case) -The pricing was competitive and easy to understand. Any change requests that caused a change in pricing were discussed before anything was updated Customer Service: -Superior is a small company so you're usually dealing directly with one of the owners. This is huge since I found with my other company that it can be really annoying and a time suck to have to deal with 2 or 3 middle men. -The owners came out to check on our project at least once a week if not more. It was super obvious that they cared about us being happy with the end result. Sub-contractors: -They use quality subs and have a pretty good handle on them. This is super critical-- other companies use the cheapest subs they can find. -They manage their subs-- they give clear direction and don't expect the home owner to provide this on their behalf. Quality: -They care about the quality. The tile we picked turned out to be really tricky to install and took a lot longer than anyone anticipated. They made sure it was done right and it turned out looking amazing. -They weren't happy with some finish work that was done by the plumber so had it fixed with out my even asking (I don't know that I would have even noticed it because it was behind the bathtub). Timeline: -They stuck pretty close to the timeline that we agreed on and actually completed all elements of the project with out my having to follow up. This is huge.... our kitchen renovation from more than 18 months ago still has outstanding punch list items that the large contractor hasn't closed.

I had been to one of the big box home improvement stores, but was concerned about all of the add on costs. Then I discovered Houston Custom Carpets, conveniently located off of Hwy 59 in Kingwood, near my apartment. For carpet, it doesn't get any simpler. Ron Gilstrap has been in the flooring business since the 1970's, and his knowledge of carpet is as extensive as the plethora of carpet samples in the store. His quote was simple and included installation and the removal and disposal of the old carpet. There were no hidden fees, and their prices were competitive. The installers were real professionals who took pride in their work. A long time ago I worked as helper for some carpet layers, so I am familiar with some the shortcuts that carpet layers can take. These guys took the time to design the layout, and the result is flawless. I couldn't be happier with the finished product. The second project was to upgrade the kitchen countertops to granite with a beautiful custom designed backsplash. The installation of the countertops was flawless. Again, the contractor was a true professional and artist . This was not a hurry-up job. I was impressed with his methodical approach and attention to detail. The final step was the installation of the backsplash. Here was the only hiccup in the entire transaction, which was quickly resolved. I had picked a pattern for the tiles off of the showroom floor, but the installer followed a different pattern. When I got home from work, he was nearly finished. Even though the design work he had done was beautiful, it was not what I had requested, so I sent a picture over to the owner, Bill Kayali. Immediately, he took responsibility and said that they would fix it. It took a few days, because they had to reorder tile, but when it was finished, it was perfect. I cannot say enough for this team. I got excellent professional care from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Had LVP floors installed, felt and saw lifting between some of the boards within a couple of…read moremonths. Let them know immediately, they redid a lot of the flooring. Months later same thing starts happening again. They said it was a manufacturing issue. Manufacturer said if there is something wrong with the product they will have it fixed. Manufacturer got with them, they agreed to send out a 3rd party inspector. Inspector said the issue is due to installation, gave the report to both parties. Houston custom carpet said all they will do is sale us more flooring 50% off and we can pay to have another company install it. Before having our floors done we never had a single issue with them (floors were great from 2004-2023) and now the owner Bill is trying to go against the report saying the foundation shifted and it's not on them, he is also sticking with it being a faulty product despite the inspection report. We trusted our home with them and I regret that decision everyday
